Liam was finally getting a night off from the Montgomery case. There wasn't much he could really do to help with it, anyway. There was no profile to be obtained, because there was no pattern of kidnappings in the area. The most he could profile was Montgomery herself to determine whether she was likely to have just run away, which was becoming a distinct possibility. Honestly, the longer it dragged out, the more frustrated the precinct was becoming. Liam decided tonight he would take the night off and visit a friend. He hadn't seen Ezra in some time, and he felt he should stop in for a chat.
Ezra was, as the kids would call him, "a cool dude." Liam enjoyed conversation with him, mostly because he could keep up. They were both quiet, bookish guys, and their conversation flowed well. Even Liam felt comfortable with expressing his rare sense of humor with the young man. And ever since he met Harley, he had been coming by more frequently.
Thinking about the girl made him scratch the back of his head with frustration. He didn't know what he felt about her. She had to be at least 65 years younger than him, probably more. But she acted so much older...That didn't change the fact that she was so much younger than him though. He felt like a dirty old man even admitting that maybe he was attracted to her. Who wouldn't be, though? She was so laid back and relaxed with everyone, smart, funny...and, yes, even pretty. Liam was so conflicted about her. It wasn't that he didn't like women, but he had never been in love, even remotely so. Love confused him. He enjoyed women from time to time, as many grown men do, but it was always take-as-you-need-it. He didn't feel nervous or get sweaty palms around them. With Harley...he did. He tried not to, but he did. But since meeting her, he wanted to know more about her, which is where Ezra came in.
They were both Geomancers. Liam wanted to know more about Geomancy, he wanted to be able to talk about it with her. Just that thought alone made him squirm, but he tried to chalk it up to not being used to being around young people. Hell, he felt weird around kids. But he didn't try to find something in common with kids...The amount of times he thought about her in a night was frustrating him. Some time with another male might help take his mind off her and more to enriching his mind, which is what he always strove for.
When he finally strolled up to the store, he saw the "Closed" sign up, but the lights were still on. His eyes drifted to the counter, and sure enough, there was Ezra, drinking tea and reading a book, his big feet kicked up on the desk. He pushed the door a little, and finding it was open, he walked in, stopping in the doorway. There was a mug on his side of the counter. His blue eyes came to Ezra's before he looked around, confused. "Do you have someone hiding in here?" he asked with a furrowed brow. When he didn't see anyone, he cocked a brow. "Were you actually waiting for me?" Liam smirked as he walked towards the counter. "You're pathetic," he joked. "How are things?"
