Kevin was nervous as she watched him silently. Maybe he had gone too far and he bit his bottom lip. He shouldn't have asked. Of course she didn't want to be his girlfriend! How could he be so stupid? Kevin had clearly embarrassed her and put her in an awkward position and he couldn't help but feel like he destroyed the evening. Just as Kevin was about to apologize, Melanie jumped at him, smiling and taking him completely by surprise, making him tense in terror at her suddenness. Kevin didn't like people moving too quickly, it freaked him out. But when she said yes and flung her arms around his neck he relaxed a little into her hug as she squeezed him. Instinctively he let his arms wrap around her and he was greeted with a massive amount of soft feathers tickling his hand and arms. It was weird feeling them and again it made him a little nervous, but excited too. He had a girlfriend...with wings.
It wasn't until Melanie pulled back and smiled so sincerely that Kevin eased a little. She looked so genuinely happy which made his heart swell. Was she really so happy about being with him? He reminded himself she didn't know the real him yet, and when she did she would probably change her mind. If she did.. he wouldn't let her know him. He would change for her, he would be better for her..
Her hands pulled him in to kiss him and he eagerly bent down his face to the task. It started out sweet but it didn't take long for that familiar passion to spark between them. Kissing had definitely been their strong suit. Her hands tugged gently at his hair and his hands nestled down at her hips, his fingers sliding under the cami to touch her bare skin as he pulled her body close to his. When one of her hands slid down to his shirt he gulped, feeling it tighten in her fist and making his stomach squirm. He felt her smiling and he did the same, a little shy about the fact she was being so forward, but loving it all the same.
She was pushing him back, her lips still on his, and finally she pushed him lightly onto the couch. He sat down, looking up at her and gulping. Shit, she was beautiful... He saw the wings still behind her and he devoured the image, feeling like she truly was a divine being.
The view didn't last long as Melanie climbed into his lap and he shifted a little under her, not wanting her to feel how excited she'd gotten him. He was only at half mast but surely she would feel that! He blushed, but she was kissing him again and he wasn't going to argue. He wrapped his arms around her torso, sliding them under the cami so he could feel her bare skin, the wings distracting him too much when he felt them tickle his hands. Their kisses were borderline needy, and having her on his lap like this was doing terrible things to him. He was glad when she pulled away but disappointed as well.
“You make me really happy, Kevin,” The way she nuzzled him made him shut his eyes, deep emotion running through him. He wanted to make her happy.. he wanted someone to care for, for someone to care for him.. it's what he'd always wanted; someone to love. “I can’t remember ever being this happy.” The words affected him more than they should have and his breathing became shallow as he watched her. Her lips hit his and he groaned. This was what he wanted.. This was what he needed. "You make me happy." He all but whimpered, his tone gruff and needy as his arms wrapped all the way around her, hugging her close as they kissed deeper. Kevin's lips parted, his tongue darting out to find hers hungrily.
His tongue glided over hers as his hands moved up and down despite being crossed over her back. He pulled one arm out and cupped it behind her neck, keeping her close as he made out with her. He moaned into her mouth, his brows furrowed deeply. "I don't want to hurt you.." He whimpered into her lips, fear gripping him along with the desire to be with her. He didn't want to hurt Melanie and it was his biggest fear; hurting her and fucking this whole thing up. He needed her.. He needed this! He knew how deep his issues ran, and he could feel himself getting too attached already. He couldn't stand it if she left because of him now! He had been okay with it earlier in the evening, but now that he knew how happy he was making her, he knew it was only a matter of time until he was making her unhappy. He wanted to change, but could he? Could he approach this relationship differently? Kevin was desperate to put it out of his mind as his kiss deepened, the hand still under her shirt moving around to her front boldly, and up to her chest. He gulped feeling his pants tighten again before groping her lightly, sliding his hand over her breast and cupping it there. God, did he want her..

Kevin’s groan made Melanie shudder and her hands clenched in his hair a little tighter. When he pulled back to speak, she didn’t go far, breathing quicker as her heart raced. “You make me happy.” Melanie smiled lightly before his lips came back to hers. She whimpered as his arms pulled her tight against him, kissing her deeper. When she felt his tongue, a jolt of electricity shot through her, making her face flush and her fingers tighten. Her hands moved from his hair, her arms wrapping tight around his shoulders as her tongue moved against his fluidly. She hadn’t really intended for things to escalate so quickly, but he made her ecstatic; she couldn’t really help herself. Besides, it didn’t feel wrong to move so quickly with Kevin; why would he ask her to be his girlfriend if he didn’t intend to stick around for a while? His hands moving over her sides made her breathless, his deep kisses making her whimper. She wanted to lose herself in him completely and her body pressed close to his. When he moaned, she did too, her stomach twisting with need. He was the only one who could do that to her.
“I don’t want to hurt you…” Her brow knitted, the raw emotion in his voice striking a deep chord with her. “I know…” she whispered in return, one hand sweeping through his hair again. “I don’t want to hurt you either.” She couldn’t imagine hurting Kevin. He was so sweet and caring; she would do anything to keep from hurting him. She was attached, whether it was a good idea or not, and she wasn’t going to go anywhere. Their kisses were deep and hungry and a shiver ran down her spine as Kevin’s hand moved under her shirt around to her front. She felt it move over her stomach and her ribs and her breath hitched. It grasped her breast and she whimpered against his mouth, her hands tightening on his shoulders. Though she was nervous and she hadn’t felt this need in many years, Melanie felt a carnal lust twisting her insides. She needed him desperately now and her hands ran down between them over his shirt until they reached the hem of it. Her fingers crept below the hem as her kisses became more heated.
