The mans hand grabbed her wrist, stopping her second attack before she could actually hit him. Her heart pounded and Alyson knew in that moment that she was severely fucked. Her phone still lay in three pieces on the phone, her only weapon was in his grasp. She was a dead woman. She knew she should scream but she was frozen in fear, her body trembling softly as she watched the way his eyes seemed to ease. “My mistake,” He said quietly and then backed away from her. She watched, confused and relieved. “I’m leaving,” She wasn't sure she believed him and she held the lamp tight in her hands in case this was some sort of messed up trick. But he made his way out the door and she heard the distinct sound of footsteps leaving from her apartment down to the elevator. Her heart was still hammering as she dropped the lamp and dashed to the door, throwing both locks into place. It was times like these that she wished she wasn't such a bitch. It would have been nice to have a boyfriend there to protect her from this crazy shit. Maybe she should find someplace safer to live next semester..
Cadence, on the other hand, was having a quiet evening at home. Sebastian had left relatively early, which meant she could as well. He'd left plenty of work for her, some of which she did before she left, but what she could take home for the weekend, she did. No sense staying late on a Friday night if she didn't need to. She considered going out for drinks, but she just didn't feel it. She didn't want to be stuck at home if Sebastian did call, though. She would look as pathetic as he made her out to be earlier that evening, which infuriated her. She knew he was just tense about the anniversary supper, but she hated when he took it out on her. It was hard to stay mad at Sebastian, hard as she tried. He was a smooth talker, something she liked in a business partner. She wouldn't waste her time with someone who wouldn't succeed, and his sharp tongue made him a good person to help push into power. Still, it didn't make it any easier when that sharp tongue was that of a serpents and directed at her.
She was a little surprised when her phone rang, sure he wouldn't actually be calling on her, but she also knew how much he hated these family get togethers. His father probably said something to irk him, maybe even a threat, and she knew how little power he held over the oldern Davenport. Plus Prestine was a right pain in the ass and his mother a pure bitch in heels. He would want to get his frustrations out, but she would make him work for it. She answered the phone with a soft "Hello?" As if she had no idea who it possibly could be. “I must have had one too many drinks tonight, where do you live?” She paused for a moment, the fury bubbling in her stomach. There were nicer ways for him to ask to come over than asking for her address as if he didn't know it by heart. How many times had he simply shown up expecting her help or her to just put out. She pressed her lips tightly together and said her address, trying to hide her rage. He wasn't getting in her pants tonight, that was for sure. No amount of sweet talking would forgive his treatment. "Why, should I expect a visit, sir?" Her voice was poisoned sugar and she was already picking up the apartment, not wanting him to come to a home that wasn't in immaculate condition.

Sebastian could tell from her venomous tone that Cadence was used to getting calls from him. ”Why, should I expect a visit, sir?” The remark made him roll his eyes. She’d given him the address already so it was obvious that he intended to go over to her place and see her. He wanted to tell her to cut the bullshit but decided it was probably best he didn’t since he knew he was going to end up going over there and asking her a slew of his own questions. “Yes. I’m not too far from you I’ll be there shortly,” he said into the phone and then hung it up pushing it back into the inside breast pocket of his white jacket. Even though he was pretty sure he’d never been to her place before he had a feeling she’d say that he’d been there on more than one occasion. Whatever had caused this strange occurrence he knew that he had to fight fire with fire. He knew Alyson knew who he was. But if he were to go back to her place and try to convince her that she’d lost her little blonde mind then it would only result in the police getting involved. At least Cadence could handle herself if he got out of hand with her. He didn’t have to worry about breaking her if he got rough.
Although it probably would have been faster for Sebastian to hail another cab to make the journey to Cadence’s residence, he found going by foot gave him more time to try and mull over what the hell was going on. Unless Prestine managed to get her hands on some serious voodoo then he felt that the tree must have been the culprit to whatever was going on. It had fucked them up royally once what was to stop it from doing it again just because it felt like it? All he could think about as he made his way down each street with an angry look on his face was how it was impossible for his parents to be alive. His father, the man who was making his life a living hell even though he should be dead. ”You’ll never amount to anything you little prick!” His father had said to him when he was still just a boy after he’d just knocked over one of his mother’s precious vases. It hadn’t been intentional.. him and Prestine had been running around playing together when he bumped into the ridiculous column and the vase tumbled to the floor. That was the time his father decided he was old enough to receive lashings. Sebastian scoffed to himself, “the good ol’ days..” he muttered under his breath as he slowed to a stop. He’d arrived.
