Doctor Harlowe rather enjoyed the experiments that they did on the patients. He also believed in animal testing if it was done to benefit the human species and keep any harm from happening to them. Humans had always been superior to all other forms of animals. Although he was rather fond of monkeys. They did have opposable thumbs after all.
When the door opened and his patient, Jordanna Haile, entered he looked over the top of his wire brimmed eyeglasses to see the short haired girl. Her features were quiet petite and she was rather delicate looking. It would be a fascinating experiment. With an open file in his hands he nodded to the examining table as if telling her to take her seat while his eyes moved back to the chart and going over the tidbits of information that he did have. With the shifting of the humans it had been difficult at first to tell which tests would get the best results from who. So it took a few days of watching them shift and getting as much information about them and the animal they shifted into as they could. Jordanna was one of the ones they had been able to watch shift and recall who it was. It was like a zoo in the bunkers at night and they were still trying to figure out what animal went to what person, but Jordanna turned into a mouse and he was well prepared for her.
"Jordanna Haile. That's how you pronounce it?" He asked and gave her the same look over the brim of his glasses once more, waiting for her answers and then scribbling down a few notes in her chart. He needed as much information as possible before he started her testing. "Are you allergic to any sort of medication? Does the sight of blood make you faint? Do you have any form of diabetes?" He asked going down a checklist and marking either the yes or no boxes depending on her answers and if she said yes to any, then he'd scribble some notes and ask her about it. "I'm going to take some blood form you first before we get started."

Jo was nervous when the guards came and escorted her away. Why were they taking her? Where were they taking her? Should she fight? She'd seen others taken and brought back, often worse for wear, but she hadn't known any of them so hadn't asked where they had been. Either way her heart raced and a a panic took over her as they half dragged her towards the infirmary. She wasn't sick! Was she getting a check up? Was that required? The questions raced through her mind and she wanted Kit or Brandon, or someone strong enough to help her!
She was practically thrust into the room with the doctor who wore wire rimmed glasses. She eyed him cautiously, keeping her distance and acting far too much like a nervous mouse. When he nodded to the exam table she hesitated, her fingers tugging at each other unsure if she should listen or not. Finally she decided it was better to listen than to fight, at least for now. She moved over pushing herself onto the table, never letting her eyes stray from the man.
"Jordanna Haile. That's how you pronounce it?" She nodded, opening her mouth as her voice rasped its way out. "I prefer Jo." She croaked, her hands clutching "Are you allergic to any sort of medication? Does the sight of blood make you faint? Do you have any form of diabetes?" She furrowed her brows. Why did he want to know if blood made her faint? "No allergies." She said and then bit her lip. "I don't really like seeing my own blood, and.. I'm not diabetic." Hell she didn't even know if diabetes ran in her family or not! Well, half her family. It didn't in her moms side.
"I'm going to take some blood form you first before we get started." She didn't want this guy coming anywhere near her but what choice did she have? She'd seen plenty of people beaten for less and she eyed the guard in the room anxiously. "What for?" She challenged, though she let him tie the latex tourniquet around her arm. She made a fist hoping her veins were cooperating today. She wasn't much in the mood to be stabbed repeatedly with a needle while he tried to find one.