Melanie’s hands slowly moved over his abs and chest beneath his shirt, the hot skin warming her hands even more. He was well-toned, and while she had come to appreciate a beautiful body from more of an artist’s perspective, tonight his body was making her flush all over. She wanted to feel every inch of him, admire all of Kevin. Melanie could sense his hesitation, though, and she reached one hand out from his shirt reaching behind her to find his other hand. Pulling her lips away and panting lightly against his, she watched his eyes, face flushed, as she placed his hand on her waist. She guided his hand below her cami, letting him know that she wanted this desperately. Her hands came back to his face, both out from under his shirt, kissing him again passionately. She moaned as her tongue slid across his, and her hands twined in his hair as her body pressed close. The sky could fall at any moment and she wouldn’t notice. She was too wrapped up in Kevin.
She pulled away enough to peel her cami up over her body, wiggling it over her wings when it was over her head. Once her top was off, leaving her in her bra, she pulled his over his head. The sight of his muscles was even better than the feel of them, and her heart was racing. Her hands cupped his face as she moved back in to kiss him passionately, letting lust control her movements now.

Kevin shifted underneath Melanie as her hand moved up under his shirt, groaning softly into her mouth. He wanted this.. he wanted her, but he was terrified at the same time. He liked Melanie. A lot. He didn't want to freak her out by moving too quickly but it was becoming very evident that she wanted this as much as he did by the way her hands moved over his torso and by how her lips moved frantically against his.
When Melanie pulled back he looked up at her panting, feeling like they were suddenly having an entire conversation with their eyes. She reached around him, taking his other hand and slid it to her waist and then under her shirt. It was clear as day what she was saying with no words at all and his brows furrowed a little but his thumb moved gently over the soft warm skin before gripping her waist, which was when Melanie pressed forward once more with her affectionate kisses.
Before he could get too much into it she was pulling her shirt off leaving Kevin panting as he watched in awe. This was happening! They were going to have sex on the couch his boss played video games on! It made him feel almost ill with excitement and fear. If Brandon walked in... Kevin didn't want to think about what would happen if Brandon walked in. He would be Dead, with a capital D. She reached for the hem of his shirt and pulled it up over his head and Kevin immediately felt self conscious. It wasn't as if he had a bad body. In fact, it was the opposite. He was built from a life in manual labor, but he was also scarred from a life of abuse and neglect. He was glad his scars were small and she likely wouldn't notice them at first glance.
Her kisses were hungry and he was feeling lost in them as his hands gripped her sides, moving up and down the soft skin as their tongues intertwined hungrily. He let his hands slide up to just under her breasts and then all the way down to her covered thighs, his thumbs gliding over the inside of her thighs that were wrapped on either side of him. He moved his hand back up, his fingers dangerously close to her sex as he moved his palms up her stomach to her breasts, cupping them again over her bra. Finally he shook his head, pulling away from her lips as his hands tore away from her breasts and grabbed her hips instead.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked hoarsely, not wanting to stop but not wanting to fuck it all up either. Once they had sex there was no going back. She couldn't undo it and he didn;t want her to regret the decision. "I don't want to mess this thing up, Mel.. I don't want to move to fast if you're not completely sure you're ready. I don't need to have sex with you to care for you.."

Kevin’s kisses were as eager as hers and Melanie felt her stomach twist tighter with every touch. His hands were all over her, on her hips and her stomach, her thighs and her breasts. It made her shudder with need, loving the feel of his rough hands on her. Her own hands moved over his torso too, exploring him as he did her. There was no thought as to whether this was right or not. She really liked Kevin and she was falling fast for the nervous, playful man on her couch, and this seemed like a logical step for them. She was nervous for him to see her naked, for them to be this intimate, but more than nervous she was excited. Melanie had gone through the time in her life when she thought things through before she acted on them. Every day she had to think things through before she acted or reacted to a situation in the hospital; this didn’t require thinking about. It was a no-brainer for her: she wanted Kevin and Kevin very clearly wanted her. There couldn’t be anything wrong with acting on it.
But Kevin pulled his hands from her chest and his lips from her mouth, and she panted lightly, confused. Had she done something wrong? “Are you sure you want to do this?” Melanie gave him a small, confused smile beneath her flushed cheeks. Did she seem unwilling? “I don’t want to mess this thing up, Mel…I don’t want to move too fast if you’re not completely sure you’re ready. I don’t need to have sex with you to care for you…” His concern touched her and she smiled wider and warmly, her hand coming to his cheek. “I know. I wouldn’t want to if I suspected you didn’t care for me,” she started, tilting her head to the side slightly. “And I thought we were going to make our own rules? I’m ready, Kevin.” Her body pressed closer, forcing her to look down on him more. “I want you. Maybe…maybe I’m coming off the wrong way…I’m not easy. I haven’t done this in…a really long time. But I can’t help myself around you.” She smiled a little more, blushing deeper. “The way I see it, what if the sky fell tomorrow? Then we’d have missed our chance, and I don’t want to miss my chance with you. Carpe diem.” Her mouth came closer to his, brushing against it as she spoke. “I just want to be with you.” She looked in his blue-green eyes again before she closed them and kissed him deeply once more. Sinking down lower on his lap, she could feel how much he wanted her too. It made her heart race.
