August was getting nowhere with the council. All the information he was being given was the same information he had for the most part. they suspected the ring was real, and they had an idea of who had it, but the Gargoyle who had gotten it first was found dead. Sebastian was right; everyone would want their hands on it. August knew he wasn't an exception. He would consider killing for it. It was in his nature it seemed.
"But how do we track it down?" He kept asking, but no one seemed to know, and if they did they were keeping their lips nicely sealed. August might be on the council but he wasn't a high ranking official. Hell, he wouldn't be considered one of those until Maxine's great granddaughter could pass as his girlfriend.
He'd only been probing for an hour and a half when his phone buzzed. He was a little surprised when he pulled it out and saw it was Maxine calling. It was late and he expected her to be asleep, but maybe she just missed him. The thought gave him mixed feelings. He didn't want her missing him, but a the same time he did. Hell, he would have given anything to be with her instead of where he was. At least if he was with her he'd probably be naked and would have some amount of control over the situation he was in.
"Witt." He answered in a low gruff voice as he normally did when answering his phone, but no one said anything. His brows furrowed. "Hello?" Finally he heard something. Someone talking... Maxine, maybe? Definitely a female voice, but there was another. A males.
The blood drained from his face. "Maxine!" He growled into the phone, turning further away from the men and women around him so as not to draw attention to himself and the anger and fear suddenly gripping him, but there was no answer on her side. That son of a bitch! August hung up, moving quickly as he left the building, not so much as uttering a goodbye. He made it to his car as quick as he could and got in. It would take, at best, fifteen minutes to get to her house! And that was if he hit every green light and no traffic.
Fuck the lights! He had a Gargoyle to destroy.

The little lamb was pleading but the wolf didn't listen.
Sebastian could care less if this girl pleaded for her life or if she said that it was strictly sex between her and August. It was apparent that she meant more than that. "If that's all you meant then why would he warn you about me?" He asked close to her ear and brushing his cheek up against the top of her head.
Women were so unoriginal when they were scared. They all cried and pleaded in the same fashion. He recalled when Alyson did the same thing. She'd said almost the same thing if memory served him right!
With her in the crook of his arm he would tense up and then relax a bit. He wanted to put just enough pressure to cut off her airway and knock her out but not enough to snap her neck. And when she looked up at him with those sad little eyes he just stared down with his cold grey ones, no emotion was returned to her.
"Think of this as an adventure. And if your wittle Auggie truly cares about you then he'll take care of what I want." His voice became harsh and the words were practically a growl rolling past his lips. Sebastian took a few steps back and trying to force her to walk with him. That's when he tried another tactic. One much more efficient in his opinion. Sure, there might be screaming but he wouldn't have to look at her wet face.
Sebastian loosened his grip around her neck and bent just enough to try and grab her around the midsection and hoist her over his shoulder. He was going to carry her out of that house one way or another.

"Think of this as an adventure. And if your wittle Auggie truly cares about you then he'll take care of what I want."
Maxi felt her heart stop in her chest. Part of her wanted August to do what this wanted so she could come home safe and sound and live life normally again. But another part of her wanted August to refuse, give this guy hell for involving her. She knew more than likely he would do a little of both. As the man dragged her back, though, forcing her with him, a little dizzy from losing air, she thought, Why can't I just help myself? She decided to do just that. If August was on his way, she just had to put up a fight.
The man stopped and loosened his grip on her neck just enough try and grab her around the midsection. She twisted, trying to squirm out of his arms. She was able to twist just enough to bring a hand to his face and push, trying to make him look away from her, get so frustrated he released her. But she couldn't seem to get completely out of his grasp. She fought all she could, pushing and scratching frantically, but somehow nothing affected him. They were already halfway to the door and she couldn't seem to budge him back.
Before she knew it, she was in the air, slung over his shoulder. "No!" she cried out in protest, furious that she was so easy to carry. Her fists pounded at his back, her elbows jamming into the hard muscle, but still he kept walking. She kicked, making her hard to hold onto, and she brought her knee into his chest hard before he could get a hold of her legs and stop her struggling. More tears came to her eyes as she realized how helpless she was. They were out the door, and she watched her house grow smaller, the door wide open. Her red ponytail slung in her face, making it hard to see, but she felt so hopeless. "Let me go!" she cried out in frustration, hoping to wake one of the neighbors. Someone who would call the cops. Becky or Brett would be here in a heartbeat if they knew she was in trouble.

