Cheyenne thought that the local government was being a little too eager to get rid of this disease and she had her doubts about it. Shouldn't people make the decision if they wanted to get tested and vaccinated? The health nuts were probably going ape shit over this, but Cheyenne didn't think much of it. Carter shut down the office for the day and that was reason enough for her to not mind too much. The worst part probably was the fact that Claire was going to a different testing facility, and she was bummed because Griffin was at a different one also. She knew her sister went earlier than her, and she had been texting her all morning, but at some point Claire just stopped texting back. It didn't surprise her, really. She was probably out having lunch with Griffin after or something like that. Claire had a tendency to not answer her phone when she was with her boyfriend. Which was, like, ALL the TIME these days.
Little did Chey know how fucked up things had gotten for her sister and how they were about to get for herself. She went back to get her test and shot. She was a little surprised that the shot made her so damn woozy. "You guys should bottle that stuff.." She teased to the nurse who escorted her through the back doors. Before she really knew what was happening she was being shoved onto a bus, which was when the red flags started to really go up. Why was she on a bus? Where was she going? Did she have the disease? They weren't answering questions, and they were barking commands at them, all of which went over Cheyenne's head due to the dizzy feeling she got from the shot she had. Then the guy on the bus busted out a gun. Was he fucking serious?! A GUN?! He mentioned something about not shifting and Chey got a sick, sinking feeling in her stomach. She wasn't normally compliant but she wasn't at her best at the moment, and the thought of fighting with them just seemed like a bad idea, so she went with it. They couldn't keep her down forever!
She looked out the window, not crying like some of the others on the bus, watching where they were going and trying to memorize the roads so when she escaped from wherever she was going, she would know how to get back to the city.
The whole process made her ill. They took everything from her; her entire identity like she was some fucking animal or criminal, which she was neither! Still she was compliant, calculating her moves, studying her environment, and already making a plan to get out of there. It was very clear they were taking only Therians, and after she was showered and dressed in her over sized jumpsuit, she was sent to the Bunkers.
"CLAIRE!" She screamed once she got in there, knowing her sister was in the somewhere. Once she found her, everything would be alright! Now that the dust was settling, she moved through the crowd of women. "CLAIRE MCLEESTER!" She bellowed once more and in the distance she saw a head browned with blond hair turn towards her. She was there.. She was safe, and she was there. Chey pushed through the people, not caring who she shoved, and made her way to her sister, wrapping her arms around her tight and letting her eyes slide shut as she squeezed her close. "Thank God.." She whispered mostly to herself, as she held her little sister close. Was their mother there yet? Chey pulled away, cupping Claire's face and looking into her green eyes. "Are you alright?" She asked, her brows knitted as tears welled, but didn't fall. "Did anyone hurt you? I'm going to get us out of here, okay? I promise.."

Ugh. What was with the stupid notices about something in the water? She didn't even read the whole thing it was too long and it was just too much for her. She was already a mess from the weather and she even found herself a little stressed out that she had to go to a different place than her sister and Griffin just because of where she lived. But it wasn't all that bad and she'd even asked Flynn if she wanted to go with her. They lived in the same building and since Chey had the car, Flynn kept Claire company on the bus over to their testing area. She felt sort of bad though since she was texting her sister most of the time and trying to make dinner plans for the next night. Claire wanted to spend as much time as she could with Chey before they left and knew if she didn't make an effort she'd get chewed out again. But Flynn didn't seem to notice that Claire said 'uh huh' for the fifty billionth time, since she was gushing about her boyfriend, the gargoyle.
When they reached their destination Claire was about to ask Flynn if she wanted to go wait in the less crowded waiting area when a man came up and escorted Flynn in another direction. "Uh, okay well I'll just talk to you after!" She called after Flynn and then went to check herself in before plopping herself down in a chair and waiting for her turn. Some people were being escorted in another direction like Flynn was and Claire thought it was probably just a random selection. Like the raffle or something. Maybe Flynn won a prize, she didn't know. When it was her turn to get tested she grimaced when she saw the shot. Claire hated needles and when her arm was stuck she shut her eyes tight and turned her head away not wanting to watch as the medication was injected into her veins. What happened next was just plain weird.