”I prefer Jo.” The doctor wasn’t going to remember that. Certainly not when he had more patients to tend to, and he didn’t want to try and remember every single one of their nicknames. He would have just gone by her inmate number except he knew names made them feel comforted, like they were people and not things. Well Jordanna Haile certainly wasn’t a person. She was a specimen that he was given to study. She would be his lab rat for the next couple of days.
She explained that she didn’t have allergies and didn’t like the sight of her own blood but that didn’t mean she would faint at the sight of it. ”What for?” The biggest difference between this specimen and a lab rat was the lab rats didn’t ask questions. The corners of his lips tightened a bit at the question while he tied the tourniquet around her arm and reached for a sterile towelette, rubbing it across the inside of her joint to be sure there wasn’t any sort of germs that could cause an infection when he pricked her with the needle. He hit the skin firmly with two fingers to bring one of the veins to the surface and then poked the needle in and attached a glass vial with a label that held her number and name on it. “We’re sending your blood to our lab to run diagnostics and see what similarities it holds to other species.” He didn’t like answering questions but this one was simple enough to answer.
The doctor filled up eight vials with Jo’s blood before he held a cotton ball to where the needle was and slowly pulled the needle out and applying medical tape to keep the cotton ball against her arm so that she wouldn’t bleed down her arm. He moved the vials over to a plastic stand on the counter with inserts where he carefully put each of the vials so it stood up and was ready to be packaged. There were other vials there from his previous patient, all labelled with that patient’s name and number as well.
“The animal that you turn into is a mouse, is that correct?” He asked and reached for the otoscope that was attached to a wall mount, pulling it off and stepping closer to Jo. He turned on the light at the end, “open your eyes nice and wide for me,” he told her and with a thumb he pushed up just below her brow to make her eye even wider so he could look in around the edges and at the iris. When he was done with both eyes he moved to her ears and stuck it in each to check them out as well. She didn’t have any sort of infections so far.

“We’re sending your blood to our lab to run diagnostics and see what similarities it holds to other species.” Oh, that's all. Just going to take your blood without your permission and test it all to shit. La-di-do. Prick. This guy was colder than most doctors she met, and she'd met some frigid people in her life. She instantly disliked him and didn't want to cooperate, but for the time being she was.
She watched him fill vile after vile and she knew it was going to make her dizzy since she hadn't eaten. "You wanna save some in there for me, doc?" She grumbled, glowering at the needle before turning away, afraid to look at him. Finally after he extracted EIGHT whole bottles, he pulled the needle out.
“The animal that you turn into is a mouse, is that correct?” She pursed her lips and nodded, wishing she could go. What else did he want from her? “open your eyes nice and wide for me,” She did as she was told, looking away from the light that was shining into her eye and shifted her head slightly to let him look in her ears. She was definitely feeling a little off from the blood loss. Not very, not enough to faint, just a little woozy.
"Look I get my physical every couple years. I'm fit and healthy, so.. whatever it is you need to know just ask so I can get out of here. I don't really like doctors offices too much and truth be told this is making me uncomfortable. I'm not sick. I don't need an examination. So if you just wanna watch me shift or whatever it is, let's get on with it, huh? I want to make sure to get outside time." She knew they might be cutting it close and she HAD to see Brandon. That wasn't an option. That single hour of outside time was the only thing that seemed to get her through the day anymore.

"Look I get my physical every couple years. I'm fit and healthy, so.. whatever it is you need to know just ask so I can get out of here. So if you just wanna watch me shift or whatever it is, let's get on with it, huh? I want to make sure to get outside time."
Little did this young lady know that she wasn't going to get outside time for a while. When he finished the use of the otoscope he set it back on its mount and moved over to her chart on the counter where he jotted down notes. She was perfectly healthy. "I'm afraid you're going to miss outside time today." He said but he didn't sound at all sorry for her and turned back to her, leaving the chart on the counter and with two fingers he motioned for her to get up off the table and follow him.
There had been another door in the examination room on the opposite wall from where Jo came in, and the wall had a giant dark glass taking up most of it. Doctor Harlowe went to the door and opened it up, gesturing for her to follow after him. When he was inside the room he pulled out a little remote, pressing a button to turn on the lights and if Jo was still standing in the first room she would see that once the light was on you could see through the thick glass in the wall. Inside it wasn't glass but a mirror. It was the same sort they used for police interrogation rooms, but there wasn't a table and chairs inside this room. It looked like a bedroom. There was a cot that was much more comfortable than what she would have been sleeping on in the bunkers, a short round table was in the middle of the room but there were no chairs. She wouldn't need chairs since it was the perfect height to sit on the floor and be able to use the table. The only other piece of furniture was a children's chest in the corner. If the chest was opened she'd find crayoners, paper, a deck of cards and a few books and miscellaneous dolls.
"This is where you'll be staying until further notice."