After a good five minutes of trying to figure out which door belonged to Cadence, Sebastian finally found himself standing in front of it and rapped against the door with the back of his knuckle. He wasn’t sure how long it would take her to answer her door but when she finally did he was leaning up against the wall as if he’d been waiting for days. “It’s about time,” he told her but his tone was light and teasing instead of the usual impatient tone that he used so much when he was forced to wait for others. “Are you going to invite me in or do I have to stand out here and grovel?” He pushed off the wall, having a feeling she wasn’t going to take his shit. The few times he had met Cadence he could tell she wasn’t a shit taker, and by the way he’d treated her back at the office he wouldn’t put it past her to still hold a grudge against him. Had he called her stupid? He was known to do that when he was exasperated. He stuck out his bottom lip and raised his brows in his best attempt at the sad puppy dog look. He couldn’t wait to just get inside and raid her liquor cabinet. God, she better have a fucking liquor cabinet, he thought.

It never took Sebastian very long to find his was to her home. Cadence was waiting, though she didn't want to make it seem that way. The last thing she needed was for Sebastian to think she would be waiting on him when that wasn't the case at all. She was sure he'd make some sort of comment about it at some point during the evening. He always did. When she heard the tap on the door she took her time going to answer it, deciding he could use a few extra moments out in the hallway waiting. It was the only control over him that she really had. Finally her fingers curled around the knob and she pulled it open, looking at the handsome, smug man leaning across the hall from her door. “It’s about time,” He seemed almost teasing in his tone, not annoyed which was a relief considering his mood from earlier. She was almost positive he would be foul tonight after his parents party, and she especially believed this when he called so soon after he must have arrived. Something had happened, he usually stayed longer at those functions.
“Are you going to invite me in or do I have to stand out here and grovel?” He asked and her brow raised. "You've never expected an invitation before." She shot back. Sebastian had, on more than one occasion, let himself into her own home. Why would he actually ask for her to invite him in tonight? His eyes were pleading and she knew in that moment he felt remorse for the way he'd treated her earlier, or he was pretending to because he wanted something. Her gut told her it was the latter. Sebastian didn't know what remorse was, and she could never expect him to.
She moved aside, silently allowing him entrance into her condo. He wasted no time coming in and making himself at home as usual. She watched him looking around as though trying to find something and she gave him a curious look as she slid the door back into place, pushing the lock across the top and bolting them in. Finally his eyes landed on her collection of liquor and he headed straight for it. Usually he waited a bit before trying to get hammered on her dime. "Rough night?" She teased going to the little white couch and sinking in. "Make me whatever you're making yourself."

”You’ve never expected an invitation before.” Why did these bitches always have to give him a hard time when he chose to be nice for once? It was a rare occasion, why couldn’t they just accept it and be grateful. When everything went back to normal he was going to have a serious talk with Alyson about just being thankful whenever he decided to be a decent being. When Cadence stepped aside he walked inside and looked around. She’d said that he’d been there before but there was nothing familiar about her apartment. But with everything ass backwards he was just going to roll with it like he was with everything else. He unbuttoned his white coat and slumped it over the back of a chair before he sat down on her sofa in the living room, making himself at home without her even having to offer her hospitality to him.
While he sat there he looked around for something to take his mind off of all of his current troubles and spotted the row of liquor that she had set up. That was exactly what he needed and he shot up making a b-line straight for it and scooped up a brandy glass. ”Make me whatever you’re making yourself.” At least she wasn’t objecting to him drinking her alcohol. As if she could stop him right now anyway. He plucked up another glass and poured them both halfway with the brown liquid before turning and walking over to where Cadence was, handing her one of the glasses and clinking it against his gently, “cheers,” he muttered and then took a sip.
As far as he could remember he didn’t know much about Cadence. They had planned on taking Snow down but then Cadence seemed to back out at the last minute because he didn’t hear from her anymore. Not that he cared either way. He was grateful that she’d saved him but it still meant that he owed her a debt that someday he was sure she’d cash in on if she ever needed some dirty work handled. “i don’t recall ever thanking you for what you did for me. How long has it been, four months? Five?” Sebastian couldn’t remember and really he’d rather just erase that memory if he could. “Without you Snow would have finished me off,” he explained and took another sip. He was coming to the conclusion that he’d fallen into some sort of alternate reality where he actually did initiate Cadence’s plan to get rid of Snow.