The girl kept thrashing, kicking and hitting him. It didn't hurt but it was as annoying as it could get. He reached for her legs trying to put his arm against the back of her knees but she got some pretty good kicks in and he grunted, feeling her knee pushing into his sternum and actually feeling a tinge of pain. When he finally managed to get her legs under control he knew there was no way to stop her hands or even shut her mouth.
She could scream and cry all she wanted, but when they got back to the condo that's when the real trouble was going to begin. "What's your name?" He asked as he climbed up onto a fence and hopped onto one of the rooftops of the little lamb's neighbor's house. Travelling by rooftop had always been preferred by Sebastian. You didn't have to worry about heavy foot traffic or cars and nobody could try and stop you for a bit of idle chat if they couldn't see you.
"You can kick and scream and beg all you want. It's not going to change a thing so maybe you should save your breath?"
As if it were nothing, Sebastian picked up the pace and took a giant leap, landing on the next house over. He gave her ass a little playful slap to try and get her to calm down. Then again, she probably didn't want to be touched by him.

"What's your name?"
Maxi was too confused by what the man was doing climbing the fence to really think about denying him an answer. "Maxi," she replied, before gasping as he jumped. Her hands clenched the shirt over his back instinctively, breathless as the man leaped onto the roof effortlessly. She hadn't expected the height, but when she looked up, all she could see of her house was the roof. If only she could get away. Her hands started pounding on his back again, her elbows digging into his shoulder blades repeatedly as she grunted and gasped with the effort, her heart pounding. "Put me down!" she screamed, praying someone would still be awake and hear her.
"You can kick and scream and beg all you want. It's not going to change a thing so maybe you should save your breath?"
He was right and she knew it. The tears were in her eyes again, and they dripped upwards into her disheveled ponytail. She hated feeling so helpless. They momentarily stopped as she felt him picked up the pace and she gasped, gripping his back again as they went flying an impossible distance onto the roof of the next house. She had no idea how he was doing that. Gargoyles were amazing creatures. But she hated how her heart ended up in her teeth every time they jumped into the air. It felt like she was about to plummet to her death.
The hand on her butt flared her anger. "Don't touch me!" she screamed, bringing an elbow right into his spine. Her whole arm below her elbow went numb. She whimpered as the pain flared not long after finding that his bones not only protruded but were as hard as stone. Tears rushed into her hair as her other hand gripped her elbow hard, trying to relieve the pain somewhat. The blood was rushing to her head in this position and she felt it pumping hard in her ears. She was getting dizzy, so much so that she was afraid she would pass out. It was hard to keep her strength like this, and she felt herself slowly getting limp.