Claire grew drowsy after the medicine was injected into her arm and needed help on her way out. "Wait, maybe I should sit down first.. I don't think I'm ready.. to.." It wasn't until the door opened and she was guided to a bus. Were they taking her home!? "Hold on my friend.." she tried to stop walking but the guard gave her a good yank. THAT was rude and she looked at him like he'd just pointed a gun in her face. Then... well, that's when she noticed the gun at his hip. Why did he need a gun where people were getting shots?! "HOLD ON!" She said and started to flail and jerked her arm trying to get out of his grasp but whatever they injected her with made her sluggish and she was placed on the bus.
The ride out of the city was a scary one for Claire. She wasn't the only one on the bus either! A little further in the back she saw one of her neighbors, Jo. And in another seat she saw a girl that she knew was kind of friends with her sister but she couldn't remember her name. Greta? She didn't know. And she ended up losing track of where they were going which only made her feel sick. Why couldn't she have watched where they were heading instead of looking around at other people!? Oh that's right, she wanted to see a familiar face!
When they arrived at the facility she began to panic. She was stripped of all her posessions and forced into a shower before given a blue jumpsuit. They'd even taken her damn underwear and given her new ones! It wasn't until she was pushed into what she assumed to be a bunker that she realized just what was going on. There were a few females that she'd seen hanging around Kit's bar from the times that she would go to pick her sister up. All of them were Therians. Flynn wasn't there either, and she'd tried looking. Where was her sister?! Would Cheyenne be brought here as well or was she somewhere else?
Claire found a little spot in one of the corners that was unoccupied and sat down with her knees up to her chest and hugged them close to her chest. She didn't know anyone well enough to talk to them and try to figure out what was going on, but she could hear some of the women talking about how they were Therians. They were in a freaking concentration camp, weren't they?! "CLAIRE!"
When she heard her name called out her first instinct was to panic. "CLAIRE MCLEESTER!" She knew that voice! She quickly clambered back up to her feet, holding onto the wall for balance and when she was upright she spotted her sister's head of blonde hair. She nearly shoved a larger woman out of her way to get to her sister and threw her arms around her when she was close enough. She heard her sister whisper something but she couldn't hear it over the sounds of all the other women in the bunker talking and crying out of fear. "Are you alright? Did anyone hurt you? I'm going to get us out of here, okay? I promise.."
Claire looked at her sister and felt the tears building up but she tried her best to fight them back. Claire didn't cry! But then again there were a lot of things Claire didn't do on a normal day. This whole month had been far from normal and she decided to just let it out. "I'm okay," she said and with a sharp gasp she let out a wave of hot tears that had been burning her eyes to get out. She was going to turn into a useless lump in her sister's hands she just knew it. "What's happening Chey? Why are we here!?"

She was alright. Cheyenne felt herself calm a little knowing Claire was alright. She could be brave as long as she had someone to be brave for, someone to protect. Claire was more than capable of taking care of herself, but that didn't stop Cheyenne from wanting to care for her sister. Claire was, and forever would be her baby sister. There wasn't a large maternal part of her, but what little there was devoted itself entirely to the scrawny kid she helped raise.
"What's happening Chey? Why are we here!?"
Chey always had an answer for everything. The majority of the time it was a sarcastic answer, but she usually had something to say. Now wasn't one of those times. She had no clue what to tell her sister. She had an idea, but it as just that; an idea.
"Someone found out about us and now they're keeping us here, probably for observation." She said softly seeing the tears welling in her sister's green eyes. "But they can't keep us here. It's not legal, it's against our human rights." Her eyes scanned the room as more people were brought in. It was just women and she was now under the impression that all of them were Therian women. That meant the men were elsewhere because there were definitely some guys on her bus. Was it just the Therians? Were there other Guardians being kept here somewhere? Maybe not all these women WERE Therians.. She noted the half dozen Guards roaming around toting guns, and she was pretty sure they would have no trouble using those guns if a lion attacked them. She knew she wouldn't if she were human.