"I'm afraid you're going to miss outside time today." Jo immediately felt her blood boil. That was bullshit! It was the one thing she looked forward to! "Well that'd pretty shitty." She grumbled, clearly annoyed, as she reluctantly got off the table and followed, pouting. "You guys should consider not running tests during the one hour of fucking free time we have. My boyfriends on the other side of that fence. It's bad enough I can't touch him, and now I won't even get to see him." She had the distinct feeling he was tuning her out, and if the guard wasn't there she would have thrown more of a fit.
She followed to the room, walking in with him as the lights came on. It looked like a bedroom almost, but plain and shitty. Why the hell were they in there? It dawned on her before he could even say anything.
"This is where you'll be staying until further notice."
Jo's already wide eyes grew larger and she shook her head, backing out of the room. "Oh, hell no! Fuck you, you can't confine me in there by myself!" A pair of strong hands grabbed her from behind and she went full postal, flailing and kicking, trying to escape the guards rough hold on her, but it was useless. "NO!" She screamed again, kicking wildly as he brought her into the room. She considered shifting but she knew she would get trapped in her clothes and then she would REALLY be in there and then she would be naked when she came to. "Let GO of me you son of a bitch! I swear to God I will kill you, LET. ME. GO!"

He was offering this specimen a comfortable bed and a place to stay away from the animals, and all she could do was scream obscenities at him and refuse? He pursed his lips together making a thin line and he watched as the guard took control and forced her into the room while she made death threats at him. Really it was useless and a little stupid. All she had to do was anger the guard enough and he’d surely beat her into submission. Through the whole exchange he didn’t say a word but just observed until she was inside the room and then he shut the door with him and the guard on the outside, leaving her to solitary confinement.
The little remote that the doctor had in his hand had different buttons that did different things. One of them turned on a two way mic that worked between the two rooms and when he was standing in front of the one way glass he watched her, hitting that tiny button. “This will all go smooth if you just remain calm and cooperate Ms. Haile,” the doctor spoke over the speaker into the room. He intended on keeping her as long as it took to complete the series of tests that he had for her, but for right now this was all that he had for her and she would remain in there for the rest of the day and night. He’d check back the next day and if she didn’t fully trash the room then maybe he’d show her a bit of kindness, but most likely he would not.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Day 2
It had been twenty four hours since doctor Harlowe put Jo into the room. She hadn’t been given any food or water in that period of time and it was instructed nobody interact with her unless it was for emergencies. But in the last twenty four hours although she may have let her frustrations out on the furniture she hadn’t been any danger to herself or anyone else so she remained isolated.
Doctor Harlowe opened up the door into the room and made his way inside, a stethoscope around his neck and an otoscope inside his pocket. The light in the room always remained on so even during the night while she was a mouse she would be in constant light unless she tucked herself under something to block it out. “Good afternoon Ms. Haile, and how are we today?” He asked her but there was no emotion in his words. He didn’t care if she wanted to get out or if she didn’t like it. All he wanted to know how she was feeling as far as her health was concerned. Surely she’d be hungry if nothing else.

