The reason there's such a strange, enormous tree in the middle of the city is because it was too beautiful to cut down long ago, so they decided to build around it. Or so some say.
Rumor had always been there was some kind of magic deep within the tree's very core. That if anyone were to cause it harm then the city would suffer the consequences. Stories of a Native American man who was wronged by the white men used the tree as a portal to other worlds. Upon opening the portal he unleashed a curse on the original founders of Scriptor Bay.

It has been confirmed that there are supernatural beings in Scriptor Bay. Nobody knows if the stories about the tree holding magic are true but people are starting to become suspicious. The city knows that people with wings and others who can turn into animals exist. The humans caged them up, trying to learn just how it was possible for them to exist. However their experiments only lasted a few months as riots broke out all over the city until they were able to escape. But the Therians and Avisailles are out of hiding.
All the other species remain in hiding, not wanting to become subjects under a microscope to endure the torture that the others did. They remain in the shadows or within the crowds, hiding in plain sight. It doesn't change the fact that the residents of Scriptor Bay still worry about what they may run into down a dark alley while the supernatural worry that every person they run into may be a potential threat to their way of living.