In this parallel universe he and Cadence clearly had a relationship with one another as well from what he could recall from the little glimpse he was given into a memory he hadn’t known he had. “What would you say the extent of our relationship was, Cadence?” Sebastian asked and studied her face as he waited for an answer before lowering hsi eyes down to get a good look at the rest of her body. He didn’t remember ever really looking her over the way he had women before Alyson. That blonde bitch was really ruining him just as Simon had said before.

Sebastian handed her a glass and then clinked it gently with his. “Cheers,” he muttered and she nodded, offering a soft "Cheers." In return before taking a sip. Her eyes followed him as he settled and she allowed him to just do as he pleased. “I don’t recall ever thanking you for what you did for me. How long has it been, four months? Five?” Cadence simply stared at him, not entirely sure what he was thanking her for. Helping him get into power? It had been a long process, but he had only been in the office for a couple of months. No, he meant something else.. “Without you Snow would have finished me off,” Finished him off? The woman only could watch, sipping her drink, unsure what to say to him. Snow had never some close to really finishing him off, though they had both suspected he had an inkling as to what they were doing. Peter had been right not to trust her, but there was no proof of her involvement other than his gut. Despite all of that, Sebastian was still acting strange. It wasn't like him to offer gratitude so openly and willingly, even for something massive.
“What would you say the extent of our relationship was, Cadence?” Ahh, a loaded question to go with all his crazy talk. The woman suddenly wished she hadn't answered the phone. Cadence wasn't much for talking about feelings or relationships or anything of the sort, and the nice thing about Sebastian was that he was exactly the same. "Currently? You're my boss and I'm your secretary. That's our relationship." She said in a firm voice. "Nothing more, unless you want to count fucking, in which case we're fuck buddies or whatever other lewd title you'd like to place on it. Nothing more or less." Sebastian wasn't interested in being tied down any more than she was, though she was exclusively sleeping with him. She didn't know, or care to know, if it was mutual. She knew she'd be angry if he'd been balls deep in some other woman, so it was easier if she just didn't know at all. "Would you say that's accurate?" Before Sebastian could answer, that familiar feeling crept through his mind..
It was late after a council meeting and Sebastian had gone off to a small bar to get a drink. The Silent Stone was just too loud for his current tastes and he needed to really think. He'd been attending the meetings for over a month now and his father was already pressing him about moving his way up the ladder. Nothing was ever good enough for that man, and it was hard not to just say screw it and walk away. Drink in hand, Sebastian sat off on his own, never noticing the lithe young woman who was walking in his direction. Cadence took a seat across from him at the small booth and he couldn't help but look at her. He knew who she was. Everyone on the council did, but the question was what she was doing there with him now. "Yes?" He asked in a cautious voice, almost warning her not to mess around with him. She was silent for a moment before opening her mouth. "You want to be leader, don't you." Sebastian felt himself grow angry at her words. Everyone knew Sebastian had a desire for leadership, it was no secret that's where he intended to end up someday, likely in the very far future. "And?" He made it clear he wasn't really in the mood for her, or anyone else's shit tonight. Or ever, really. "And I want to help you." He narrowed his eyes, immediately feeling like he was being set up. Snow disliked him, and that was something everyone knew as well. What was she getting at. "Why would you want to help me?" "Because I have an agenda, and you're a vital piece of it." She said quickly, and he could see the anxiety etched in her eyes, if nowhere else. Sebastian snorted and swallowed the rest of his drink before getting up. "Not interested." He said, but before he could even step out of the booth she was standing there, stopping him. The woman pushed him back down and scooted into booth beside him, forcing him to move back. "I don't think you understand what I'm offering you." She growled and Sebastian smirked, wanting to laugh but holding it in for the moment. "I have evidence that will not only get rid of Snow, but can also potentially harm a lot of other council members." "Then what the hell do you need me for?" "Because no one would ever suspect someone like you of being deviant enough to try and blackmail the council. You're a prick, but let's face it, you're not known for your smarts and I need someone with some amount of power to help take Snow down." As annoying as it was to hear, Sebastian knew she had a point. His reputation for intelligence wasn't exactly something to brag about. "I think you underestimate me." "I think you overestimate yourself." Sebastian went to push her aside but she stopped him. "I'm offering you a quick way up the ladder. I'm offering you power, money, and almost anything else you desire." There was a slight emphasis on the word desire and Sebastian narrowed his eyes at her. "Think about it." She slid her card on the table and got up, walking away.

