The legend of Scriptor Bay is a unique one, full of wonder and incredulity. Not all who hear it believe in it, but there are a handful of people who believe the stories to be true, and I don’t mean the Guardians. When the tree opened up so many years ago to set things right, it disturbed the balance of nature. There were alien forces there that should not have existed in this dimension and our world needed to find a way to cope with the disruption in nature, and find a way to reestablish the balance once more.
But how could nature possibly do that, you might ask! There is a part of the story that is often overlooked. A part that is often kept quiet, for only a few people knew how nature had rejected the Guardians, even though they had come to mend the tree and the world around it. When the tree was closed, and the evil was locked away once more, the tree was scarred. The leaves did not grow back immediately and for many years it remained barren and seemingly dead. The natives often prayed to their Gods to heal the tree, for it to bring them joy and prosperity once more. It took time but the God’s heard their pleas and answered their prayers.
Many years after the tree closed it began to sprout vegetation once more. The process was a slow one, but that spring the tree was full of color and brimming with life. That was the only year the tree produced flowers.
The flowers were small and white with deep purple centers. The pollen that flowed from them spread throughout the land, leaving a purple layer of dust on everything within a mile of the beautiful white flowers. It’s said the humans changed after that spring. The natives were more in touch with the land and found that they could do things with herbs they had been unable to do before. The white people found they could do things that could only be explained as magic.
Of course this is all hear say. There’s no such thing as Guardians, and there’s absolutely no such thing as magic!
…right?