Melanie feared she was being pushy, though. She didn’t want to pressure Kevin into anything. She pulled back from him once more, holding his face and looking a little nervous. “I don’t want you to be uncertain, though. I don’t want to force you to have sex with me or anything. So…if you want to, follow me up to my room. If you don’t…we can say good night.” She hoped he would follow her, come to her room with her and do what she knew he wanted to do with her. But she wouldn’t make him; he’d only resent it later and then she would lose out on a good boyfriend…she was still elated that she had a boyfriend. She kissed him one more time before shifting so she could get off the couch. She grabbed her t-shirt and her cami off the floor, admiring him half-naked on her couch as her cheeks flushed. As he got off the couch and grabbed his shirt, she moved to the bottom of the stairs which was next to the door. Her hands clench on her tops, waiting for his neck move and wondering if he would make the journey upstairs with her, or if he would say good night.

“I know. I wouldn’t want to if I suspected you didn’t care for me,” His eyes searched hers almost childishly, a hint of fear behind them. Relationships were tough for him, and he really liked this girl. Her hand on his chest made him breath easier, the smile warming him a little. “And I thought we were going to make our own rules? I’m ready, Kevin.” Yes... their own rules... “I want you. Maybe…maybe I’m coming off the wrong way…I’m not easy. I haven’t done this in…a really long time. But I can’t help myself around you.” She smiled and he pushed a smile on his face in return. No, she wasn't coming off the wrong way.. was she? No! No she wasn't that type of girl. Melanie was perfect.. “The way I see it, what if the sky fell tomorrow? Then we’d have missed our chance, and I don’t want to miss my chance with you. Carpe diem.” It was like she was trying to talk him into doing something he already really wanted to do. His eyes stayed on hers, his head tilted up slightly. Her body was moving in all the right ways, arousing him more and his hands moved up higher on her waist as her lips brushed over his as she spoke. “I just want to be with you.”
Melanie was saying all the right things to him. She wanted to be with him, she wanted to seize this and every moment. He groaned into their kiss, sliding his hands to her back and sliding them all the way up to her bra strap, feeling her feathers tickles his hand. He didn't unclasp her bra, though. Ever the nervous one. He lost himself in her kiss, letting the cruise control take over until she pulled away again, making him look up confused. “I don’t want you to be uncertain, though. I don’t want to force you to have sex with me or anything." Force? No.. Uncertain? Yes, he was definitely uncertain, but he was a guy, he wasn't supposed to be uncertain! He was supposed to want this wholly! "So…if you want to, follow me up to my room. If you don’t…we can say good night.” Good night? He panicked a little at the thought of it. He would do anything not to say goodnight, and if that meant having sex with her all damn night, then he would do just that.
Melanie kissed him again, sealing their fate as she got up from the couch. She grabbed her clothing and he hesitated before doing the same, grabbing his shirt and holding it low over him to hide the tent he pitched there. When they got to the stairs he looked up at her trying not to seem so nervous. He didn't want to say good night. Not ever. His eyes moved to her wings and he admired them as she stood at the base of the steps, obviously waiting for his decision. He stepped up, towering over her as he usually did and gently corned her against the wall. His head tilted down so he could kiss her, gently at first before letting his tongue slide into her mouth. If she was ready to sleep with him then dammit he would be ready to.
Kevin reached his hands down, intertwining his fingers with hers and bringing them up over her head, pinning her there as he kissed her, his body moving closer to press her there. Slowly he brought her hands around his neck and slid his own down her sides, grabbing her waist and lifting her up. Once her legs were locked around him he turned and carried her up the stairs, his lips never leaving hers. He didn't need to tell her his answer; he'd simply show her.
"Which room?" He asked at the top of the steps and moved through the door she had told him to. Kevin didn't look around much, his face busy buried against Melanie's, but when he found her bed he laid her on her back and crawled over him, one arm behind her still, the other propping him up on an elbow so he could hover over her slightly. His hips dipped into hers, groaning gently as the fingers at her back toyed with the clasp of her bra, finally feeling it come undone.

Melanie’s heart was pounding as she watched Kevin. Maybe she had come off as harsh by pressing him to either take her upstairs or leave, but she was terrified we would say no. If he said no, he would think she was a loose woman and she would be mortified by that. She hadn’t had sex in over fifteen years; she just hadn’t liked anyone that way since Paolo. When she left Brazil, she’d left all carnal desires behind her, and she hadn’t rekindled them…until now. Kevin had peaked her interest and gotten under her skin, and she’d waited too long to let those desires come to the surface again. If he left her there on the stairs in her bra, clinging to her t-shirt and cami, then she would be too embarrassed by her own behavior to keep enjoying their evening. Not that he wouldn’t be allowed to come back; she would just need time to cool off and reevaluate her lustful behavior so she could prove to him that she was far from slutty. She hoped he could see that he just made her feel things she hadn’t felt in a very long time and she wasn’t entirely sure how to suppress them.
Her breath hitched when he stepped up onto the bottom step with her, looking down at her as he gently pressed her back to the wall. She looked up at him with big, nervous eyes as she waited for him to say or do something more. He leaned down and kissed her and she let out her breath through her nose, kissing him back and following his lead. Her hands were pressed to the wall, her palms warm against the cool paint. The kiss deepened and her brows knitted up, grateful he wasn’t leaving. His hands found hers and pulled them over her head, pinning them to the wall, which made a jolt of lust run through her. Her knees went weak when he pressed his body against hers. At his bidding, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and sighed at his hands running down her sides. He picked her up and she whimpered, wrapping her legs around his waist as she clung around his shoulders. Finally he began moving them up the stairs and she was so relieved she wouldn’t be humiliated.
