Flynn was more than happy to shake the hands of the other couple and had to bite down on her bottom lip to try and keep her smiling at bay the way she did far too often. She had just been talking to Liam about meeting her friends and then they bumped into two perfectly good strangers, and Flynn could see them becoming potential friends! Flynn loved making friends and if she could she'd be friends with everyone. Abby James and Marius Dakanis. They were such a beautiful couple! The woman with her gorgeous, curly brown hair and the man with his strong jaw! It was just perfect.
When she was tucked nicely against Liam's side she put one arm around his back so that he'd know she enjoyed being there and wanted to hold onto him as well. He was nice and warm against her and she leaned into him a bit just to take some of her weight off of her feet in those heels. She didn't know how women could wear them all the time because she could barely last a few hours in them!
"Well Liam Avery and Flynn Young," She tipped her head to the side and looked at the man, Marius Dakanis, curiously and wondering why he used their full names but she saw his smile and realized that he was just playing around and that made her laugh a bit at it, covering her mouth so that she wouldn't be too loud. "If you're not too busy maybe you would like to join us for drinks?" Drinks? Oh! That's right they were right next to the bar and they were actually going to get a few drinks before dancing anyways.
She didn't answer right away but she loved the idea of getting drinks! But she didn't know if that would be alright with Liam and looked up at him again to see what he thought about it. "Can we? We were going to get something to drink anyways!" Flynn asked him and her eyes went wide staring into his, hoping that he'd say yes!

“I’m sorry, where are my manners? Marius Dakanis.” Abby smiled from ear to ear as Marius stepped forward, introducing himself to the other couple and shaking their hands. He was so polite! She just loved that about him, but mostly because she just wasn’t like that. Abby was so casual, but it mixed well with Marius’ formality. With his arm around her, holding her waist and befriending another couple, it made her feel even more like a couple with Marius. It was their second date, so they certainly hadn’t had the “going steady” talk, but she felt like they had already decided on going to that level for some reason. Hell, she was decided! And she liked the idea of being Marius’ one and only. They were opposites, but in all the right ways, and she liked the way he complemented her.
“Well Liam Avery and Flynn Young, if you’re not too busy maybe you would like to join us for drinks?” Abby giggled at the way he used their full names, watching him as he spoke. He invited them to drinks! Obviously she wasn’t the only ones who wanted to make friends with the couple, which she found heartwarming. He wanted to make friends with her; it was sweet. She smiled at the other two before she felt Marius’ fingers run up and down her back, making her heart clench tight. It was such a small action, but it made chills run all through her body and she felt her face flushing a little with how that simple thing made her heart race. She looked up at him with big eyes, wondering why he did it. “As long as that’s alright with you.” Abby grinned, nodding and leaning against him briefly. “That’s perfect,” she replied in a soft, breathy voice, sounding almost dreamy as she smiled at him. She could just kiss him, he was so cute. She felt so swoony, but she didn’t even care. Abby had officially snagged the best date in the world.
When Liam agreed to drinks, Abby moved closer to the bar, taking Marius’ hand in her own so they could move together. Once the bartender came over, she asked the others what they would like and then ordered champagne for herself. While waiting for their drinks, she smiled over at the other couple, leaning against Marius a little so she could stay close to him. She liked the warmth of him next to her. “So have either of you been to the masquerade before?” she asked Flynn and Liam. “This is my first time and I’m just blown away by how beautiful it is. They really did a great job decorating.”