"Listen to me." She said softly, turning back so her eyes were on Claire's. "Being afraid isn't going to get us out of here. Stay with me, okay? I'm going to figure something out. We're bound to run into some people we know, and we'll make a plan with them. We'll revolt if they don't set us free. Someone's going to have to tell us why we're here. And Livingston's going to be here somewhere! It's going to be okay, I promise. Okay?" Her eyes were intense, her brows knitted slightly.
"First thing we need to do is lay low for a day. Figure out where everything is, how they plan on running this shit show, and then we'll make our plan. Just listen to whatever they tell you."

"Someone found out about us and now they're keeping us here, probably for observation." Observation!? There had been Therians shifting in the streets and there were a few incidents, was that how they found out about them? She couldn't believe that they were actually imprisoning them! "But they can't keep us here. It's not legal, it's against our human rights." Claire took her arms off of her sister and wiped her nose on the back of her hand before sniffling. "Well we're not exactly human, are we Chey?" She didn't expect an answer from her sister and she let out a chuckle that sounded more like a whimper. "At least not to them."
"Listen to me." Claire didn't stop listening. She was trying her best to keep her cool but damn was it hard! She tried to stop the tears from coming by staring up at the ceiling. Her eyes burned like a mother! Okay?" Claire nodded her head furiously and sniffled again. She didn't care if she was blubbering like a baby she was scared out of her mind! At least she had Chey there with her, though. If she didn't have her sister she wouldn't be able to handle all of this.
"First thing we need to do is lay low for a day. Figure out where everything is, how they plan on running this shit show, and then we'll make our plan. Just listen to whatever they tell you."
Claire didn't want to listen to what the guards told them. But she wasn't a very confrontational person so she knew she would do it anyway. She wanted to just shift and run. She could run until she found a way out of there.. she was faster than the damn guards! But even as an animal she wasn't faster than a speeding bullet. She wasn't freaking Superman! That's what she kept telling herself over and over in her head to keep herself from just shifting and going rampant.
Almost on cue, a woman let out a loud scream and keeled over, shifting into a monkey and tore off her jumper. The monkey screeched while others tried to shout at her to stop, to console her and some just tried to stay out of the way and not get trampled by the others. A guard shoved her way through the crowd to get to the monkey only to have the animal jump up on the guard's shoulders and then tuck and somersault off her back, heading towards the exit. The monkey managed to get out but after hearing something that sounded like a firecracker going off Claire was sure the monkey wasn't going to make it. She was too scared to even think of what the sound was.. was it a gun? Did they tranquilize her? Shoot her!? Was that what was going to happen to them now, they were going to get shot!?
"Chey I--I can't. I can't! I can't.. I can't." Claire shook her head back and forth and backed away from her sister a bit with her arms out in front of her before bringing them up and reaching into her newly blonde hair and clutching fistfuls of her own hair. She needed to calm down and it wasn't going to happen when all the other women in the room were screaming and crying around them. "We have to get out of here! We--we have to get out of here NOW!"

Chey thought she might have gotten through to her sister. She still looked upset but she was being compliant. She just needed to keep Claire calm, which was no easy task, and safe, which may or may not be an easy task. Only time would tell. What was important was she stuck by Claire's side and made sure nothing happened to her. Chey would graciously tear anyone to shreds that messed with the natural redhead, so she just needed her sister to keep her nose clean so she could do the same.
The commotion through her off from sorting things out with her mind, though. She turned and watched the monkey freak out and jump on the guard. The guard was clearly pissed and Chey grabbed her sister, tugging her away from the whole situation in case the guards decided to get a little gun happy. Last thing either of them needed was to get hit with a stray bullet. She watched in horror, holding Claire near as the monkey got out of the room and for a moment she considered following suit and telling Claire to do the same, but then she heard the gunshot. All thoughts of shifting escaped and fear gripped her as she gripped her sister tighter.