“Which room?” “That one,” she replied breathlessly, pointing to the door at the end of the small hallway. She made sure the door shut behind them, just in case Brandon came home. Her hands released her t-shirt and cami as they came through the door, kissing Kevin harder. Her belly was tied tightly in knots, but she couldn’t stop herself. She wanted him desperately. She tucked her wings close against her back as he laid them down, and her fingers buried in his hair as he situated himself on top of her. At the feel of his hips pressing against hers, letting her feel what waited inside his jeans, she moaned as he groaned. She felt him fiddling with her bra under her, so she arched to give him better access to the clasp. The hooks popped and her breasts felt freer, though they weren’t completely free yet. She fell back to the bed, flushed and hot all over, still kissing him passionately. Her fingers clung gently to his back and she brought her hips up to his eagerly with a soft moan. Kevin wasn’t small, that much was apparent, and it made her both nervous and excited to wonder what it would be like after all these years. A nervous hand slipped down his back and snaked its way down between them. She pulled back from him just slightly, watching his face as her hand felt over his package, making her lips part with lust. Her heart was throbbing hard and she felt a little jittery from the adrenaline pumping through her. Her fingers began to fumble with the button of his jeans, kissing him again as she did so. How she wanted him…

Kevin kissed her hard and when Melanie's hand slid between them cupping his groin, it sent a surge of electricity through him. He croaked his moan, panting a little. He couldn't help but feel anxious about all of it. He wanted her.. he wanted this! He knew he did but what if he fucked it up? What if he hurt her or what if he didn't live up to her expectations? All those negative thoughts ran through his mind as she fumbled with the button of his jeans and he wished he'd had more to drink. Sex was always so much easier for him after a few drinks. A lot of intimate things were easier after a few drinks.
His heart was beating rapidly in his chest as he shimmied out of his jeans leaving him in his boxer briefs. He looked down at Melanie in the dim life, having the urge to make sure she wanted this, but knowing she did and it would kill the mood if he kept asking. His eyes panned from her face down her body, absorbing the view of her. The way her bra just barely hung over her breasts, the gentle curve of her cleavage... he looked down the the way her stomach caved beneath her rib cage and pooled at her navel. Her stomach bumped up just a little below her navel and then her jeans hid the rest. The hand below her pulled free and ran down her ribs and to her stomach, gently touching the warm, soft flesh. Below her he could see the pillow of feathers from her wings and he tried to calm his nerves, tried to tell himself it was okay, she wanted this, he wouldn't screw up, but even as he coaxed himself he knew deep down that he would always ruin everything. He was a ruiner and nothing good ever happened to him. He might as well enjoy it while it lasted.
Kevin moved his head down, kissing her torso right where her stomach began to cave under her ribs, pushing himself to climb almost on top of her, planting a trail of small feathery kisses all the way down, truly enjoying her body. He kissed her navel, then her stomach until her jeans hit his chin. He pulled his head up, his eyes searching hers almost asking for permission before undoing the button for her. Slowly he hooked his fingers under the waistband and began pulling them down.

Her eyes watched him worriedly, fearing that he hated her or resented her for what had just happened. But he smiled at her finally and she gave a smile of her own. He twisted and leaned down to kiss her gently, and she returned it with one of her own. Okay, he didn’t hate her. She relaxed a little more. When he pulled away she smiled at him, running her fingers along his jaw tenderly. “I never know what to say after sex…” Melanie smiled more warmly and lifted her lips to his one more time, giving him a tender kiss before pushing herself to her elbows. She pulled away and began to sit up next to him.
“How about, ‘Jeez, Mel, that was awesome. We should do it again sometime.’ Then I could say, ‘Thanks, Kev! I’d love to!’” Her suggestion was playful and she smiled wide at him as her shoulder leaned against his and she drew her knees up to her chest. She leaned in to kiss him again and afterwards bit her bottom lip gently, showing she was a little nervous. Her eyes searched his face, looking for any sign that he was upset with her. “I pressured you, didn’t I? Are you angry with me?” Before he could even answer, she had to look away, afraid of what he might say. Her forehead came to her knees and she sighed heavily. “I’m the worst girlfriend ever,” she mumbled, feeling like she should have been more patient, that she had, indeed, moved too fast. What could she do to make up for it? Had she ruined the best thing to come into her life in a very long time? She was afraid it would be her fault now if things didn’t work out.

“I never know what to say after sex…” He said awkwardly and looked down at Mel, who smiled up at him and reached up to kiss him before sitting up next to him. “How about, ‘Jeez, Mel, that was awesome. We should do it again sometime.’ Then I could say, ‘Thanks, Kev! I’d love to!’” She smiled and it was infections. He rocked away playfully as she nudged him with her shoulder and he chuckled again, grateful for her lighthearted answer. He had a tendency to be awkward, but she had easily shifted the situation into something funny and sweet.
Before he could say anything she leaned in and kissed him again and then her face moved back a little, her eyes searching his. The smile had faded a little and he was gazing back at her, not sure how she was feeling. She looked almost worried and he fed off of it. Had he done something wrong? No, she was fine a moment ago. Maybe he didn't come back with a funny answer fast enough and she thought maybe he didn't like it? But he'd laughed!