Jo had no choice as the guard thrust her into the room, and before she could turn and try to get out the door was being shut and locked, leaving her alone in there. Her eyes panned around the mostly barren room, her heart racing as the fear and anger swept through her. It didn't help that she was hungry! They gave them meager portions to begin with, and she hadn't even eaten since last night! “This will all go smooth if you just remain calm and cooperate Ms. Haile,” She heard the doctors voice through some sort of speaker system, infuriating her even more. She glared at the mirror, knowing full well that it was a one way window right into her, like she was on display at a fucking circus!
"Fuck you!" She spat back, fuming. She looked around the room and realized there wasn't even a bathroom. Where was she suppose to do her business? Was she supposed to ask? Hold it? Wet herself? Then she noticed the bedpan. Were they KIDDING!? "LET ME OUT!" She screamed, running to the door and banging, but there was no one willing to hear her pleas. Angry she stormed to the little table, picking it up and throwing it at the window, which didn't seem to even budge! What was it, bullet proof? Probably! The table clattered back to the floor, which only made her angrier.
Jo spent the next half hour flinging anything and everything at the mirror, screaming obscenities and crying. By the time she was finished the room was a mess, with books and crayons and papers sprawled everywhere. The children's dresser was face down, the draws all scattered around. It look like a bomb blew up in there, and in a way one sort of had. Completely worn out, Jo sat on the mattress and let her depression finally sink in, sobbing uncontrollably.
She had no idea what time it was when she woke up, having fallen asleep at some point during her crying fit. She was still in her jumper which meant it wasn't nightfall yet. Her stomach growled angrily at her and she put a hand to it, looking at the glass. She didn't want to ask for food, to cave so easily, but fuck was she hungry! And she had to pee.. Slowly she pulled the dresser back up and moved it into a corner in such a way that it would block the window if she squatted behind it. She brought the stupid degrading bed pan over and did her business, wishing she could wash her hands or have some damn toilet paper! She truly felt like an animal, which was the worst part.
After her tantrum from earlier she spent the rest of the day moping and even picked up one of the books to pass the time. She arranged the furniture again so that not her mattress was on the ground and the bed acted as a barrier to the window. She moved the dresser in front of the bed, hoping to create a little bit of privacy for herself. If they wanted to study her while she slept, well then they were going to have to come in, and if they DID she was hightailing it out of there. But as it so happens the door never opened. Not once during the entire time she was in there, even through when she shifted.
Hungry, bored and depressed, she fell asleep under her jumpsuit. _______________________________________________________________________________________
Day 2
Jo woke up naked under her jumpsuit. She looked up and the dresser and bed frame were still there, creating some amount of privacy for her. She got dressed and then laid back down. She wasn't hungry at the moment, but her stomach was cramping from the lack of food. The hunger came in waves, sometimes so violent that she felt almost ill, other times she was hardly hungry at all.
At some point she grew bored and found the crayons, drawing a mural on the wall. If she was going to be stuck in there she might as well do something.
It seemed like hours had ticked by before she heard the door open. In waltzed that shit eating doctor and his security guard. At least he hadn't been stupid enough to leave that prick behind, because Jo was ready to tear him a new one. Angry, frustrated and hungry? That wasn't a Jo anyone wanted to deal with.
“Good afternoon Ms. Haile, and how are we today?” She glared at him, the presumptuous prick. She threw the crayon in her hand at him, and then another. "Fuck you!" She snarled as she tossed everything that was in her reach at them, which was basically just the crayons. "I am not your fucking lab rat, do you hear me? How dare you lock me in here like some caged animal, depriving me of food and water and a fucking toilet! You disgust me, you know that? You pompous, arrogant piece of shit. You call yourself a doctor? HAH!"

Doctor Harlowe suspected Ms. Haile would throw a fit once she was confined, but he didn’t expect her to be so hostile. She’d rearranged the whole room to suit her needs and although he didn’t like how she seemed to barricade the mattress on the floor for some privacy he couldn’t say that he blamed her. She began to scream obscenities, calling him names as if this was his fault. He was being paid to do a job. He was being paid a lot to do the job, in fact. It was a large sum of money to swallow one’s morals in the name of science.
“I need you to settle down Ms. Haile. I need to do a simple check up just like yesterday.” He turned to look at the guard and then through the open door into the examining room where a nurse was standing with a mask and gloves already on. Doctor Harlowe nodded to the nurse who then entered the room and after looking around found the bedpan, picking it up and leaving the room with it. The sound of high pressure water could be heard in the other room.
He could see that Jo was going to be one of those patients who would refuse to listen to simple instructions, but he had to try anyway. He pulled a pen out of his breast pocket, clicking it and holding up her chart. “On a scale of one to ten what would you say your hunger levels are at right now, Ms. Haile?” Depending on her answer he’d continue down the checklist, circling and making notes. If not, then he’d stand there patiently and wait for her to finish throwing her fit. There were quite a few questions he had to get through before he actually diagnosed her.

