Griffin had brought the matches and lighter fluid closer to the Avisaille, and when the girls came he moved to get the kindling from Cheyenne. "This should be good." He said, catching a look from Claire and then lowering his eyes.
When she went to the body he moved close, instantly feeling a change in the air from when he'd left her with her sister. Had Cheyenne said something? Did Claire tell her what happened? Either way he felt anxious and moved in close to her.
"Are you alright?" He asked her softly, sensing that she wasn't. Was she mad at Cheyenne? Him? Was he thinking too much into it? Maybe she wasn't mad at all. Maybe it was his own guilt or maybe his nerves about what he intended to tell her, getting the best of him. "Here, let me." He offered, not wanting her to hurt herself unintentionally as he reached for the lighter fluid.

Claire could be such a baby. Cheyenne noticed that she was being a butt now and she was sure it had everything to do with what she'd said. She wanted to tell her sister to lighten up, but what was the point? The only way she would lighten up would be if she accidentally set herself on fire, which wouldn't surprise Cheyenne considering how clumsy her sister was. Maybe she should offer to light the damn fire.
The girl saw Griffin moving in close to her sister and she knew that the boy was into her simply judging by his movements. The way he looked at her and moved so carefully when he was next to her.. Even the blind could see he was digging her, so why couldn't Claire?
Because Claire just couldn't get over the fact that he pushed away. Maybe he had a good reason! Cheyenne sighed and moved towards Flynn and sat beside her, champagne in hand. "They can handle it." She said, offering the bottle to the other girl. "Have a drink."

Claire just sort of stood there for a minute staring down at the wrapped up skeleton. She couldn't see it anymore and it sort of made her even more upset. She wanted to see how the bones of the wings connected. But it was all wrapped up and she wasn't about to ask if she could unwrap it so she could have another look after Cheyenne and Flynn went through all that trouble.
"Are you alright?"
"Hm?" Claire looked over at Griffin and suddenly realized that he'd moved next to her when she was wrapped in her own thoughts. "Yeah. Yes. I'm great!" She shrugged her shoulders and looked at the bundle once more, not wanting to make direct eye contact in that moment. She knew if she did she was going to ask him how he knew about the Avisaille. At this point she just wanted answers.
She let Griffin take the lighter fluid, knowing it would probably be better if he took it instead of her anyway. She'd probably end up accidentally dousing herself. But when he took it she moved closer to the skeleton and with the opened bottle of champagne she poured a little bit over where she figured the head was. It could have very well been the feet for all she knew though. "Cheers." She said softly to him, hoping that this wasn't considered a disgraceful thing to do or anything. Not like there was anyone there who would know. "You've been through a lot tonight also, Avery Herbert...Stein." She blinked a few times, trying to make it sound like a full name instead of two nicknames mushed together. She failed fantastically, of course.

Flynn had never been much of a drinker besides the occasional glass of wine here and there. But when Cheyenne offered her the bottle she kindly thanked her and took a sip from the mouth of it. Champagne was not a drink that she much fancied but it wasn't too bad. "Hey, this was what we were serving at the museum." She said when she got a good look at the bottle and then laughed a little. Someone must have taken it off a cart. Not that it mattered much.
"Let us not get caught for stealing an exhibit, but for taking two bottles of the champagne." She teased knowing that the consequences from that would have been lighter. They would hardly get in trouble. Maybe pay for the stolen bottles.
She watched Claire and Griffin for a moment before nudging Cheyenne with her elbow playfully and taking another sip from the bottle before holding it out for the girl if she wanted it back. "Is everything okay? Griffin seemed quite surprised. And I must say so was I when I heard that Claire kissed him?" She figured Cheyenne was the gossip sort, and it gave them something to talk about. "You're a good sister, Cheyenne. Looking out for Claire the way you do. I have to admit I'm a bit jealous. I always wished I had a sister."