Liam liked the feel of Flynn’s arm wrapped around his back. He loved the feel of her warmth next to him, leaning on him the little bit that she was. With a smile and a nod he took Marius’ hand in a firm shake before watching as Flynn took his hand too. The guy seemed kind and polite, a suspicion which he confirmed when he invited Flynn and Liam to drinks. Liam chuckled at the way he used their full names and then looked to Flynn as she looked up at him. “Can we? We were going to get something to drink anyways!” He was supposed to say no to her when she was giving him those big eyes? Liam smiled wide, feeling his heart jump a little at the way she looked at him. “Of course,” he replied softly. If they weren’t in public, he might have just kissed her right then.
He let Flynn lead him to the bar, noting that Marius was also being pulled along and he had to laugh to himself. They were just a couple of guys at the mercy of their dates. In other words, they were two men smitten. At the bar, Abby took charge when the bartender came over, asking politely what everyone wanted. He let Flynn go first and then ordered himself a gin and tonic. He didn’t much go for the flamboyant drinks, and the gin and tonic was a good, simple, reliable drink. The bartender nodded and disappeared to fetch their drinks. Liam went back to wrapping his arm around Flynn’s waist. It was habit, by now. They had been seeing each other just long enough that he had gotten used to keeping his arm around her when she was close. Strange how something he had never done in his whole long life was suddenly the norm for him.
“So have either of you been to the masquerade before?” Abby’s voice called his attention back to her and he watched the kind woman as she spoke. “This is my first time and I’m just blown away by how beautiful it is. They really did a great job decorating.” Liam smiled and nodded his agreement. “It is beautiful. This is my first time too, though I’ve served as security a couple times before,” he replied. His eyes turned to Flynn and he rubbed her back gently to sort of call her attention to him. “You’ve been before, though, right?” He thought he remembered her mentioning that and thought she could add some insight on past years.

At the bar Marius ordered himself a scotch since it was simple yet strong. He didn't drink that often but when he did he liked to get something that made him feel warm and a little numb as it went down. Scotch was the perfect drink for that.
"So have either of you been tot he masquerade before?" He heard Abby ask the other pair and looked over in their direction and heard the other guy speak up first. "It is beautiful. This is my first time too, though I've served as security a couple of times before." He watched the man look down at his date, the two of them looking like they were just so infatuated with one another.
"You've been before, though, right?" Liam asked his companion and she seemed to just light up at the question like she was happy to talk. "I have! A few times, actually. Sometimes they do different themes but the masquerade has always been the most successful!" He had to agree with the three of them, the hall looked lovely and everyone was dressed to the nines.
When he received his drink he took a small sip, not wanting to drink it all at once and start stumbling around on the dance floor, and he looked over to Liam. "You mentioned you worked security a few times, is this what you do for a living then?" He liked finding out what people did for a living, sometimes their choice in work really defined the type of person they were. Security was nothing he could ever do. Sure, he could get mean and had even gotten into a few fights in his day but that was when he was younger. He would much rather patch a person up after a fight then be the one being patched up.

Flynn didn't drink alcohol often and when she did it was usually just a glass of wine or two, but since it was a special occasion she decided to go ahead and request a champagne. Abby and Liam talked about how beautiful the masquerade was and when she was asked if she'd been there before she nodded with a bright smile. "I have! A few times, actually. Sometimes they do different themes but the masquerade has always been the most successful!" She'd been to so many events, just standing around and watching other couples dance.
When she received her drink she looked at how the alcohol fizzled at the top the way soda did when you poured it into a glass from the carbonation, and when she took a sip she felt it tingling on her nose and she nearly laughed into the flute but stifled it so that she would spit it out. The champagne was sweet tasting and reminded her almost of strawberries! It wasn't the tart taste that some champagnes had and she could tell that it was definitely expensive! "Mmm!" She definitely liked it!
"You mentioned you worked security a few times, is this what you do for a living then?" Flynn's eyes turned to Liam, she knew what he did for a living, so she decided that she should talk to Abby instead while they discussed their careers. She noticed the girl's hair again, this time at a better angle and could see that the left side that was pulled back a bit held tiny white flowers that rested nicely against her brown hair. "Is that baby's breath? It really stands out nicely against your dark hair!" Flynn knew a little bit about plants from books that she'd read, but baby's breath was one of those that you saw everywhere. They were usually fillers in bouquets of flowers, but they looked absolutely lovely when they were by themselves!