“I need you to settle down Ms. Haile. I need to do a simple check up just like yesterday.” She simply scoffed and glared at him. If looks could kill, he would be six feet under already. She wanted nothing more than to throw more things at this prick and his idiot guard. What she would give to be able to shift into something dangerous and take them both down! She realized that was likely the reason they chose her for testing like this; a mouse couldn't do much harm. The worst they would need when she got through with them was a band-aid.
Her eyes shot just as much venom at the nurse who came in to clean out the bedpan. It was beyond humiliating! “On a scale of one to ten what would you say your hunger levels are at right now, Ms. Haile?” Was he serious? They'd starved her for thirty six hours and they were asking how hungry she was? Jo didn't want to answer him out of spite, but she also didn't want to starve anymore and she certainly wanted out of this room.
"How hungry would you be if you hadn't eaten in a day and a half?" She growled at him and glared at the guard making it clear she wouldn't cooperate with him and if they wanted anything from her they were going to have to sedate her, because Jo was beyond reason at this point. She'd slept like shit, she was hungry and she had been deprived of the single thing that got her through her shit days there; seeing Brandon. He was probably worried sick about her! She couldn't wait to tell him what these bastards were up to and she knew he would agree to let her try to escape once he heard.
If he heard.. It suddenly dawned on her that they might continue to keep her locked up in the room. Would they do that to her? "Give me something to eat and promise me I'll get to go outside and I'll cooperate. Otherwise you could go fuck yourself."

The girl continued to give her snide remarks and Doctor Harlowe just stood there and stared at her with little to no change in the expression on his face. He didn't need to respond to her question about how hungry he would be in that amount of time. He wasn't the specimen, she was, which meant that she was the one who was forced to starve in the name of science. "Give me something to eat and promise me I'll get to go outside and I'll cooperate. Otherwise you could go fuck yourself." Did she really think that he was going to just allow her to mosey out of there and go play in the yard with the rest of the beasts?
"When we're done with our testing you'll be able to go back to the barracks and you'll be granted your regular time outdoors," he explained to her, keeping his eyes fixed on her and remaining stoic. The more she tried to fight then they would have to sedate her and he wasn't entirely against that idea at the moment. It was either sedate her or likely have her try and struggle against him if he came close enough to examine her.
So without chancing it he nodded to the guard. "Hold her down," he instructed and stepped out of the room for a moment to grab the sedative. Picking up a bottle of ketamine and a fresh syringe he entered the room once again to watch as the guard struggled to try and grab hold of Jo. When the guard was finally able to pin her down he pressed his knee into her chest and her face into the floor so that Doctor Harlowe could crouch down and inject the needle into the girl's neck, feeding the sedative into her, knowing that it would take less than two minutes for it to work its way through her enough to get her to calm down.
When Jo did finally settle down the doctor motioned for the guard to let her go which he did quickly. The doctor took out his otoscope and shone the bright light into each of Jo's eyes, checking to see if there was any change to them before realizing that there was none. At least not the kind that he was looking for and then with a sigh he put the medical piece back into his pocket and took the stethoscope off of his neck. He placed the ear piece in each of his ears and then pressed the cold part down against Jo's torso, listening to the steadying rhythm of her heart. When he was satisfied he stood up just as the nurse was coming back in with the bed pan and placed it in the exact spot that Jo had it previously. That was all that he could do for today, especially with her sedated like that.
He motioned for the nurse and the guard to follow and the three of them left Jo there to her room alone once more. The door shut and locked and would remain like so until the next day.
_______________________________________________________________________________ Day 3
The next day around the same time as the last, the door was opened once more. But this time when the doctor stepped inside he wasn't dressed in his usual white lab coat. Instead she'd find him in a hazmat suit, stepping inside the room with a small plastic bucket that looked like something a child might have to build sandcastles with only with a lid keeping it shut. There was a guard at the door again just as there had been the days before, with a gas mask covering his face. They'd decided that she wasn't going to cooperate with them, so they were going to push on the second phase of her testing.

