"Going out for the evening, Mr. Steinbeck?" Bernie, the bellhop at the Wallingford Condos, held open the heavy glass door for the occupant. It was well past sunset and the outside lights from the building lit up the sidewalk for those who were walking by. "Why, yes I am, Bernie. Don't expect me home tonight. I'm going to a lady friend's house." Mr. Steinbeck said with a sly grin on his face as he walked through the door. "Do have a pleasant evening, sir." Bernie offered as was part of his job. He enjoyed his job and liked working the night shift. It was much more peaceful at night, less getting up and down. Easier on his bad knees.
He leaned out of the building to look up at the moon and noticed that there was none in the sky tonight. He allowed the door to shut and the lobby grew quiet apart from the low humming coming from the employee laundromat. It was a nice sound that Bernie enjoyed.
An hour went by and Bernie opened the door for a few others who lived in the building and said short pleasantries, but the night was slow. The steady humming from the laundromat started to fade, followed by a noise that was first loud and then began to fade. It was the power shutting down and Bernie was left standing there in the dark. The dark would have been just fine except that the doors were powered, and when there was no power there was no way out. He would be stuck inside until the power came back on.
"Looks like it's going to be a long night." Bernie sighed and held his hands out so he could feel his way through the lobby. "Now where is that flashlight?"

Rules: The entire city is having a power outage. Posts can be made anywhere on the board, and "Black Out" should be somewhere in your title so it is easily distinguished.
Moon: There is no moon. Therians will be least like their animal counterpart.
The power WILL turn back on around 5 in the morning, in case you do wish to play until it gets turned back on. There are no restrictions as far as characters go and you may open new threads with this plot until further noted.