Abby decided this couple across from them was just adorable. The way they looked at each other was so sweet, like they were completely smitten with one another. She wondered how long they had been together? Liam said he had never actually attended the event, but he had worked security, which Abby was intrigued by. She couldn’t tell with the suit whether he was well built or not, but she assumed he must be if he worked security. Flynn said she had been before, some with different themes, and Abby wanted to ask more about that too. What other themes did they do? So many questions to ask…
“You mentioned you worked security a few times. Is this what you do for a living then?” Abby was interested in finding out more about Liam too, taking a sip of her champagne as she looked between the two men. The champagne was delicious and she was afraid she might be tipsy by the end of the night. She would have to be careful. No decent man liked a tipsy girl on the second date! Just as Liam was answering Marius, though, Flynn called her attention once more.
“Is that baby’s breath? It really stands out nicely against your dark hair!” Abby smiled wide, her hand instinctively rising to her hair to feel over the sprigs gently. “Oh, yeah! Thank you for noticing! I thought it would add a nice touch to the ensemble,” she said with a cute little shrug of her shoulders and quick, playful glance to the ceiling. When her eyes came back down, she smiled wider. “I grow it in my garden at home. Most people use it for filler, but it’s such a pretty little plant, and so durable. I swear it lasts longer than any of my other plants.” She gave a soft laugh, taking in the deep, rich color of Flynn’s own dark hair. “I bet it would look even better in your hair. Your hair is so black, it would stand out much more. Would you like a little sprig, too? I’ve got a couple in here,” she offered with big, kind eyes. Abby may have been an only child, but she had always been good at sharing. When she was young, she heard that only children were terrible sharers and she took it upon herself to prove the critics wrong. Her hand came back to her hair, prepared to pull out one of the sprigs and tuck it into Flynn’s pretty half and half hairdo.

Liam watched the way Flynn’s face lit up when she talked about previous balls. He loved that childlike quality she had where every emotion she felt showed all over her pretty face. Right now, she was excited to talk about the ball and the success of the masquerade theme, and he just smiled warmly at her as she spoke. She was so animated, which was quite different from him. His eyes went back to the other couple, who he had also noticed were quite infatuated with each other, noting the way Abby’s face seemed to light up too. Here he thought Flynn was the only adult with that ability to show all of her happiness right there on her face, but Abby had proven him wrong. It made him smile to watch the two of them talk. His eyes fell back to Marius, noting how distinguished he looked with that hat and his bow tie. It was very old-fashioned and Liam reminisced silently about days when all men wore that sort of thing to these types of events. He found it interesting how fashions recycled, and Marius pulled it off well.
“You mentioned you worked security a few times.” Liam gave a slight nod. “Is this what you do for a living, then?” He had to note the accent with which Marius spoke. It was light and soft, but just noticeable enough. Where did an accent like that come from? “Yes, in a way,” Liam replied to his question. “I’m a part time criminologist for the police department here in town. This event is so large, though, they assign almost everyone to duty when the ball comes up every year. A few years, it’s been large enough that they called the part time guys in too.” His smile grew a little, highlighting that he was one of those part time guys. There weren’t many part timers at the police department, but Scriptor Bay was small enough that Liam didn’t need to be there all the time. There just weren’t that many serious criminals that needed to be profiled in this city. Part time was okay with him, though; it gave him plenty of time to perform his guardian duties, which entailed whatever the council asked of him. For him, that work usually entailed research.
“What about you? What is it you do for a living?” he asked, genuinely curious about the man. Even if Liam didn’t make friends often, people interested him. He had to note some of the similarities in their behavior, as well, which made Liam curious what this similar man did with his everyday life. Could Liam be making another friend? Flynn had apparently changed many aspects of his life, many more than he realized. Her friendly nature was rubbing off on him.

The masked man blended in well with the crowd, clad in a black on black suit with a plain gold venetian mask that elongated in the nose and hooking under giving the appearance of a beak. The mask made it nearly impossible to detect who this man was making him all the more mysterious. He moved through the crowd of the dance floor, along the sidelines and any other possible space he could get to so he could watch, follow all the attendees with his dark eyes.
When the timing felt right, when he was certain he watched everyone for as long as he should he moved through the crowd once more. He'd go up to someone and slip an invitation in their hand before moving on to the next person. The mysterious man went around and did this six times to six different people. He never spoke a word, never looked at any of them. He just handed them the invite and then moved on, back into the crowd and disappearing not to be seen again that night.
The following characters were given an invitation:
Checotah, Zane, Brandon, Liam, Claire, Flynn
These characters may write out how they received their invitation from the masked man. i.e. he bumped into you and slipped it in your pocket, or he simply handed it to you and walked away. No conversation or eye contact.

