History:
Lucy had always been a sweet, mild mannered girl. As a child she had often wanted to volunteer and donate her things to children less fortunate. She liked visiting nursing homes and reading to children younger than her. She would feed ducks and save worms trapped on the sidewalk after it rained. She would donate all the family's canned goods and happily gave her old toys to those less fortunate. The problem Lucy had was making friends her own age. She had been small and wore big glasses and was easily lost in the shuffle, but when she volunteered people noticed her. She mattered then.
As she grew older she grew into herself more. She volunteered less often, but was still a regular at the local nursing home. She got good grades and spent a lot of time with her brothers. Her younger brother Max has aspergers. Max was as weird as they came, but Lucy had always been very patient with her strange, socially awkward brother, training him on how to act properly in society alongside her parents and her older brother Jake, who is one of her best friends. When she wasn't doing any of that she was either working on spells or reading. Magic was important to Lucy, but it wasn't something that her family really pushed or used often. It was something she had to mostly learn and experiment with on her own.
Lucy had always known that she was a little different, and not just because she was a witch. In fifth grade when the girls started noticing boys, she didn't. Her mother told her one day she would think boys were amazing creatures and would want to marry one, just like she had married daddy but Lucy knew even then that she didn't want to marry a daddy. What she wanted to marry was a mommy. The older she got, the more she wondered when these feelings towards men would emerge, but it was becoming more and more evident that not only was she not attracted to men, bu she was getting those sexual urges she had heard about for other women.
Lucy often thought of the girls in her classes. Not all of them, but certain ones like Danielle Jenkins with her long light brown hair, blue eyes and spattering of freckles on her nose. Danielle was tall and slender and gorgeous, and Lucy was drawn to her. She tried being Danielle's friend, not understanding why she was so drawn to this other girl, but Danielle and her friends rejected Lucy, treating her like the outcast freak she had, in some ways, become. That wasn't to say she had no friends. In fact, she had a handful of people she considered friends.
It wasn't really until college that Lucy came into her own. After years of struggling with her identity, she found like minded individuals in college that helped her find peace with who she was. Her years of inner struggling had molded her into the mellow, open minded woman she was now, and her confidence truly began to soar. She had even grown the courage to sing and play the guitar live, and often attended open mic nights at local bars and cafes.