Was she dead? She didn't hear the monkey sounds, or any other out there, but then again it was hard to hear anything over the commotion in the room. women were freaking out all over the place, Claire no exception. "Chey I--I can't. I can't! I can't.. I can't." Claire was going to lose it if Chey didn't do something, and fast. But what? She was just as terrified and it was hard for her to play the brave one when she was so unsure of everything. The "vaccine" was still making her a little loopy and she tried to grab Claire's hands. "We have to get out of here! We--we have to get out of here NOW!"
"Claire, stop!" She hissed, grabbing her sisters hands and pulling them down and forcing her to look at her. "If we try to get out of here now," She said her voice low and controlled, "the same thing will happen to us as that woman. That's not what we want." She said firmly, shaking her head from side to side. "I need you..to stay calm." She gulped, her own eyes showing the deep panic she felt herself. There were no windows, so windows weren't an option. How could they get out?
The women were all screaming and it was distracting Cheyenne. Why couldn't they shut the hell up? She noticed the vent systems but they were all in the ceiling. Too high for them to reach. "Bathrooms.." She said softly, noting there weren't any. "There's no bathrooms in here, which means they're located elsewhere. C'mon." Chey grabbed Claire's hand and practically dragged her with her to an angry looking guard. "Excuse me, but we haven't had a chance to use the bathroom in hours, and we're both about to explode all over these fancy new jumpsuits." The guard wasn't amused, but she stood her ground, standing in front of her sister protectively. "Fine. Move." He growled, nodding towards the door.
Cheyenne kept Claire close, not that she needed to with the way her sister was hovering next to her. She noticed the blood on the ground and stiffened a little. Where was the woman? The monkey? "Don't look." She whispered to her sister, trying her best to shield her from the view of the blood. It was clear they were trained to use those guns and not afraid to do so if it became necessary.
The hallway was much quieter and Cheyenne got a good look around as the guard escorted them towards the latrine. The bathrooms were lined with stalls, guards standing on either side of the doors, waiting. Cheyenne scowled at them as they passed into the bathroom. "Be quick and nothing funny." The one who had escorted them growled and she gave a nod, pushing Claire into the bathroom.
The bathroom was much quieter. In fact, it blocked most of the outside noise out. "C'mere.." Chey pulled Claire gently to the sinks and ran the water, pulling a paper towel from the wall. "C'mon, stop crying. We're going to be alright. You and me? We're tough. You know we're tough.. And you have Africa to look forward to when this is all over. Maybe I'll be that third wheel after all." It wasn't like her to be sweet, but she was attempting to for Claire's sake. She wet the paper towel and wiped at her sisters eyes. "And hey, look at the bright side.. mom's up in Canada with that rich guy she's been dating so we don't even have to put up with her shit while we're here!" She said attempting to cheer her sister up a little. Claire didn't hate their mom nearly as much as Chey did, but she knew she still wasn't a fan. Family bonding was the last thing she wanted to be forced to do right now. Aside from with Claire.. Claire didn't count.

"Claire, stop!" Stop!? How could she STOP!? "If we try to get out of here now, the same thing will happen to us as that woman. That's not what we want." "Nooo no no no," Claire shook her head only to confirm the words that came out of her mouth, agreeing that they didn't want what happened to the monkey to happen to them. Did the woman die!? "I need you..to stay calm." Calm? Calm. Right.. Claire could do calm. Claire was a pro at calm!
"Bathrooms.." Chey went on about how there were no bathrooms where they were being held and she escorted her to one of the guards where she asked if they could use the bathroom. Claire tried her best not to cower away like a useless sap but she was terrified. What would Griffin think? Would he know that she'd been kidnapped by.. the government? She didn't even know! But she was following her sister and the guard off toward the bathrooms and kept close to the other McLeester girl. "Don't look." Because when you tell someone not to look they naturally listen, right? Nope! Claire poked her head over Cheyenne's shoulder and saw the splotch of blood but no monkey or naked woman anywhere. She hoped the therian woman was alright! She was just scared and panicked!