Marius listened as Liam told him how he was a part time criminologist. It sounded like a very fascinating position on the police force, to get into the minds of a criminal? Liam was probably the sort of person who paid close attention to details and he began to wonder if Liam was the sort who profiled everyone that he met. That made Marius raise a brow at him curiously, but he didn't want to be rude and ask that sort of question, especially since he assumed that was probably something he was asked often. "What about you? What is it you do for a living?"
He noticed that the girls were going about their own conversation and watched Abby pulling some of the flowers out of her hair and putting them in Flynn's. The way men bonded was such different than the way women did and he found himself chuckling a bit, realizing that he'd been distracted by the ladies and shook his head. "I'm so sorry, the women are such a wonderful distraction, aren't they?" He smiled at them and then realized that he still had to answer the other man's question.
"I'm a doctor. I work at the hospital in the ER and general care. I was rather fortunate to have the night off since there was a bit of a debacle over who would be stuck on call tonight." He explained and took a sip of his drink, feeling the liquid run down his throat and making him feel warm.
"So part time? The pay must be decent then," he stated, not knowing if Liam had another job or if he just made enough to live on a part time salary. Sometimes Marius wished he could work part time but then again he knew he'd hate it. He enjoyed working at the hospital and helping people, as cliched as that sounded. "Is that how you two met, through your work? She's not one of your criminals, is she?" Marius teased and realized that if she actually was that could be a really bad joke. Marius' jokes really stunk sometimes.

Flynn adored the baby's breath and the way it just looked so beautiful in Abby's hair! "Oh, yeah! Thank you for noticing! I thought it would add a nice touch to the ensemble, I grow it in my garden at home. Most people use it for filler, but it's such a pretty little plant, and so durable. I swear it lasts longer than any of my other plants." Abby had the most adorable laugh! Flynn just wanted to steal it and keep it in her pocket, it must be such a pick-me-up for her friends and family to hear that laugh! "I bet it would look even better in your hair. Your hair is so black, it would stand out much more. Would you like a little sprig, too? I've got a couple in here," She was going to respectfully refuse but Abby was already reaching for the little flowers and a part of Flynn really wanted them, so she bit her bottom lip to try and keep back her smile and nodded.
Flynn leaned towards Abby and bowed her head to give the girl a better view, allowing her to put the baby's breath in her hair. She couldn't believe she was making a friend so fast, someone who seemed to be just as exciteable as she could be. "Oh I wish I had your hair! I can't get mine to curl, it's flat as a board all the time." She laughed and wanted to touch Abby's hair but thought maybe she shouldn't. Flynn could get really touchy at times, and although she was content just fawning over Abby she always kept an ear tuned to what the men were saying.
"I'm so sorry, the women are such a wonderful distraction, aren't they?" She turned her attention to the two men for a moment and then glanced back at Abby and had to laugh at what her date had said. Although she could see how they could be such a distraction, the way that the pair of them were laughing and complimenting each other it must have seemed silly. Flynn wasn't mean to other women. She didn't see them as a threat to her and her lifestyle so she was always very polite and loved to compliment them. Usually when she did that it made them less hostile towards her.
She listened to Marius explain that he was a doctor and how he had been lucky enough to get tonight off. It was fascinating learning about new people. Abby seemed to be sweet and the kind of person who lit up a room with their presence while Marius looked to be more serious and straight edge.. it was an odd pairing but they looked like they meshed quite well! "So part time? The pay must be decent then," She looked over at Marius and then at Liam for a moment and wondered what he was going to say to that. It must have been difficult for him to explain why he did things the way that he did. What if they turned out to be great friends and they asked them to go to the beach together one day? Liam couldn't go out during the day and Flynn couldn't sunbathe in a bathing suit. The smile faltered a bit at the thought but then Marius spoke again and it snapped her out of her own thoughts, bringing her back to the present conversation. "Is that how you two met, through your work? She's not one of your criminals, is she?" Flynn thought he was serious at first but the way he was smiling she was a little late to the party but she realized that he'd been joking and she had to laugh. How silly of her to think he was being serious!
"Oh, you said you have a garden! It must be lovely, I've always wanted a garden but I live in an apartment building. I have a bamboo plant though! I keep it in the kitchen," Flynn told her new friend and knew that probably sounded silly. It wasn't a garden but it was her little plant that she kept alive! "What else do you grow?"

