Features: Dani has a well-formed jaw with high cheekbones to match. Her large blue eyes are flecked with green and gold in the center and tend to give her an innocent look. Dark brown hair falls to just below her shoulder blades and accentuates the light color of her eyes. She has a big, sweet smile when she shows it that lends her an almost childlike air. She’s petite and stands at 5’2”.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Dani is very unsure of herself and struggles to make her own decisions due to her upbringing. In the past she’s been taken advantage of because she can be easy to sway. She can be very proud and hates to show her weakness.
Skills/Strengths: She’s very bright and quite the talented witch. Dani is also very kind and generous and is something of a bleeding heart, even though she tries to be tough. She has a very strong will power and a strong sense of morality. When she wants something very badly, she will get it by any moral means necessary.

History: Dani was born to greatness. Madness, but greatness as well. She came from a long line of politicians—judges, senators, congressmen, lawyers, dating back to the beginning of Scriptor Bay. Some of the men in her family were known to be eccentric, but as the generations continued, it steadily became a gene to be feared—the madness gene. It touched her father soon after she was born. Her brother was seven years older than her and when their father murdered their mother and then was shot by the police officers called to the scene, her brother became solely responsible for his three-year-old sister. He was a disturbed child, especially after seeing his mother beaten and stabbed repeatedly by their father, but their butler and guardian doted on him to try and kill this behavior with kindness. It only served to make Victor feel more entitled and encouraged him to never mature past the age of eleven.
As Dani grew, her brother literally beat her into submission when he was angry, taking a lesson from their father, but he could also be very sweet and loving. Dani was the unintentional slave to her brother’s moods and as they grew, his punishments became crueler. When he was fifteen and she was eight, he began to burn her back with the cigarettes he smoked. He touched her in ways that made her cringe, but she was too afraid of her brother to stop him. As he grew, he only became more volatile and the new president of their family’s law firm and their legal guardian, Jasper, started to recognize the same behavior in him as he’d observed in his father. Seeing the torment Dani was under, Jasper tried to calm her, though he did nothing to stop her brother’s behavior. Dani grew to be a timid, quiet girl and had very few friends as a result. One high school teacher took notice of her skittish behavior and tried to befriend her, but her progress was impaired when her brother immediately placed her in a private school after finding out that her teacher was befriending her. Being from a prominent family and having a well-known criminal attorney for a brother, she was provided with an escort who looked after her safety and also tutored her. His name was Jonah and he became like a father and best friend to Dani as he strove to protect her from her brother as much as from the outside world. No one made Dani feel safer than Jonah and she came to rely on him a great deal. In many ways, he was her only friend, but she was glad she was no longer completely alone.
Finally Dani was old enough to go to college and though she didn’t stray far from Scriptor Bay, the distance was enough to allow her to grow in her own person. With her brother no longer constantly breathing down her neck, she actually made friends and practiced her magic more in the privacy of her dorm room. Her brother had not allowed it, since their mother was human and he didn’t inherit the gift, but she’d known since childhood what she was capable of. She had incurred her brother’s wrath when she’d made him piss his pants as fire shot from her fingertips once. The more powerful she became in her abilities, the more confident she grew. She found she excelled in her pre-law classes and with each day she was away from her brother, she grew stronger. When she went home, it was strange to shove that strength back down to appease her brother, and she found she no longer could. Her brother struck her and she struck right back, her hand searing his skin as fire erupted in her palm as she struck. Seeing the fear in her brother’s eyes made her feel powerful and horrible all at once. He left the house in a hurry, insisting on going without guards. It was the last mistake he would ever make. Victor had angered members of the nefarious Portland underground gambling rings he constantly threatened with prosecution if they ever mentioned his gambling problem to the press. He had become involved while defending many members of these underground rings in court and the life had sucked him in. These rings grew tired of his constant threats and disrespect, however, and they had been waiting for this opportunity to get rid of him. Before the night was over, Victor was found badly beaten and shot in an alley in Portland.
With her newfound but hard bought freedom, Dani still can’t stop blaming herself for her brother’s death. She has since completed her Juris Doctorate, devoting herself wholly to her work, and is training to take over her family’s law firm from Jasper. Dani takes on gang-related cases and is particularly intent on bringing down the human trafficking rings of Portland one gang at a time, even though her family’s firm is based in Scriptor Bay. It is still hard for her to make big decisions on her own, but she is learning and becoming stronger every day. Being weak so much of her life, she hates to show her weaknesses and comes off as a hard ass at work, but shows her truly sweet and caring nature to her clients and those closest to her.