He didn't believe her when she told him she was great, but he wouldn't call her a liar. He simply nodded and looked away at the Avisaille that laid there in front of him. He'd been through enough. Finally, he could go home, be with his family, find true peace now that his body and spirit were free to roam. He wondered if the mans spirit had gone back to the world it belonged to. If he had finally gotten to see the wonders that Griffin would likely never see until his own death. That is if that's where they went.
He took the lighter fluid and doused the remains sadly. With a flick of the match, the entire thing went up in flames and he took a step back, putting an arm up in front of Claire to keep her from accidentally getting too close. He didn't want her burned.
He watched her pour the champagne on the head area and grinned softly to himself. "I'm sure he needed that drink." He told her softly, reaching for her bottle and taking a sip himself as she continue to call the Avisaille some very, very strange things. He decided not to ask.
"May you find peace and tranquility, friend, and even in death may you be triumphant. Rest easy knowing your secret is safe, and you are loved. Be free from this world, and find your way safely home." Griffin said softly to the flames. He'd been to his fair share of burials and they never got easier, even when he didn't know the person. He took another sip of champagne and passed the bottle back to Claire, a sullen look on his face.
"I can still come to dinner tomorrow?" He asked hesitantly. "I'd really like to talk to you.."

"Let us not get caught for stealing an exhibit, but for taking two bottles of the champagne." Cheyenne actually smiled at that. "How about not getting caught for either." She suggested, watching her sister and Griffin mess with the fire. In no time the bones were on fire and Cheyenne sighed watching it burn, her visual of her sister and Griffin slightly skewed from the flames licking too high. She could only make out the tops of their heads.
Cheyenne was surprised when Flynn nudged her, but she tore her eyes from the pair by the fire and looked at the other girl, accepting the outstretched bottle and taking a sip.
"Is everything okay? Griffin seemed quite surprised. And I must say so was I when I heard that Claire kissed him?" Cheyenne snorted and looked away again, this time to the sand. "Yeah, that had been news to me, too." When she commented that she was a good sister she looked back at Flynn for a moment and then at Claire, her eyes narrowing a little. "Don't be jealous." She told her and then sighed. "Truth be told I'm not great at this big sister thing. Sure, I'd do anything for that little twerp, but I hassle her. I say it's for her own good, but... I know I don't need to push as hard as I do." She admitted. She had never admitted that openly before.
"I want her to be happy, and I try to change who she is figuring if she were more like me then she would be happy, but...Claire's not me, and I have no fucking clue how to help her."

"I can still come to dinner tomorrow?"
Claire knew that dinner was probably going to be pretty awkward. She hoped that he would want to tell her how she knew about the Avisaille. Despite what Cheyenne said she was pretty sure that he didn't hear the name from her first. Because he didn't seem all that surprised when she said it. Or at least not all that surprised at the name, more at the fact that she knew it.
Looking up at him she nodded her head casually. "Yeah, sure. I mean, I think there are a few things we should definitely talk about if you ask me." She needed to know how he knew about the Avisaille! There were so many things she wanted to know from him. It made her become curious and think back to the last few months, wondering if there were any tell tale signs that he was anything other than human. If there was she hadn't picked up on them.
She wanted to find someone to share her secret with. It was something she always wanted. Considering her and her sister bumped heads so often she wanted someone who was more like her to talk to. It was hard sometimes with Cheyenne, especially if it was something that didn't interest her sister. She didn't pay attention half the time and would change the subject.
"You said you liked Chinese, right? Because I can't cook at all. The drawer where I should have a bunch of kitchen utensils is filled to the brim with take out menus." She laughed at that, knowing it was probably stupid and a little weird. But that was Claire in a nutshell.

"I want her to be happy, and I try to change who she is figuring if she were more like me then she would be happy, but...Claire's not me, and I have no fucking clue how to help her."
"Oh, don't be so hard on yourself!" Flynn said and shook her head, looking towards the fire and silently hoping that the poor soul would find peace. She wasn't sure if there was a difference in whether they found peace whether their bones were burned or not, but if it made any difference then she was glad that they were able to help. They weren't just protecting themselves, they were protecting other Avisailles out there. Future generations to come.
"You're doing a terrific job. Big sisters are suppose to push their younger ones. It keeps them on their toes. If I had a younger sister I'd do the same thing." Flynn would be a little nicer and she wouldn't curse the way that Cheyenne did, but she would definitely push a younger sibling to be better.
"What about your parents? Are they still around, if you don't mind me asking. If that's too personal then you can just say so.." Flynn hadn't heard anything about their parents. But then again the issue was never brought up.