Abby laughed at the way Flynn agreed to some flowers, the way she bit her lip and nodded. The witch reached up and plucked a sprig of baby’s breath from her hair and then reached over to place it neatly in Flynn’s hair. Flynn bent down so Abby could get better access and Abby raised her head to get a better look. “Oh, I wish I had your hair! I can’t get mine to curl; it’s flat as a board all the time.” Abby giggled, sticking the sprig of flowers artfully in Flynn’s black hair, admiring the silky softness of it. “That’s funny, I’ve always wanted straight hair! My hair puffs up like an afro whenever it gets wet,” she said with a laugh. Her fingers finished placing the flowers in Flynn’s hair and she stepped back, admiring her work with a bright smile. She hardly noticed the men had fallen silent until Marius’ voice caught her ear. “I’m so sorry, the women are such a wonderful distraction, aren’t they?” Abby turned to look at her date, giving him a wide, sweet smile, her cheeks a little flushed. He was smiling and for the second time she had to refrain from kissing him in front of other people. Instead, she grabbed his hand in hers, looking back to Flynn and laughing when the other woman did. Liam agreed with Marius and gave Flynn an adoring look. They were so cute!
Her eyes moved back up to Marius as he spoke to Liam. “I’m a doctor. I work at the hospital in the ER and general care. I was rather fortunate to have the night off since there was a bit of a debacle over who would be stuck on call tonight.” Abby was glad he wasn’t on call! She would hate to be stranded at the party without her wonderful date. Her hand was still nestled in his as she looked to Liam. “We had the same issue at the police department. I’m surprised there are even police officers who try to get tickets anymore.” Abby laughed softly at Liam’s joke. “The same could probably be said of doctors,” she added playfully, glancing up to her date. She knew it was just a fluke that he had these tickets, but a very fortunate one. For their next date, they were definitely going to have to go casual—not that she minded! She liked just spending time with Marius. She took another sip of her champagne, noting again how sweet it was.
“So part time? The pay must be decent then.” Liam nodded at Marius’ statement. “It’s not bad. I do other investigative work for a law office as well, so that brings in the other half of my income.” It looked like she and Flynn had scored very smart men! They had something else in common. She looked up to Marius again as he spoke. There was something so pleasing about the way he spoke that just commanded her attention. “Is that how you two met, through your work? She’s not one of your criminals, is she?” Abby laughed, her fingers lacing in Marius’ as she did so. “Flynn’s too sweet to be a hardened criminal,” she said, smiling back at the woman. Just as Liam was about to answer how the two of them met, Flynn was asking her questions. She wasn’t upset or anything, just trying to keep up with conversation! “Oh, you said you have a garden! It must be lovely; I’ve always wanted a garden but I live in an apartment building. I have a bamboo plant, though! I keep it in the kitchen.” Abby giggled and nodded. “I love bamboo! It has such a calming quality to it. I had a bamboo plant a long time ago, but I’ve since given it away,” she said with a little pout like she was sad about giving her plant away, but she brightened again almost immediately.
“What else do you grow?” Abby loved to talk about her garden almost as she loved talking about art. “Oh, I grow all sorts of things! I have a lot of herbs and a small vegetable garden and I have a lot of flowers like lavender, roses and chamomile. I use a lot of it to make teas, but I can’t grow my own tea leaves. I just buy them, though. If you’d like to learn how to garden, I could teach you! I’ll teach you all there is to know about plants. I’ve been gardening since I was really young.” She gave a soft giggle, her hand warm in Marius’ as they made friends. This could be the start of something really special for Abby. She could just feel it in her bones.

