CALERA MARGARET THATCHER
__________________________________________________________
Play by: Kate Beckinsale
Race/Species: Gargoyle
Species Info: She has long, sharp canines and her hands look bonier than a human's but they're easily concealed with either jewelry (which she doesn't really like) or just keeping her hands out of sight. It's not that noticeable unless you're actually staring at them.
D.O.B.: June 27, 1915
Age they appear: 37
Actual age: 97

Features: Although her eyes are a soft brown when she gets mad they look almost black in her rage. Her hair is naturally brown but she often times dyes it darker and during the summer she chops it into an almost jagged bob. She isn't a big fan of makeup or jewelry but when she has to wear it she will. Standing at 5'7 she's taller than most women and lean. She keeps her body well kept by being a Guardian.
Sexual Preference [Optional]: Straight
Ethnicity: English/British
Marks/Tattoos/Visible Scars: A few minor ones from when she was in training, mainly around her wrists and back from being tied for extended periods of time and whipped, but they've faded through the years.

Flaws/Weaknesses: She has a temper that can sometimes send her into a blind rage, although she usually does a decent job at keeping it under wraps. But because of her hard exterior she makes more enemies than friends. And although she doesn't think she's hostile towards them, women always seem to hate her.
Skills/Strengths: When her temper does flare up she can be very dangerous. Her strength is just as great as her male counterparts and she's quick to think on her feet.
Likes:
- Tea

- Being in control of a situation
- High places where she can look down at the city

Other Information: Calera keeps to herself for the most part, enjoying the life of a loner. She can be very hard and seem like a bitch if you don't know her, but every once in a while she allows someone in to see her softer side. She also has a bit of an English accent since her family comes from a line of Brits.

History:
Life hadn't always been leather jump suits and a tough, quiet exterior for Calera. In fact, at one point in her life she was quite feminine and caring. She laughed and loved and enjoyed life with her family and loved ones. Until she didn't. But that's jumping ahead.
Calera wasn't an only child. In fact she had four siblings! Two brothers older than her a younger brother and the youngest sibling was her sister, Clarice. Each of them were nearly two years apart in age and people used to jest that their parents were very busy making their big family. Both of Calera's parents, along with her two older brothers had decided on a career path in politics, while her youngest siblings chose to go the route of an adventurer. Calera.. well.. Calera was going to go into politics. She had a smart head on her shoulders and she had always been the one everyone went to for their troubles. She was the voice of reason in the Thatcher household.
But unexpectedly Calera's world was turned upside down when she met Tobias. Toby was a handsome young man with wits and a smile that would make young women weak in the knees. But Toby was also a tyrant who was responsible for countless deaths around the city, moving his way up in the world of Gargoyle politics quickly. Naturally, Calera was blinded by the love that she felt for him and didn't realize that the only reason that she'd even caught his eye was because her oldest brother, Jackson, was the only person who stood in Toby's way of achieving greatness.
Toby used Calera, showering her with gifts and blinding her with lies of his love for her. When he knew that she would be faithful and obedient he told her to convince her brother to drop out of the race. The council only held one open position and Toby knew that if Calera couldn't talk Jackson into dropping out then he'd have to take drastic measures.
Calera went to her brother as she was instructed and pleaded with him to drop out of the race. Begged him to do it for her. For her happiness. With much reluctance Jackson finally gave in. How could he say no to his sister? It was the one truly selfish thing that Calera had ever asked for in her lifetime.. and one she would never forget.
Although Calera had done exactly what Toby wanted, the love of her life wasn't satisfied. He was paranoid, wondering if this was all just a tactic. He turned on Calera. He believed that she'd been lying, that her and her brother were actually trying to throw him off and he retaliated the one way he knew how; peace was never an option. Hurt by his accusations, Calera headed back home. She needed to tell Jackson all about the corrupted man, she needed to apologize to him. Only when she'd arrived home she found that Toby's men had gotten there first. They had beaten Jackson to the brink of death.. bludgeoned him in the head so many times that he suffered from serious brain damage. The bright Thatcher son who had nowhere to go but up couldn't do so much as write his own name anymore.
Something inside of Calera snapped after what happened to her brother. She couldn't help but blame herself. She'd been blinded by love. It was then that she realized it was time to shut down those emotions and feelings. It was time to turn off anything that would cloud her judgment from there on out and it was time to become a Guardian. Politics were too corrupt and the thought left a bitter taste in her mouth.
Two years later:
Calera had completed her guardian training with outstanding marks. The only emotion she ever let through was her hatred and her rage, making her stronger and better. She had every intention of going and getting a normal human job, probably something on the police force or something where her skills could best be used, and of course at night. But it was a bodyguard position she was offered, in the very same shady gargoyle politics she swore she'd never work for.
Toby had gotten onto the council and was a member but their paths didn't cross often. She watched over Penelope, the head of the council who was a wicked old woman who Calera didn't particularly favor, but it was a job. And it was one where she could still find out what was going on in the world of politics.