"Maxi,"
He would have pegged her for a Ginger or Lisa, not a Maxi. But then again most people didn't match their names in his opinion. He knew plenty of people who would never guess that his name was Sebastian and naturally, nobody ever guessed his sister's. Oh, Prestine.. she was going to have a blast with this one. All he had to do was give his sister a reason to enjoy this little lamb and she'd put her to good use. Better use than Sebastian would that was for sure. If Maxi stayed in his hands for too long she might not live through the night.
"Don't touch me!"
There was the screaming again.
He rolled his eyes as he continued to hop from roof to roof until he ran out of houses and had to jump down to the ground once more. Sebastian loved jumping off a roof and feeling that tingly feeling as if his stomach was going to find its way into his throat. When his feet hit the ground he turned right and kept going. At that hour most people were home and in bed. But those who were out.. he'd deal with them when the time came.
Sebastian crossed a street and headed down another path. He was conscious of how she hung over his shoulder. Whether she was stiff or relaxing a bit. He hoped she'd pass out, make the trip easier without her screaming all the way there. Then again, there were tactics that he knew that could stop the screaming if she kept at it. They were even a little enjoyable in his opinion.
"So, Maxi. Looks like we're going to be friends now, how about you tell me a little bit about yourself?" He wanted one of two things to happen. Either she passed out and just shut the hell up, or he got her to talk to him. Hold an idle conversation that would just get the damn screaming to stop.
"Oh- and careful where you hit. I'm like a dinosaur." He teased playfully, regarding his back. He always thought it gave him a reptilian look when his shirt was off. Not that he cared. He enjoyed the way it looked. It was frightening and pleasantly sexy.

Maxi was starting to see stars hanging upside down like she was. She knew she was going to pass out, but maybe that would be for the best. Then maybe her heart would stop hammering. No, she had to stay vigilant; she had to know where they were going, just in case she found some way to escape. She tried lifting her head to make some of the blood drain out, but it just made her dizzier, and her head slumped back down. Her throat hurt from screaming and crying, and she just felt too out of it to scream. When he jumped off the roof, her eyes snapped open and her hands gripped his back again in terror. The fall was longer, and she watched as they fell, giving a strangled sort of cry. Their impact on the ground made her slump onto his shoulder further, pushing his shoulder into her stomach; she gave a small pained whimper.
"So, Maxi. Looks like we're going to be friends now. How about you tell me a little about yourself? Oh--and careful where you hit. I'm like a dinosaur."
She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Friends? Was he serious? How insane was this guy? "I hardly qualify kidnapping me to make my lover talk as a gesture of friendship," she said in a low, soft voice. Normally Maxi didn't sound angry and it sounded weird coming out of her mouth, but this guy was getting under her skin. Infuriating was the only way to describe him. But her anger was also laced with fear. Why would August warn her about this guy if he was just a pain in the ass? He was scared for some reason, which only meant this man was capable of hurting her.
Why couldn't he just get the ring himself? What made it hard for him to do that? Why did August have to get the ring for her? These thoughts were spinning in her blood-filled head, and the stars were clouding her eyes. "Who are you?" she finally asked, trying her best to keep from passing out. She needed to take mental notes of where they were going. It was so hard to stay conscious, though, and it took all she had to be able to hear his name.

"I hardly qualify kidnapping me to make my lover talk as a gesture of friendship,"
Maxi made it perfectly clear that the little relationship between her and August was nothing more than sex by calling him her lover. So his assumptions of August not taking on an actual girlfriend were true. He might not have known him that well but he knew him well enough. "You can meet your friends in the strangest ways. Might as well make the best of your situation," he instructed her and knew it to be true. Sebastian had been in a few sticky situations in the past and he had to just make the best of it or he might not have survived them.
"Who are you?"
The same old question on a different night. Then again, the most repetitive question he'd heard lately was "What are you?" He chuckled at her question and continued his journey, sticking now to side streets and the dark alleys. The condo wouldn't be too far now.
"I thought you already knew. I'm Sebastian. The one your 'lover' didn't give you a good enough warning about." He told her in his smooth yet very sarcastic voice. He ended up bouncing her on his shoulder to try and re position the way she was laying across it. Although he was strong it still got tiring holding someone over one shoulder. Especially someone who didn't want to be there and who had thrashed about just moments before.
"What's the matter, you've never been taken from your house in the middle of the night before?" Again with the sarcasm. A smirk played over his lips and he shook his head a bit. This was going to be quite entertaining.
"So what makes you so special, lamb? What is so unique about you that it caught dear August's attention? You look pretty plain to me."

