Jack looked between the pair, waiting for their responses. Taylor was the first to speak. "Fine, take the lead." It was a huge weight off Jack's shoulders that she wasn't going to put up a fight, even though he could tell she wasn't happy with the situation. "But I'm not giving up on working on this case. We have valid information. We know the victim and our knowledge can be key to finding her." He nodded, agreeing with her. The information these two could provide on Maxine was invaluable. "I'm watching the interrogation behind the glass, though." He gave a lopsided smile, letting her know that would be okay by him...as long as she didn't go through the glass. His eyes turned to Dawson, waiting for his answer next.
"I'm staying out of this." Jack almost breathed a sigh of relief. There were two bombs diffused in one fell swoop. "I'll put as many hours as I can on working off-site, but I cannot be near that monster. I'd like updates though, constantly, if you wouldn't mind." Jack nodded, giving him a quiet, "Sure." Dawson's eyes came to his again, full of emotion that one didn't often find in a cop's eyes. "Please find her." Jack wanted to meet the woman that could bring two seasoned officers to their knees the way Maxine had done to Dawson and Taylor. He nodded again to Dawson. "I'll do my best," he promised. He couldn't promise that he would find the woman, but he could promise to try. Then again, what did Yoda say? "Do or do not, there is no try." Well, then Jack was going to do. For Maxine's sake and Taylor's and Dawson's.
At that moment, his phone beeped and he looked down. A text message from his contact at the precinct was flashed on the screen, and Jack read Witt's address. "I just got the address," he told the other two. "It's about an hour until sundown. Do you know if there are any photos of her in the house? I'd like to know what she looks like before I go over to Witt's so I know who I'm looking for." He needed more information before he went to the Gargoyle's house. What if she answered the door but August forced her to say she was someone else? Anything was possible, and Jack wanted to make sure that didn't happen.