"When we're done with our testing you'll be able to go back to the barracks and you'll be granted your regular time outdoors," Well what kind of bullshit answer was that? Did that mean they were going to be done today or another day? She pursed her lips and glared at him, deciding what to do. He didn't give her a chance to answer before he ordered the guard to hold her down.
"No!" She yelped, backing away but it was useless. He was bigger and stronger and he had grabbed her in no time, bringing her down to the floor. Jo screamed and cried out, struggling fiercely against the man but it was useless. "Get off!" She yelped as the doctor came closer to her with a syringe, which only made her fight harder and shriek more.
The pain only lasted for a moment, tears welling in her eyes from the frustration of being so utterly helpless. She wanted to go home! She wanted to be anywhere but there and in that moment she wished for Kit or Brandon, knowing they would save her. She felt safe with Brandon, but not like she had with Kit who could easily shift into a big stupid dog. Brandon had muscles and all but he couldn't exactly flap someone to death. Kit would rip out these bastards jugulars with one bite.
Jo tried to fight the drugs, but she wasn't strong enough and soon drifted off, tears dripping from her droopy eyes, whimpering incoherent pleas to be left alone.
When she woke she was alone. She had no idea how long she'd been out or what time it was but she knew that there was no food or water in there and her stomach growled fiercely. Worse her mouth was dry from the lack of water and the yelling she'd done. What she'd do for a glass of water! She moped around the rest of the day, a lot of the fight already drawn out of her. What good was wasting more of her energy on screaming and fighting? She had nothing to replenish it with.
_______________________________________________________________________________ Day 3
Jo had a hard time sleeping that night. She woke up every so often in mouse form, her stomach growling ferociously. When she woke in the morning she felt ill and dry heaved for the better part of the morning. She was too drained to do any fit throwing so she relaxed, reading the book and working on her wall mural.
Jo was hunched hidden in a corner when the door finally opened and she looked up already scowling, but the scowl wiped away into fear when she saw what the doctor wore. What the hell did he need a hazmat suit for?! Terror gripped her as she dropped the book and pushed herself further into the corner as if that could save her form whatever the fuck was in the bucket.

Doctor Harlowe moved to the opposite corner of Jo and set the bucket down in the corner. He could see the fear in her big, wide eyes and he thought she really did resemble a mouse. A frightened little mouse hiding in the corner. It truly was incredible. When he dropped the bucket in the corner he reached a gloved hand down and peeled back the lid. The smell instantly filled the room. It was the strong stench of feces. A decent portion of mice feces piled into that bucket. They had measured the right amount to fill the room with its horrid stench without being so overwhelming that it would be unbearable to breathe. But it was still strong enough that every time she'd breathe in she'd get a whiff of it.
The experiment probably looked incomprehensible, but the doctor needed to get Jo into a state of extreme duress to check if her "Human" state contained the same Harderian gland that a mouse had, which caused a discharge when a mouse was stressed out. The discharge was found around the eyelids and sometimes on the nose (but the eyes were more common) and either she wasn't stressed enough or he wouldn't find her having those similar symptoms to her animal counterpart. Therefore he decided to move on to phase 2: mice feces.
After the bucket was secured in the room the doctor left for a moment before coming back and holding up a tray that you would find in a cafeteria with the separate portion trays. There was an unpeeled orange, a baked roll, a few sticks of celery and a bottle of unopened water. It wasn't much but it was definitely more than she'd been given in the last couple of days, but would she be able to eat it with the scent of feces wafting in the air around her?
"You're almost through your testing, Ms. Haile. Although we've had a rough start I'm sure it will go smooth from here on out, yes?" He asked and looked at her through the protective glass of his hazmat suit before getting ready to step back out.