Liam was waiting for Marius to answer his question when he saw the man look at the women they were with. His own eyes followed and found Abby taking some of the flowers out of her hair and placing them in Flynn’s. He chuckled softly, listening to how they just complimented each other’s hair; they were so easy with compliments. It was sweet to see Flynn bonding with someone so much like her, and he got lost in watching her do so, just as Marius seemed to do the same with Abby. “I’m so sorry, the women are such a wonderful distraction, aren’t they?” Liam’s eyes glanced to the man and he smiled wider with a chuckle as he looked back to Flynn and Abby laughing. “They certainly are,” she replied quietly, his hand rubbing Flynn’s back gently. When Liam looked back to Marius, he noticed that Abby had slipped her hand into her date’s. They did make a nice looking couple with the contrasts in their features, or what he could see of them around the masks.
“I’m a doctor. I work at the hospital in the ER and general care. I was rather fortunate to have the night off since there was a bit of a debacle over who would be stuck on call tonight.” Liam gave a soft laugh, nodding his head. “We had the same issue at the police department. I’m surprised there are even police officers who try to get tickets anymore,” he replied. Abby made a comment that the same could probably be said of doctors and he gave another soft chuckle, looking back to the other man. He suddenly remembered there was a drink in his hand and he took a sip of it. Liam didn’t drink often, since it never really had an effect on him, but in social situations he would. “So part time? The pay must be decent then.” It was, but it wasn’t enough for Liam to live on, but he couldn’t very well tell Marius he made the other half of his income assisting in Gargoyle investigations, now could he? This was about making friends, not alienating them. “It’s not bad. I do other investigative work for a law office as well, so that brings in the other half of my income.” The lie came easily enough; he’d said it before and it wasn’t entirely false.
“Is that how you two met, through your work? She’s not one of your criminals, is she?” Liam laughed with Abby and looked at Flynn as he pulled her a little closer with a hand on her waist. “Flynn’s too sweet to be a hardened criminal.” Abby’s comment made him nod at her. “No, she couldn’t harm a fly. We actually met by the Tree of Enlightenment. It was just happy circumstance that we were both there on the same night and we just began talking. Talking turned to coffee and before the end of the night, I was smitten.” He gave a small roll of his shoulders and a wide smile that said, “What can you do?” He glanced over at the women one more time, gathering that they were talking very animatedly about gardening. Flynn was animated about everything she talked about and he liked to watch her facial expressions. He looked back to Marius with an inquiring smile. “Did you two meet through your work?” he countered, curious about how two such different people happened to meet. For him and Flynn it was happy circumstance, but what had thrown Marius and Abby together? His eyes were kind as he waited for Marius’ response.

Marius chuckled as the joke went around the group about Flynn being one of Liam's cases. He was glad they didn't take it wrong which sometimes happened with him and by the time he realized what he'd said it was already too late. Luckily that didn't happen too often. "No, she couldn't harm a fly. We actually met by the Tree of Enlightenment. It was just happy circumstance that we were both there on the same night and we just began talking. Talking turned to coffee and before the end of the night, I was smitten." It seemed like a nice way to meet somebody and he smiled at the two of them.
"Did you two meet through your work?" He looked to Abby and gave her hand a small squeeze, just to let her know that even though they were talking to other people she was still on his mind. He'd become infatuated with Abigail James in such a short amount of time that it seemed almost surreal. "As a matter of fact, yes. She'd sprained her ankle at the beach. I found her sitting on one of the exam tables in the ER. Unprofessional as it might have been I couldn't help myself and asked her to have dinner with me." It had been very unprofessional of him, but he was happy with the results, having this beautiful young woman on his arm now.
"I get a lot of criminals in the ER on the graveyard shift. They've gotten in fights or drugs, whatever the reason, an officer brings them in and I'm the one who gets assigned to most of them." He was just trying to make small talk, wondering if Liam ever had to bring anyone into the hospital. There'd been a few times where they were so drunk that they threw punches at him. But if it had to be him or one of the female doctors he was always willing to take the criminals.
He could hear Abby talking about her garden. Even though he wasn't into gardening he had to admire the beauty of what she'd grown. "Her garden is exceptional. It should be featured in a magazine."

