Play by: Rose Byrne
Race/Species: Gargoyle
Species Info: Eponine has small lumps on her back where wings emerge in her stone form. She does a good job of hiding them, but she is not overly self conscious of them. Her knuckles are also slightly swollen due to her rite of passage training.
D.O.B.: April 14, 1919
Age they appear: 33
Actual age: 93

Features: With dark brown hair and large brown eyes, Eponine is both plain and striking in her looks. She stands at 5'6" but can often be found in high heels, making her appear taller. She is able to play down her features and blend if it serves her purposes better, but why would she want to? Her beauty is classic and she has a naturally sweet look about her. Looks can be deceiving, however.
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Ethnicity: French American
Marks/Tattoos/Visible Scars: Scars on her knuckles from having them hit with rulers during her training.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Eponine is somewhat conceited and pretty much a bitch. It’s hard to get into her good graces, and once you’re there, it’s no guarantee you will stay there. She is also very proud and finds it hard to admit when she is wrong.
Skills/Strengths: Eponine is a brilliant politician and able to record several facts in her memory effortlessly. Also, once you have gained her trust and good graces, she will defend you come hell or high water; this is not to be taken lightly. If you betray her trust or waste it, it’s unlikely you’ll gain it back again. She also has a strong sense of justice, despite her reputation as a bitch.

History: Eponine Daphne Gascoigne was born to Guy and Sarah Gascoigne on the fifth anniversary of the Titanic sinking. She was a quiet child, rarely fussy, and she didn’t cry often. Her parents were happy with one child and devoted as much time as they could spare to raising her to be the best she could be. At that time, women were not prominent in politics, but she showed a penchant for history early in life. She was cool and collected, but she was prone to explosive tantrums. For the most part, she let the other children come to her for friendship instead of pursuing them. With her naturally sweet looks and up-to-date fashion, the children did come to her, and she became the stereotypical popular girl. She didn’t ask for it, however, and didn’t mourn the loss of a friend.
When her cousin came into the picture when she was eleven, she honestly tried to like him. August was cute when he wasn’t crying, and her parents tried to get her to see him as a little brother; maybe a sibling would calm her explosive temper. She quickly came to see him as little more than a pest, though, and she resented being forced to look after him when her uncle and aunt had to work. As they grew older, the resentment was mutual, August not liking being babysat by his cousin anymore than Eponine liked doing it. There was one thing she learned from her time with August, however, and that was how badly she wanted to be a politician like her uncle wanted August to be. He came to encourage Eponine to do it as well, which she is grateful to him for to this day. Her parents knew it wasn’t often that women took on the role of the Politician in Gargoyle society, and they were proud their daughter wanted to defy that history.
Eponine chose to become a politician when she reached the age of eighteen, and her training was rigorous and difficult. It wasn’t often she needed to be whacked with a ruler across the knuckles, but every strike taught her a lesson: don’t be wrong the next time. She studied hard and absorbed her knowledge like a sponge, which made her rite of passage easier. When she completed her training, she went to work for the Council as a politician. As the years passed, however, it was getting harder and harder to be respected as a politician without some college education. In 1954, she made her way to Wellesley College in Massachusetts and was one of very few women accepted to Yale University’s School of Law. It was difficult to convince the colleges that she had a rare skin disease that did not allow her to walk out into the daylight and was therefore forced to complete her courses at night, but in the end her success as a student won them over. Eponine returned with enough education to demand the respect of any male politician.
Since then, she has made herself known as a lawyer and legal advisor for many politicians in Scriptor Bay, but also as a politician for the council. She commands much respect and power in Scriptor Bay, though more so in the Gargoyle community than the human community; she can’t draw too much attention to herself among humans due to her slow aging. Eponine’s parents, though quite old, are still alive and quite proud of their daughter’s success, but they wish she would work more on her personal relationships. She has virtually given up on the idea of falling in love and having a family and devotes most of her time to her work, though she does make a little time for spending with friends and family. Her little cousin still manages to irritate her, and they mutually try to avoid each other as much as possible.