By the way she spoke about the things they needed to talk about he knew that she would want him to clarify about what he'd said before her sister had come and both ruined the moment and saved the day. He knew what needed to be said, and he was willing to share with her. His heart fluttered excitedly and anxiously in anticipation, wondering if he could wait until tomorrow, but he knew he needed to prep himself first, and also he knew that it was getting late and it had been a long evening. He didn't need to wear Claire out right now. He was sure she would be full of questions and he wanted to make sure he'd had a good nights sleep first so he would have the energy to answer them all. "Good." He said softly, smiling softly at her.
The light from the fire made her face glow amber in the dark night. He loved the way it cast shadows on her face, accentuating her features. He could see some freckles splattered here and there, her red hair almost black in the night. Her green eyes looked almost dangerous, like an animals, and it was beautiful to him. She was like a picture. He wondered if she knew how exquisite she was.
"You said you liked Chinese, right?" He chuckled. "There are way too many take out places in Scriptor Bay." He said and shook his head. It was the same in every city he'd visited. Always something new and different! "But yes. I love almost every food, Chinese included. My treat." He offered kindly before looking at the fire again.
"I'm looking forward to spending the evening with you." He offered a little nervously. "It will be nice. I hope." He chuckled nervously and cleared his throat, looking now at the waves as the fire began to die down a little.

"You're doing a terrific job. Big sisters are suppose to push their younger ones. It keeps them on their toes. If I had a younger sister I'd do the same thing." Chey seriously doubted that. Flynn didn't seem the pushing type. Not the way Claire was, but she as sure the girl would care deeply for her younger sister if she had one. She decided it was best not to reply to that. She was often full of condescending remarks, and Flynn seemed like she might be sensitive like Claire. Cheyenne could sensor herself when necessary, though she often chose not to with her sister. Claire could take it!
"What about your parents? Are they still around, if you don't mind me asking. If that's too personal then you can just say so.." The girl snorted and rolled her eyes. "It's not personal." She explained and shook her head. "Claire and I have different dads. Neither of us know our own damn fathers names, either. Moms a bitch." She knew she sounded cold when she said that and often most people didn't understand.
"She's nice to Claire than she is to me, but really, she's been absent the better part of our lives. Honestly? I've been more of a mother to Claire than she has. Our mother couldn't help Claire any more than she could help herself." She said bitterly, taking a deep swig from the bottle. Cheyenne hated their mother, and would tell anyone who dare asked.

Claire thought that a lot of the Chinese places tasted the same. But maybe that was because she usually got the same things and they probably had one way to cook it. When he offered to buy she was going to protest but then stopped herself. She could accept dinner from him, right? "You've got yourself a deal, kid!" She said playfully and even smiled at him a bit.
The fire was starting to die down and she was glad, because it was starting to get a bit hot. Maybe they should have stood a little further back. She knew that once she turned her face away she was going to get smacked with a cold rush of hair and it was going to feel amazing. That was one of those quirky things that she loved about bonfires.
"I'm looking forward to spending the evening with you." "It will be nice. I hope."
Claire looked up at him once again and could feel a bit of cold air hitting the side of her face that wasn't facing the fire. "Don't worry, I'm not going to bite you or anything." She offered to ease up the mood. Griffin had this way about him where he seemed almost innocent. Claire knew that she had that going for her as well, even though she figured Chey thought of it more as Claire's curse than anything. It didn't seem to bother Griffin though. And he was sweet. He was open about his feelings almost. He told her when he was glad to see her or happy to spend time together. It wasn't something that people usually said and she liked it.
"We'll have a good time. You'll get to meet Luna. Her and Chey hate each other, but she's really a sweet cat."