“I pressured you, didn’t I? Are you angry with me?” He raised his brows, surprised at her answer. Angry? She pulled her knees tight to her chest, her head buried there in her knees and Kevin watched flabbergasted. He wasn't acting angry! Was he? He did have a brooding face sometimes.. “I’m the worst girlfriend ever,” His jaw went slack and he shook his head. "No, Mel.. no, it's... I wanted it. I wanted to..." He licked his lips not sure how this had happened. He slipped into protector mode as he'd done hundreds of times before for his sister.
Kevin wrapped his arms around Melanie who was still curled up into a tight ball. He hugged her body close, nestling his nose into her hair at the side of her head. "You're a great girlfriend." He assured softly. "Are you kidding? You're everything I always thought I'd never have. I mean.. maybe I sort of felt a little pressured but I could have stopped. I could have left if I was uncomfortable or we could have stopped before when you asked. I was ready, I told you I was.." He hadn't been, but it was done now and he felt pretty good. Still crazy anxious about it all, but he'd had his sweet release and felt okay now. "Please don't be upset.." He all but whispered, his face traveling down to her knee, kissing it lightly since her face was still tucked away. "Please.. I'm sorry if I made you feel bad about anything, I didn't mean to.. I wanted to. I want you, I like you.. I want to do it again, I swear.." He pleaded, almost desperate now to get her to come around. "I swear, Mel.."

Kevin was quiet for a moment and Melanie was certain he was going to tell her that he was upset, that she had pushed too hard. “No, Mel…no, it’s…I wanted it. I wanted to…” She peeked up at him from her knees, wondering if he was just saying that to make her feel better. If anything, he seemed more confused than anything else. But she was so self-conscious, so afraid that she would disappoint him or upset him and chase him away. She didn’t know how to do this and she wasn’t sure how to interpret his actions in the aftermath of what they’d done. He was so sullen and brooding and she didn’t know if it was awkwardness or resentment that had made him so. When his arms came around her still curled up body, she felt better, keeping her eyes on his face until it was buried in her hair. She closed her eyes and let out a light sigh. “You’re a great girlfriend. Are you kidding? You’re everything I always thought I’d never have.” She let a small smile come to her lips, even though he couldn’t see it with the way her face was buried in her legs. “I mean…maybe I sort of felt a little pressured…” She frowned again, worried all over. “…but I could have stopped. I could have left if I was uncomfortable or we could have stopped before when you asked. I was ready, I told you I was…” He might have said it, but some of his actions didn’t back it up. She wasn’t totally convinced, but she was comforted that she had done things to correct her pressuring behavior. At least there was blamed to be shared.
“Please don’t be upset…” She peeked at him again when he kissed her knee, her small smile returning, and she was starting to ease up. “Please…I’m sorry if I made you feel bad about anything, I didn’t mean to…I wanted to. I want you, I like you…I want to do it again, I swear…I swear, Mel…” Now she felt bad for making him worry that she was upset with him. She pulled her face from her knees and smiled bashfully. “Okay.” The word was soft, hardly above a whisper, but she leaned in and kissed him to assure him that she wasn’t upset anymore. Well…not as upset. When she pulled back, she pushed some hair out of his face and just smiled gently at him. “I’m not upset with you, I just…you were so quiet, I thought you were upset with me.” She shook her head with a smile, looking back down at her knees for a moment, before she looked back up at him. “I guess we’re both uncertain about how to handle this.” A tiny laugh left her before she leaned in and kissed him again, unable to kiss him enough. She felt like she would never get tired of kissing him. Her hand smoothed along his cheek as she rested her forehead to his. “I really, really care for you, Kevin…” she said softly, her fingers brushing through his hair. She was easing into their flow again, content to just be close to him. The next time they did this, she wasn’t doing the pursuing, though; it made her feel too uncertain and she wasn’t used to being the pursuer. He had to know by now that she wouldn’t object to any move he made.
Her phone dinged on her bedside table and she jumped a little at the sound. She pulled from Kevin only to grab it, and then she came back to leaning against him. It was from Brandon: “On my way home.” Jo’s apartment couldn’t have been more than fifteen or twenty minutes away and Melanie felt a rush of adrenaline. “Oh crap! My brother’s coming home!” Melanie had forgotten that Jo was a Therian, so there would be no reason for Brandon to stay the night. Her eyes turned back to Kevin with a nervous smile on her face. “It’s okay; we’ve got fifteen minutes at least.” She scooted off her bed, trying to gather up all of her clothes. Her underwear was the first to go back on and she tossed Kevin his with a small giggle. She felt like a teenager scrambling to put her clothes back on before her parents got home. When her clothes were on to her cami, she left her t-shirt off. Brandon would know she had shown Kevin her wings, so there would be no need to hide them anymore. She flipped one of the bedside lamps on and reached up with a giggle to rearrange Kevin’s hair, knowing she probably had sex hair too. As soon as she was done fixing his hair and he had fixed hers, she took his face in her hands to pull him in for a kiss. It was a sweet kiss and she smiled against his lips before sliding her hand down his arm to grab one of his hands. “Come on, let’s go back downstairs.”
She led him from her bedroom, past the small library they had upstairs and Brandon’s bedroom and bathroom and back down the stairs to the family room. No sign of her brother yet, so she had time to sit them on the couch and flip the TV on to some random movie channel playing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which she left it on. She curled up into Kevin as if they had been there the whole time and gave him a secretive smile as if to say, “And he’ll never know!”

