Flaws/Weaknesses: Connor has issues with self-confidence. He can be very self-deprecating and he often doubts his own judgment. Though he is capable of defending himself, he prefers to avoid confrontation. He also has a tendency to be very quiet, which goes hand-in-hand with his lack of confidence.
Skills/Strengths: Connor is very logical and thinks things through completely before he acts. He is kind and thoughtful and he gives everyone a fair chance when it comes to his personal opinion and his interactions with others. Even though he’s logical, he’s also a talented writer and musician and he is a decent artist. Despite his lack of confidence, he has the kind of laidback personality that invites others to be comfortable around him and he is able to appear quite comfortable in front of a crowd (even if he is terrified of being in the limelight).

History: The most dramatic thing that’s ever happened in Connor’s life is when his mother left. Connor was five, so he can barely recall what happened, but he can remember the tears on his mother’s face. She was a drunk and hardly able to take care of herself let alone a little boy. One day his father came home and found her passed out while Connor was trying to make a fire in the fireplace. His father couldn’t take it anymore and told her to leave. For two years Connor lived without hearing a word from his mother. Every day the little boy never strayed far just in case his mother came back from her vacation. He preferred to practice piano at home so when his mother did come back, he could show her how good he’d gotten. Music also became a way for the boy to express himself and he found comfort in the soothing sounds of the piano. After six months, he began to believe she had forgotten about him. After a year, he had to convince himself that his mother really did love him at some point.
On his seventh birthday, his mother called to wish him a happy birthday and tell him she loved him. Connor hung up the phone. For another six months his mother tried to reintegrate herself into his life, rehabilitated and staying far away from booze and moving back to Scriptor Bay to be with her son again. There was a special gift he had that only his mother could instruct him in—magic. His mother didn’t give up on trying to reconnect with him, but it took almost a year for them to reestablish their relationship. When she felt he could handle the knowledge, she told him about his magical abilities. It drew him to her again, knowing she could teach him how to foster this gift. His father kept custody of Connor and was glad he was reconnecting with his mother, but he worried she would revert back to her old ways.
The fear was unfounded. While his parents continued to live apart, they did rekindle a kind of friendship based mostly on the fact that they had a growing boy who needed both of his parents and wouldn’t benefit from seeing them fighting all the time. Connor and his mother studied magic together, but she also encouraged him to develop his artistic talents. He began to write more and sketch more, and while he never took his drawing to any great height, he was talented. His writing became a second passion, however. When he wasn’t in school, doing homework, or playing soccer, he was playing the piano and writing. While Connor had friends at school and on his soccer team, he preferred to be on his own. This led him to be a quiet, reserved person, but friendly and kind when approached.
Since entering high school he’s gained more friends and fits more into the popular group of kids than with anyone else, but he doesn’t only identify with them. He’s a drifter and still keeps mostly to himself even with friends. Quiet and thoughtful, he is a good student and on the school soccer team, writes for the school newspaper, and continues to play piano, although now for the school in Orchestra. Every day he practices his magic and pushes himself a little further. While he knows it can’t serve any major purpose in his life, he enjoys that special gift and finds that it makes things interesting if not fun.