After a brisk walk through the quiet hallway they found themselves at the bathrooms and Claire wasted no time going inside and leaving the guard out to watch the door. "Be quick and nothing funny." Was he going to shoot them if they weren't quick?! Claire hated not knowing what was going to happen. Not knowing sucked! "C'mere.." She did what her sister instructed and stood still, looking at herself in the mirror while Cheyenne pressed the damp paper towel against her red, blotchy tear stained face. If her reflection was right then she looked awful. She wasn't a pretty crier that was for sure.
"C'mon, stop crying. We're going to be alright. You and me? We're tough. You know we're tough.. And you have Africa to look forward to when this is all over. Maybe I'll be that third wheel after all." Claire hated to be treated like she was a baby and she hated when anyone tried to take care of her. Just like Chey she valued her independence and her ability to care for herself but then there were times when she was just too far off her rocker that she needed help calming down. And Cheyenne had been more than just a sister to Claire over the years.. their own mother didn't raise them. She gave them a roof over their heads but Chey had always been the one who had to take care of Claire when she was young. "An hey, look at the bright side.. mom's up in Canada with that rich guy she's been dating so we don't even have to put up with her shit while we're here!" Claire scoffed, sniffled and laughed all at the same time.
"Last thing we need is mom trying to be motherly, right?" Claire asked sarcastically, knowing that their mother would never be motherly towards them unless there was some kind of benefit for her. She tried sometimes but.. she just wasn't very good at it. "What are we going to do, Chey? We're going to be shot if we try to escape. Maybe.. maybe they'll let us go. Eventually. I mean we can hope, right?" Claire needed some hope if she was going to be tough like her sister said she was. It was one thing when the sky went dark and she had Chey freaking out and Griffin down in the dumps, she could handle that. But being imprisoned made her feel like a caged animal.
"Do you think it's just us? Or do you think they took the other guardians as well?"

She could see she was getting Claire to calm down maybe a little with the way she laughed and cried at the same time. It was better if Claire could just laugh a little. It wouldn't be so bad.
"What are we going to do, Chey? We're going to be shot if we try to escape. Maybe.. maybe they'll let us go. Eventually. I mean we can hope, right?"
She hated that question. What were they going to do? She had no fucking clue what they were going to do. They would figure something out. Cheyenne wouldn't stand to be kept there like a caged animal and would sooner organize a revolt and get shot than stick around and let these fuckers make a freak show out of her or her sister. Someone was going to die, and Chey would personally make sure of it. "I don't know yet.." She said anxiously, watching the door.
"Do you think it's just us? Or do you think they took the other guardians as well?" She pursed her lips. Cheyenne had no idea. She was under the assumption that the women in the room were all therians, but that didn't mean they didn't have others around. "Hopefully just us." She said softly, reaching up and tugging Claire's hair gently. "The less guardians there are in here, the more are out there preparing to get us out. They can't keep us here, Claire. People will begin to suspect, and.. well maybe they'll want us locked up, but they have to know you can't contain a room full of intelligent wild animals. If we all shifted at once and just attacked.. well there would be some casualties but there's no doubt we could take them down. I don't know what we're going to do yet. I'll figure something out, you know I will. Okay? For now I need you to stay calm, keep a level head and help me. I need you to not be a victim. You need to be my partner, my wing man, my second in command. I need you if we're going to get out of here alive, okay?"

”Hopefully just us.”
At first Claire thought that was the most retarded thing that Cheyenne could possibly think but then as it sunk in she realized it was actually really smart.