“Okay.” Her tone was gentle and reassuring and Kevin gulped giving a slight nod, glad she had calmed down from thinking he was upset. He gazed at her as she swept his messy hair aside, trying not to act so childish. "I’m not upset with you, I just…you were so quiet, I thought you were upset with me.” He shook his head, wishing he could be more vocal. He was just a quiet guy. “I guess we’re both uncertain about how to handle this.” He nodded and leaned into her kiss, his brows furrowing a little as he kissed her hard, showing her with all he had that he wanted to be with her, even if words escaped him at times.
“I really, really care for you, Kevin…” she said softly, her fingers brushing through his hair. "I care about you, too." He promised gently as her phone went off. He watched as she reached for it, wondering who it was. Then he felt guilty for wondering. He wasn't paranoid! It wouldn't be another guy! “Oh crap! My brother’s coming home!” Or maybe it was another guy.
The words sank in and Kevin felt sick. Brandon was coming home? NOW?! He was butt ass naked with his sister in her bed! He would MURDER him. Why was she smiling!? Kevin looked horrified and he wasn't eased by her statement. “It’s okay; we’ve got fifteen minutes at least.” Fifteen minutes. That wasn't bad.. He scooted to the edge of the bed and put his boxer briefs on when she tossed them his way, catching a glimpse of her dressing. He got up and scrounged around getting his clothing back on, trying not to look as frazzled as he felt. This was exactly what he needed right now! When he was finished dressing she reached over and fixed his hair, and he did the same. He smiled a little when she took his face and brought it to hers, kissing her back and finding it all maybe a little bit amusing now. They definitely had gotten dressed quickly. “Come on, let’s go back downstairs.” He couldn't agree more!
Kevin sat on the couch with Mel and let her curl into him. He didn't necessarily mind her snuggling on him, but he felt a little uneasy with Brandon seeing them so cozy. That and he wasn't the best at cuddling. He put an arm around her trying not to look as awkward as he felt, his eyes on the TV until she spoke again. “And he’ll never know!” His smile was gentle and nervous but reassured. "I hope not.." He offered, pecking her forehead as they went to watching the movie.
It wasn't long until Brandon walked in the door, Kevin's hear pounding in his chest. He was guilty and terrified and hoped Brandon wouldn't see that. He cleared his throat and waved nervously at the guy, trying to look innocent. "Hey.." He greeted making sure not to touch Melanie more than necessary given their position on the couch. He licked his lips and turned to Melanie. "I should probably get going." He said softly, not wanting to intrude and make Brandon uncomfortable..or himself. This whole situation made him a little uneasy. Brandon was his boss, after all. "I'll, uhh.. I'll give you a call a little later tonight?" He offered softly.

“I hope not…” Melanie smiled wide when Kevin’s lips pressed to her forehead. Afterward, they settled in and she rested her head on his shoulder to watch the movie. She was physically drained and satisfied and quite comfortable there on the couch with his arm wrapped around her shoulders; it was enough to make her want to fall asleep. A few minutes later, she heard the front door open and she turned to look back at Brandon walking in. He looked at the two of them as he slipped his coat off, at first pausing momentarily before he smiled. “Hey…” Melanie looked at Kevin when he spoke and then back at Brandon. “Hey, man. What’re you two watching?” “HP and the Goblet of Fire.” “Without me? Mel, I never!” She laughed at Brandon’s mock scolding, shaking her head as she looked back at Kevin. “I should probably get going.” With a nod, she glanced back to her brother putting his coat away in the closet by the door. The way the closet door swung open, it blocked Brandon from Melanie’s view and vice versa. “I’ll, uhh…I’ll give you a call a little later tonight?” She smiled warmly for him. “Okay,” she replied softly before she leaned in and planted a quick, gentle kiss on his lips. Again, Brandon wouldn’t notice because he was making too much noise in the closet and was blocked from seeing them.
As her brother shut the closet door, Melanie got to her feet and clicked the TV off. She could put the TV on in her room while she cleaned up a bit. Brandon didn’t need to be suspicious of the minimal mess she had in her room as a result of having sex with Kevin. The fact that she had done with Kevin…it still made her heart pound faster. She knew her brother was going to smell the enchiladas in a second and head straight for the kitchen, so she would have time to rearrange things. Melanie walked with Kevin to the door and Brandon looked a little confused. “Oh, are you leaving?” She nodded while Kevin provided his own answer. Brandon seemed neither disappointed nor grateful for her boyfriend to be leaving. “Sorry to bust you two up.” At least Brandon was being nice about it. There was a time he would have threatened to grab a shotgun out of the closet just for Kevin having his arm around her on the couch, but he’d calmed down in the thirty-five or more years Melanie had been dating.
She was standing at the bottom of the stairs, ready to give Kevin a hug before he left when Brandon spoke up. “Hey, Kevin? Would you mind talking to me for a second outside? Just you and me?” Melanie felt her stomach tighten and she glanced at her brother. Had she been fooling herself thinking he would be okay with her and Kevin together? No, she knew Brandon better than anyone else. He had something on his mind, that was clear from the look on his face, and it was also clear he wanted his sister out of their bonding time. She frowned at him and gave him a look that was both uncertain and warning. He just looked back at her with his own sort of uncertain look, and she didn’t like it. She wanted to know what her brother and her boyfriend had to discuss that was so secret. Finally she looked back to Kevin and smiled. She gave him a quick hug and tried to reassure him with a smile. “I’ll talk to you soon,” she said softly and then pulled away completely. Brandon watched her until she was up the stairs where he knew she couldn’t hear. That didn’t mean she wasn’t going to ask him about it later.