When Cheyenne called her mother a bitch Flynn just stared at her, wondering why she would call her that. But then as she described her mother then she began to feel bad for the girls. It made sense, how they two girls seemed to be so different from one another. They had two different fathers but their mother was the same woman. And they didn't know their fathers? That was sad as well. Flynn knew how it felt to have absent parents.
"I'm sorry to hear that. It must have been hard then, taking all that responsibility when your mother wasn't around." Maybe that explained why the girls were they way they were. Cheyenne must have had to be tough all her life, taking care of Claire and making sure that she stayed out of trouble. Yet still being a girl herself which made the situation that much more difficult.
"The only advice I have for this is we learn from our parents' mistakes. Although your mother and father were absent, when you have children of your own you'll know better. And you'll always have your sister there with you too." She reached out and patted Cheyenne on the shoulder gently to reassure her. She watched as the girl continued to drink the champagne and then she realized that Cheyenne still had the keys to the car.
"Perhaps I should be the designated driver tonight?" She offered and held her hand out, wanting the keys from her. She didn't want anyone who had been heavily drinking to drive. A car accident was something she'd much like to avoid!

He chuckled when she promised not to bite and he nodded his head. "We'll only bite our food." He teased, glad that she seemed in higher spirits once more. "We'll have a good time. You'll get to meet Luna. Her and Chey hate each other, but she's really a sweet cat."
When She said Luna his heart jumped in his chest. Did she have a roommate? He was glad that she said it was only her cat and nodded. "Cat's like me." He said with a chuckle. "They like...attacking me and playing with me." Maybe it was their instincts kicking in. They knew he was a prey animal in a sense. He didn't mind. He liked cats.
He felt the cool air hit him from the water and he pulled his jacket off, careful to keep turned slightly so she wasn't looking at his back. He didn't like being in just a dress shirt around others since the harness could just barely be seen. He moved and slid the jacket over Claire's shoulders. "I'll take it back tomorrow. Hold onto it for tonight." He offered and looked over at Flynn and Cheyenne talking. "Looks like they're hitting it off. Shall we join them before the fire is out, or... we could stay here if you'd rather."

"I'm sorry to hear that. It must have been hard then, taking all that responsibility when your mother wasn't around." The last thing Cheyenne wanted was pity for her situation and her lips pursed a little. She didn't want Flynn to apologize. Her life had been fine. She didn't need either of her parents. She was successful! She needed on one, and Flynn's words simply pissed her off.
"The only advice I have for this is we learn from our parents' mistakes." Yeah, she'd done that! "Although your mother and father were absent, when you have children of your own you'll know better." Cheyenne scoffed. "That's where you're wrong." She said, scrunching her toes and feeling the sand inside her boots move around. "I'm not having kids."
Cheyenne knew she was too much like her mother to breed. She couldn't be the parent they would need, and she was too selfish to try to be. It was in everyone's best interest if she just stayed child free.
When Flynn offered to drive, Cheyenne pulled the keys out and tossed them into her lap, getting up from her spot next to Flynn, thoroughly annoyed now. "Go ahead." She muttered, moving away from the girl and the fire and towards the car. She was ready whenever they all were.

"Well if you're a walking cat scratching post then Luna will love you." Claire said and laughed at the thought of Luna chasing Griffin around the apartment. She was definitely going to be up half the night cleaning! Her apartment wasn't exactly dirty but it wasn't clean either. She just had a lot of stuff in a small space and it showed. Maybe he wouldn't notice how cluttered her apartment seemed when he came over. She hoped not, because she was getting tired and she was going to curl into bed as soon as she got home.
When he wrapped his jacket around her shoulders she grabbed hold of it and pulled it tighter to keep the heat in. "Thanks." She said softly and nodded when he said she could give it back tomorrow. Maybe because it was the first time a guy had ever put their jacket on her besides Frank who had offered a couple of times but that was Frank, she started to grin ear to ear.
"Looks like they're hitting it off. Shall we join them before the fire is out, or... we could stay here if you'd rather."
Almost like it was on cue she saw Cheyenne walking by and kept her eyes on her until she got to the car. "I think you spoke to soon. Looks like it might be time to go." Claire looked back at Griffin and then at the bit of ashes that seemed to still be burning lightly. "Maybe we should clean up and head out. It's been a long day."