”Currently? You’re my boss and I’m your secretary. That’s our relationship.” Sebastian knew that their ‘relationship’ was much more than that in this crazy little hallucinogenic trip that he was on. ”Nothing more, unless you want to count fucking, in which case we’re fuck buddies or whatever other lewd title you’d like to place on it. Nothing more or less.” There it was. So they were screwing each other every now and then. Of course they were! He’d even seen it back in the office when he got a glimpse of some fucked up memory that he never knew he had. That was before he’d gone to see Alyson and learned that the blonde human had no clue who the hell he was. ”Would you say that’s accurate?’ He was about to open his mouth to give her a reply but he felt that sharp sting in his mind once again.
The memory that played for Sebastian was one with Cadence again. He was meeting her for the first time and she had a job for him.. he was exhausted from all the damn meetings he had to go to. Having a political career was a lot of hard work and took dedication - whether it was Sebastian’s dedication or his father’s Sebastian just couldn’t tell anymore. But that job offer that she had.. she wanted to take down Snow and she needed someone stupid enough to go through with it. Although Sebastian didn’t give her an answer he knew that he was just dumb enough to take her up on her proposition. He didn’t need more of the memory to know that was the outcome. How else would he have gotten into his current position in this mindfuck of an alternate reality?
When the memory was finished playing in his mind he looked at Cadence, recalling the question that she had asked him and looking a little lost for a second before he nodded his head. “Yeah.. that sounds about right..” his words felt distant to himself as he tried to get a grip on what was going on around here.. he let his eyes wander around the woman’s home before he took a seat on the sofa and making himself comfortable, drink still in hand. “It’s been a rough night. I’m not myself,” he wasn’t going to tell her that this was all wrong and that he had no recollection of them being fuck buddies. If he said something it might change, possibly make everything right again, and Sebastian wasn’t sure if that’s what he wanted.. In this reality he had power. He had power and he was a bachelor again.. free to fuck any hot pair of legs he damn well pleased. Did he miss Alyson? Maybe. But she’d changed him. She’d made him domestic and soft! In this world he wouldn’t have someone doing that to him. The only true downside that he could come up with was his father was alive. But that was an easy fix.. yes, he’d be sure to fix that tomorrow evening for sure.
“Did you have plans tonight?” He looked around once more, looking for anything that might have given away that he was interrupting her night but he didn’t see anything that really stood out. “It doesn’t look like it.” He thought out loud and looked back up at her again as he patted the cushion beside him. “So how long has this ‘fuck buddy’ thing been going on? I’m curious,” he didn’t know what would be the right or wrong way to speak to Cadence just yet and with nowhere else to go he had to make sure that he tried to stay on her good side for now. At least until he came up with a plan or found out where the hell he lived right now. Maybe Simon would be in and he could go crash at his place. That’s where he was currently living, wasn’t it? Then again times have changed, clearly.

"Yeah.. that sounds about right..". Something about the way he said it made Cadence feel uneasy. It wasalmost as if he didn't like the arrangement or felt confusedby it. "It's been a rough night. I'm not myself,". That she knew. Cadence thought herself to be intelligent, and from earlier on hat evening she had known something was of about Sebastian, but had chalked it up to his nerves about his parents party. He always acted worse when he had to be around them. She'd become accustomed to it over the past few months and dealt with it, but that didn't make it any easier as time went on.
"Did you have plans tonight?" He looked around and she knew he was trying to find evidence that she had better things to do, but of course he would find nothing. It irked her but she hid her annoyance well. "It doesn"t look like it.". Was it a crime to enjoy an evening at home alone? She pursed her lips lightly. "No, I had no plans this evening." She told him in a short voice, sipping her drink beside him.
Her eyes stayd on him as he looked around and then at her. Was he interested in making plans or was he curious to see how long he had? Knowing him it was probably neither. "So how long has this "fuck buddy" thing been going on? I'm curious,". She simply stared at him for a long moment. Did he not know or was it a test? "About seven months." What was he getting at? Normally when he wanted in her pants he took a more direct approach. Was he planning to end it? Did she mind if he did? "Why do you ask?"