Brandon didn’t want Melanie to hear what he was about to talk to Kevin about. The news that he was about to break to Kevin was going to have to be explained to his sister by Kevin himself. Kevin had some confessions to make. When Melanie was up the stairs he gave Kevin a strained sort of smile. “Come on; let’s go out on the porch.” With that friendly suggestion, he led his employee and his sister’s boyfriend out to the porch, even though he had just put his coat up. It would be bearable for the next few minutes and it would help him resist the urge to hang out for a long time on the porch with Kevin. There were a lot of choice phrases he could use with the boy, all of which he would avoid using if he could. He was really trying to do better this time around, and he wasn’t sure how Kevin would react to what he had to say. There was no need for a brawl on the porch and Melanie to come out demanding what was wrong with the two of them. With his hands in his pockets, he sighed as Kevin moved to shut the front door behind him. The porch was covered, so the rain wasn’t falling on them as they stood outside. How could he approach this? Brandon always preferred a straight forward approach…
Jo’s information was still ringing in his head and he wanted answers. His sister deserved to know the truth and she never deserved to be lied to in the first place. It still baffled him why Kevin had liked to Melanie. There was no shame in having grown up in the system. A lot of kids did, and it was even more impressive that he was actually a pretty good kid despite his background. Kevin should have been proud of coming out of that life so well, although his lying proved he wasn’t as well-adjusted as he let on. So why? Brandon wanted answers, but what was more important was to tell Kevin what he knew.
“Kevin…” He paused for a moment, considering his wording with a contemplative face. “Melanie told me you grew up with your grandparents with your sister in Texas. I asked and she shared your story with me.” With a sigh, he scratched the back of his head. “Look, I know that isn’t true. I know you grew up in the system with your sister and the two of you are really close. I’m pissed that you lied to my sister, but I’m willing to overlook that if you tell her the truth. She deserves to know your real past.” He paused again, swallowing hard and looking up at Kevin with disappointed eyes. “She cares about you, Kevin. I see that, I hear it in the way she talks about you. You should see her face when you text her; it’s like her whole face just lights up. It’s the same whenever she’s around you. I know she’ll forgive you for lying, but that’s only if you come clean to her. And I’m sorry, Kevin, but if you don’t come clean to her in the next week, then I’m going to tell her myself. She needs to know.” Brandon’s face was more serious than perhaps he had ever shown Kevin. This wasn’t a matter to be taken lightly.

Kevin was glad Melanie didn't insist he stay. He was more than a little uneasy with Brandon being there, and fortunately Melanie realized this and didn't push him. When she kissed him he felt hot all over, not because it got him turned on but because Brandon was so close. All he needed to do was turn and see them and it was all over. He didn't want to fight Brandon, not in his home, not in front of his girlfriend, not ever!
“Oh, are you leaving?” Kevin looked at Melanie and then nodded. "I have some things I needed to get done today." He explained softly, which wasn't a total lie. Days off meant picking up a little around the apartment since he and his sister neglected to do so on days they worked. “Sorry to bust you two up.” He sounded sincere enough but Kevin wasn't so sure. He had a feeling Brandon was more than happy to split them apart, and he didn't blame the guy. If Kevin walked in on Kelsey snuggling with some guy, he would want the guy to hightail it out of there. Especially if he knew him and had to see him at work.
“Hey, Kevin? Would you mind talking to me for a second outside? Just you and me?” Kevin thought he was going to throw up. He felt like he did every time he got the news he and Kelsey were being moved. Every time he had ever gotten in trouble and been sent to the principle's office. With a dry mouth he nodded, "Uh.. yeah, sure." He said meekly turning to Melanie there on the step. “I’ll talk to you soon,” she said softly as she hugged him. He nodded, "Thanks for dinner. It was really good. I'll, uh.. call you later." He promised again. She nodded and moved upstairs, his eyes following her the whole way up.
“Come on; let’s go out on the porch.” Kevin really hoped this wasn't an intentions speech. Actually, he did. It wouldn't be that bad, he could just promise not to touch Mel and deny they'd done anything more than hold hands. He suddenly felt dirty for having touched her, for letting things escalate. Brandon had to know, that's why he was wanting to talk to him. He would probably threaten to cut his dick off at some point. He suddenly wished he'd left sooner.
Kevin shut the door behind him, the cold rain pounding on the overhang. He slipped his hands in his pockets, his breath coming out in a smoky puff in front of him. “Kevin…” The boy braced himself, looking at his boss. “Melanie told me you grew up with your grandparents with your sister in Texas. I asked and she shared your story with me.” That wasn't what he expected to hear. He blushed a little and gave a weak sort of nod, knowing the story was bullshit, but Brandon didn't know. What was he getting at? “Look, I know that isn’t true." What? "I know you grew up in the system with your sister and the two of you are really close." Kevin felt the wind being knocked out of him. How would Brandon know that? How could he know that? Had he done a background check or something? Not even Kevin was that psychotic about his sisters boyfriends! "I’m pissed that you lied to my sister, but I’m willing to overlook that if you tell her the truth. She deserves to know your real past.” Kevin felt as though he was going to pass out. His face drained of all color as he stared baffled at Brandon. How? How could he know? He was talking about how much Melanie cared about him and how excited she was when he texted, but he hardly heard it. He couldn't wrap his mind around the fact that Brandon knew. Brandon knew about him. What else did he know that he wasn't saying? "I know she’ll forgive you for lying, but that’s only if you come clean to her. And I’m sorry, Kevin, but if you don’t come clean to her in the next week, then I’m going to tell her myself. She needs to know.”