Jo watched with anxious eyes as the man moved to the another corner and put the bucket down. What was in there? Was he going to kill her? Was she ever going to get out? She felt nothing short of dread and looked at the door wondering if she could escape, but the guard was there. There was no way she was going anywhere any time soon.
Jo turned back just as the doctor was pulling the lid off. Her heart was hammering, fearing what was inside. At first she was unsure. There was no difference; no smoke or fumes or anything she could see, but it didn't take long for the smell to hit her, and when it did she immediately wrinkled her nose. Was that...? It was! Did this son of a bitch seriously just put a bucket of SHIT in her CELL?! She dry heaved but there wasn't anything in her to come up so she simply gagged on nothing, pulling at her jumpsuit to try and bury her nose in it to keep the smell out. "What the hell!" she snapped, but he was starting to move away towards the door. "You can't leave that in here!" She whined in horror. Was he going to leave that bucket in there all night? She felt her stomach gurgle angrily unsure if it was hunger or disgust or panic or a severe combination of the three.
"I'll cooperate!" She pleaded but he was coming back in, this time with a tray of food. She looked at it and then him and bit her lip. Could she eat with the smell? The stench was making any pangs of hunger go away and her stomach just simply hurt. "You're almost through your testing, Ms. Haile. Although we've had a rough start I'm sure it will go smooth from here on out, yes?" She wanted to claw his eyes out. She hated him more than life itself and she simply glared at him, the presumptuous shit. She waited for him to leave before making any move, knowing better than to open her mouth knowing something more foul than what was in the bucket would come out, and that would only get her nowhere faster.
Jo looked at the food and then the bucket before her eyes roamed around. She had to do something about the smell! Her eyes landed on one of the loose drawers from the dresser that had been in the room and sucked in a deep breath inside her suit before getting up and going to the drawer. She picked it up and emptied the contents on the floor before bringing it to the bucket, placing it upside down on top of it to block anymore of the smell from being released. The room would still stink but with time it would probably dissipate a little. She then turned to the food. She was hungry but still nauseous from the feces so she grabbed a coloring book and ripped a few pages out, wrapping each item individually to attempt to keep it safe until she knew she could hold it down better. As for the water, that she opened and took a deep sip. She knew better than to chug, knowing it would make her sick, but she needed it and it had been by far the best drink she had ever tasted. Her lips were dry she was so thirsty!. One more small sip and she forced herself to stop, hoarding her new belongings in her corner of choice so she could guard them in case that prick came back in there.

The doctor moved out of the room again and once he was sure that she would stay inside he motioned for the guard to shut the door locking her back inside. They didn't need the medical room to start smelling, and once the door was shut he left the room to go take off the hazmat suit, clean it and hang it up for a later time. The whole process took him a good ten minutes before he came back into the examination room to see the guard still standing near the door, peering through the glass at the girl inside and he still had the mask on. "You can take that off now," he said, startling the guard a little but the guard peeled off the mask.
Doctor Harlowe had the little switch back in his hand once again that controlled the lighting and speakers inside of the room. With a bit of feedback letting Jo know that the speakers were on the doctor spoke, "Now Ms. Haile, this test shouldn't take too long. You'll remain here for one more night before we release you into another room. However you will not be allowed to go back into the barracks but will given a more comfortable room." At this stage there was no way that she could be around others until they found out if she would be immune to the disease filled feces or if she would get sick, coming down with flu-like symptoms the way that humans did. It was fatal if it wasn't treated, but there were warning symptoms if she did catch it.
