Melanie shifted with Kevin as he moved to lie on his side on the couch. She did the same, curling into him with a sweet and pleased smile. They’d never really cuddle before, but she loved the idea of doing so. Kevin was her boyfriend now and all she wanted to do was adore him and snuggle him until the world was right again. They wrapped themselves around each other but Kevin reached for a blanket before they really got comfortable. That was okay by her; she was never really comfortable with being completely naked either, especially not in the common areas of the house she shared with her brother. It was warm beneath the blanket and she draped one arm over his ribs, reaching behind him to comb his shaggy hair. It worked because he was stroking her wings, and she realized no one had ever really done that before. Paolo, her Brazilian boyfriend, had always been nervous about touching them, though he did so from time to time. Kevin seemed amazed by them and it made her love him more.
He kissed her over and over, always gentle and always tender and she returned every kiss with one of her own. There was no word to describe just how happy and content she felt right there on the couch, wrapped in his arms. Her wings moved gently into his hand, bristling slightly as it sent delighted chills through her. Strange how weak they felt, though…Her family room had been transformed into their own little world. “I wish I could stay like this forever…” Melanie’s cheeks turned a light shade of pink as she smiled wider, nodding. “Me too.” Nothing would have made her happier. “When does Brandon come home?” She came back to reality a little bit with the question and she knew why he was asking. “I sort of don’t want him to see us like this…or…at all…” She gave a small, understanding smile, though she looked a little deflated. Things were going to be weird between Brandon and Kevin for a while, that much she knew; it was somewhat disappointing but completely understandable.
“He won’t be back for another couple hours. He’ll spend as much time with Jo before she shifts as he can, which means he’ll be there until about seven. And I don’t want him to catch us like this either.” She laughed lightly, letting her smile spread wide over her face. Her hand came to his face, stroking his cheek gently, her smile fading some. “Don’t worry too much about my brother. He’ll forget about all this mess in time and he won’t hold it against you. But I know it’ll be weird for a little while.” She let out a little sigh, her fingers tracing the line of his jaw, dipping into the dimple in his chin. “It’s a lot like ripping off a band-aid; it’s uncomfortable at first, but that all goes away.” Her smile came back before she leaned in and kissed him again. She didn’t really want to talk about that at the moment. She was too content to be curled against him, happy as a clam. As she stroked his face, though, she giggled a little. “You are dirty from head to toe.” She laughed, pushing some hair out of his face. “It looks good on you though,” she teased, grinning wide. “Did…you want to take a shower?” she asked hesitantly, blushing a little at how insatiable she was beginning to sound. “I mean, when you want. I’m just offering.” Her smile was bashful but sweet and she gave a breathy laugh.