If it was just them then there would be help coming. And there was no way that they could get all the Therians, could they? Well.. they probably did get all of them that were in the city. She started to settle down and took a few deep breaths, shaking her hands at her sides as if she was trying to dry them off or shake all of her fear out of her finger tips. “Okay..” She shut her eyes and bounced a bit, stepping in place as if she were getting ready to sprint off but really it was to calm herself down. She’d freaked out and now it was time for her to settle down. There would be help. That’s what she had to keep telling herself.. all hope wasn’t lost!
She slowly settled down and stopped moving, feeling a sense of calm come over her that she was pretty sure would leave as soon as they left the bathrooms, but for now she was as calm as she could get. “I’m okay. We’ll just do what they say and someone will come and get us. I mean really they can’t keep us in here. Wasn’t there a rhino in the news a while back? Where’s that rhino, I hope they’re female because then she could just charge outta here, right?” She nodded, getting herself wound up at the thought of it. “There has to be something big and strong in here. They can’t watch all of us, can they? I mean what about with we shift? We’re all going to shift pretty soon and I didn’t see any cages. It might be our chance to run!”
The gears in Claire’s mind started to work and even if it wasn’t a fully worked out plan it was still something. It was enough to keep her from freaking out, even if they couldn’t get away after the shift it gave her hope. She looked at her sister who was the strong one. She didn’t even look scared because she knew she had to be tough enough for herself and Claire, but Claire was sure that Cheyenne was probably just as terrified she just hid it better than Claire ever could. “Chey.. I know we’re not the ‘let’s share our feelings’ type of family but.. I really do love you. You’re my sister and my best friend and without you I don’t know what I would do.” She braced herself, knowing that Chey would probably just make some witty little remark and roll her eyes at her. That was usually how she reacted whenever Claire expressed any kind of sappy little feelings.

Chey breathed a soft sigh of relief as Claire did her little get-pumped dance. She could see her sister was trying to settle down, which would in turn help her to keep a level head. She couldn't figure out a plan if she was constantly worried about Claire doing something idiotic out of her terror. They were on the same page now, at least Chey thought they were. It would be easier to bring her back down to earth after this, at least.
"..I mean really they can’t keep us in here. Wasn’t there a rhino in the news a while back? Where’s that rhino, I hope they’re female because then she could just charge outta here, right?" Okay, now she was thinking! Stupidly, but still there were ideas coming from the girls mind. That was good and Cheyenne just nodded, encouraging these weird thoughts because Claire had a tendency to keep rambling and rambling and raaaambling and eventually something useful would come out of her mouth, which was what Cheyenne was hoping for.
“There has to be something big and strong in here. They can’t watch all of us, can they? I mean what about with we shift? We’re all going to shift pretty soon and I didn’t see any cages. It might be our chance to run!” She nodded and smiled a little. "We'll look when we all shift later. We'll build our escape team, get together with them during free time and make our plan to bring these scumbags down." It actually wasn't a terrible idea, she had to admit. It didn't even take an insane amount of rambling to get there!
Now that they had their plan she knew they needed to go back to that room. She wanted to get her sister out of there before someone came in and forced them out. that wouldn't be fun.. “Chey.." Claire said before she had a chance to encourage their departure. She would probably have to pump Claire up again. "I know we’re not the ‘let’s share our feelings’ type of family but.. I really do love you. You’re my sister and my best friend and without you I don’t know what I would do.”
Chey pursed her lips and furrowed her brow a little at the sentiment. They weren't the lovey dovey touchy feely types. "You would keep a level head and get your skinny ass out of here." She smiled gently at the natural redhead. Chey reached up and grabbed her sisters chin between her thumb and pointer. "Don't you get all sappy on me because we're in a tough spot. We're fighters." She let go and hesitated before pulling Claire into a hug, squeezing her tight. "But I knew all that already." She said softly as if someone might overhear. "Just like you know I love you, you big dummy." She squeezed her extra hard and pulled away. "Now let's go before they come in here and force us to kick their asses." She took Claire's hand and pulled her towards the door, making sure to keep the girl behind her protectively.