Kevin thought he would actually cry. He was angry and hurt and mortified. He was embarrassed that someone knew. This was his chance at a fresh start. He had a beautiful girlfriend who he'd just successfully fucked in her room, and now her brother was going to just fuck it all up for him! He silently seethed, unsure of what to even say to Brandon. He sniffed and bowed his head, glaring at the wood of the porch and shook his shaggy head. "You don't understand." He grumbled. Brandon might have wings, and that might have made things difficult for him at times, but the boy didn't understand what it was like to be a pariah the way Kevin was. He just shook his head, wanting to punch something, mainly Brandon. What was the point of even trying to explain? Brandon would still make him tell Melanie, or just tell her himself. "She didn't need to know. No one needs to know!" He growled, running a hand through his hair and turning away from Brandon. He brooded for a moment before turning and glaring at the other guy. "Why couldn't you leave me alone, man? I'm not hurting anyone! I never did anything to you!" Angry tears reddened his eyes and he shook his head again, running both hands through his mop of brown hair. He couldn't tell Melanie! Maybe she would forgive him, but she would see him differently now. She wouldn't trust him. She would see him as filthy and no good. She would see him how everyone else did. She would pick apart all his weird awkward quirks and blame it on his upbringing! She would want to know about it all. "How do you even know!"

Brandon could see how upset Kevin was. Jesus, he actually looked like he could cry, which made Brandon feel worse about calling the guy out on his lie. He shouldn’t have to feel bad, though! Kevin had lied to his little sister and for no reason! Brandon was conflicted about his feelings towards Kevin, now more so than ever. He felt bad for the guy because of what he had to live through, but he was infuriated by his dishonesty. Melanie was one of the most honest and understanding people Brandon had ever met—their father had raised them to be that way; there was no excuse for Kevin’s behavior towards her. Didn’t he know she wouldn’t judge him? She was the sweetest person on the planet! Kevin looked to the wood of the porch, sniffing, and Brandon was afraid he had made the boy cry. “You don’t understand.” He sighed and shook his head. “You’re right. I don’t. Why don’t you try explaining it?” he pressed, sounding both irritated and concerned. The boy shook his head, and Brandon crossed his arms over his chest. He wasn’t going to let Kevin go without an explanation. Kevin was starting to look pissed now, and Brandon’s brow lowered over his eyes, his body tensing. He didn’t want to fight him, but Brandon would defend himself if necessary.
“She didn’t need to know. No one needs to know!” Thankfully Kevin turned away from him; Brandon didn’t like the tone the boy was using with him. “Why couldn’t you leave me alone, man? I’m not hurting anyone! I never did anything to you!” Brandon’s eyebrow quirked up. “Seriously, dude? You have a sister and I know you two are as close if not closer than Melanie and I. Would you stand by if you knew a guy she was seeing was boldface lying to her? You don’t think Melanie would be hurt if she found out months down the line that you’ve been lying to her?” Kevin couldn’t really be that naïve. Brandon was certain he had thought about all of this, which made Brandon even angrier that he continued to weave the lies and not correct himself. “How do you even know?!” This was the part Brandon wasn’t looking forward to. Unlike Kevin, he had to be honest. If the guy ended up sticking around for a while, he would know who Brandon’s girlfriend was and he would figure it out on his own. Jo wasn’t going to be happy, but he would diffuse that situation later. “My girlfriend is Jo Haile. I didn’t know until tonight that you guys even knew each other. She told me about you when I asked and she told me about how you and Kit met too. She meant well when she told me, so I don’t want you to get upset with her. She didn’t know why I was asking.” The last thing he needed was Kevin to storm down to her store and chew her out for telling his business; she was already having enough problems with Kit.
Brandon could see that Kevin was seething and fuming, and he didn’t want to be the reason Melanie lost a boyfriend. He rubbed his face with his with his hands before sliding his hands into his hair. “I know you’re pissed, man. I’ve been caught in a lie too and it’s no fun. But you need to listen up.” Brandon took a step closer, making sure Kevin was looking him in the eyes. “Mel is the sweetest person on the planet. I’m not just saying that because I’m her brother; you know she is. Most of the time, I think she’s too sweet for her own good. She won’t hold this against you if you come clean with her. You don’t think she needs to know? How long do you think you can keep up the rouse? How many lies have you already told her because of the tiny one you started with? You’re just going to keep telling more and more lies until you can’t cover it up anymore and she’s going to find out. How hurt do you think she’ll be then? I’m sorry, Kevin, but I won’t let that happen. I’ve seen her hurt too many times, and every time she ends up completely incapacitated for days upon days just like—” Brandon stopped himself. He didn’t know how much Melanie had told him about their father and he wasn’t going to tell him this way. Brandon took a deep breath and rubbed the back of his head in frustration before looking back at the younger man. “I’m giving you a week, Kevin. That’s plenty of time to figure out what you’re going to say. I don’t know why you lied to her about how you grew up, but you don’t need to explain it to me. If after a week you haven’t told the truth, then I’m going to do it.” He frowned, studying the man for a second before, crossing his arms over his chest again. “I like you, Kevin. I think you genuinely care about my sister, and I appreciate that. I think Mel needs someone like you in her life; I think both of you would be good for each other, from what I can tell…so I won’t stand by and watch while you fuck it up.” He waited for Kevin’s reaction, whether it was a flying fist, slouched shoulders, or angry words.