She heard Marius talking about how they met and Flynn couldn't help but think of how romantic that was! He'd helped her and asked her out! "How sweet!" She chirped up and wrapped both her hands around the champagne glass so that it would help her stand still a little better. Flynn was just so excited about the night and meeting new people, she couldn't help herself and wanted to just touch them and hug them! Flynn was such a touchy person!
I’ve been gardening since I was really young.”
"That sounds amazing! Your house must smell beautiful with all of those scents. I've always wanted to have night blooming jasmine. They're beautiful and the smell is just incredible! And lavender! I love the way lavender smells too!" She nodded enthusiastically, knowing she would just love Abby's garden. "And where do you buy your tea from? There's this wonderful shop called Sunshine's Too? Their tea is always so fresh!" Flynn was a big time tea drinker, finding she preferred that over coffee although she'd drink coffee if she really needed it. But coffee made her jittery and then she would bounce off the walls and act very unlike herself.
"Her garden is exceptional. It should be featured in a magazine." How sweet! Marius was complimenting Abby's garden and she nodded, it must have been exceptional! She seemed to almost forget she was holding onto the champagne and looked down at it like it was the most peculiar thing before taking a sip. It was just as delicious as the first sip had been!
She dropped one hand down and wrapped it around Liam again and gave him a big smile that reached her eyes before sipping at the bubbly drink again. Her alcohol tolerance was pretty low so it would probably be the only glass she'd have all night. "We should get together! And you can teach me all there is to know about gardening.. and.. well I'll be a great listener!" Flynn didn't know if there was anything she could teach Abby. How to fly? Nope. "Oh! I know how to knit! And sew! I don't think I have anything to teach you!" She giggled a little and brought the glass up to her mouth again but this time it was mostly just to hide her silly expression.

Abby still felt all warm and giddy from Marius squeezing her hand as he told Liam how they’d met. It made her smile more as Flynn admired her gardening ability, squeezing his hand lightly too. She liked knowing he was there and she was completely smitten with him, even though they had known each other such a short amount of time. This ran through the back of her mind as Flynn gushed about gardening. “That sounds amazing! Your house must smell beautiful with all those scents! I’ve always wanted to have night blooming jasmine. They’re beautiful and the smell is just incredible! And lavender! I love the way lavender smells too!” Abby nodded enthusiastically, giggling a little. “Jasmine is my next project, actually! I was going to add it to the garden soon so I’ll have some more calming flowers to work with,” she enthused. She didn’t elaborate on how she was going to work with jasmine, but she definitely had some ideas. It was one of the few plants that were used in several spells that she just didn’t have. “And where do you buy your tea from? There’s this wonderful shop called Sunshine’s Too! Their tea is always so fresh!” Abby gasped excited, perking a little. “Yes! My good friend Jo owns that shop! That’s where I get my tea leaves from!” she explained with big eyes. Flynn knew Sunshine’s Too! They would have to go there together someday.
“Her garden is exceptional. It should be featured in a magazine.” Abby’s smile spread all across her face at Marius’ compliment. She laughed softly and bashfully, leaning into his arm as she bowed her head. He was so sweet to say so, and she dropped his hand so she could wrap her arm around his waist and give him a one-armed hug. She smiled up at him wide and adoring. He was just so cute! When she looked back at Flynn and Liam, they were hand in hand once more, and Flynn was finishing her champagne, which to Abby looked like a fine idea. She finished hers, but stayed leaned against Marius, holding her empty glass as Flynn began talking again. “We should get together! And you can teach me all there is to know about gardening…and…well I’ll be a great listener!” Abby giggled, thinking Flynn’s enthusiasm was just adorable. She must have brightened Liam’s every day! “Oh! I know how to knit! And sew! I don’t think I have anything to teach you!” Now Abby laughed, finding Flynn’s bubbly offers of instruction and her excitement adorably funny. “No, you do! I don’t know how to knit! I’ve always wanted to learn, though. You should teach me! I’d love to hang out with you! Here, I’ll give you my number,” she offered.
She moved away from Marius, momentarily, smiling up at him as she did so and she moved to the bar. She flagged the bartender down and asked him for a napkin and a pen, scrawling down her phone number quickly before giving the pen back to the young man behind the bar with a grateful smile…but she left her empty glass behind. When she came back to the others, her smile was wide and she handed the napkin to Flynn. “Here you go! You can call me any time. I’m a teacher and it’s summer break, so I’m free all the time now. Whenever you want to hang out just let me know!” she chimed, sincere in her invitation. Her arm came back around Marius as she nestled into his side once more. She definitely felt like she belonged right there.