"I thought you already knew. I'm Sebastian. The one your 'lover' didn't give you a good enough warning about."
"No, he warned me well enough. I just didn't listen," she nearly whispered, her eyes filling with tears again. How stupid was she? August would be infuriated when he found out she had gotten kidnapped because she actually opened the door when he told her not to. At least now she knew this man's name. Sebastian. She never liked that name, but now she hated it. It was a shame she would never be able to watch the Little Mermaid again, though, without hating that little crab.
He adjusted her on his shoulder, and she gave a whimper, his hard shoulder digging into her stomach. It made her head hurt more to be adjusted, and she felt like her head might actually explode with all the blood rushed to it. "What's the matter, you've never been taken from your house in the middle of the night before?" Here Maxi was terrified and angry and frustrated, and Sebastian was making jokes. She glared at his back, then looked away to the side. This was a part of town she wasn't quite as familiar with. If she ran, she would just have to run, regardless of where she was going. Somebody would help her in this city. But she knew her plotting would take her anywhere now. It would have to wait until later. She couldn't get away now if she wanted to.
"So what makes you so special, lamb? What is so unique about you that caught dear August's attention? You look pretty plain to me."
That was a question she couldn't answer. Maxi thought the same way Sebastian did about herself, honestly. "I am plain," she said out loud in her low, soft voice. "I don't know what makes me special. That would be a question for August." Maxi was shocked every day when she thought of how taken August seemed to be with her. "Yours." That one word was enough to make her cry now, and she covered her face with her hands. She actually meant something to him, finally, and now she would be the reason behind his stress, anger, and maybe even sadness. Why did he care about her so much? She was just a quiet, sweet English teacher who really didn't do anything exciting in her life. Perhaps she was just that good in bed, but she didn't think that was the only reason for August's feelings. It couldn't be.
She closed her eyes, the blood rushing to her head making it hurt to keep them open. Her vision was being completely clouded by stars. Her whole body went limp as she lost consciousness, visions of her sister floating in front of her face, worried and asking if she was okay, demanding she say something. But she couldn't, not with her brain and movements so sluggish from being upside down too long. When she woke up, she would have no idea where she was.

It took longer than he expected it to but finally the little lamb passed out and he felt her turn into dead weight on his shoulder. It threw him off balance for just a few steps but he was able to redistribute his weight so that it didn't bother him too much for the rest of the journey home.
It took a good half hour to get from Maxi's house back home. He didn't want to chance climbing up to the rooftops of the higher buildings with her slung over his shoulder the way she was. If she slipped then she would fall to her death and then he'd have no bargaining chip. That wasn't how this was going to go.
Another fifteen minutes and Sebastian not only had arrived home but he managed to get Maxi situated in her brand new temporary home. Well, it wasn't brand new and it wasn't much of a home either. In fact it was a large animal cage that he'd set on the table in the living room. In said cage was a blanket covering the hard metal bottom and even a small pillow. Because Sebastian was all about keeping his hostages comfortable! He'd even left a water bottle inside with ice water and a protein bar in case she got hungry. He wasn't about to offer her the food that he fed to Alyson. She wasn't good enough for that food. Not to him anyway.
He was ready for when she would wake in her nice little cage. Lounging comfortable on the couch sitting directly in front of the cage and watching, Sebastian held a little camcorder in his hand and the little red light was on indicating that he was recording. He had it pointed at Maxi and slowly he leaned forward to rest his elbows against his knees, finding a more comfortable position so that his arm wouldn't grow tired holding the camcorder.
"Wakey wakey..." He said in a playful singsong voice and waited. He could sit there all night and tape her. He was planning on making a little movie to give August as a present.

Maxi was dead to the world. Nothing of their movements registered in her dreamlike state. Her sister's face became her mother's, then her father's, then August's. August...he was holding her face and asking her to speak, just one word, that's all he wanted. But she couldn't. She couldn't manage even one word, and it brought tears to her eyes. He had to know she could speak, she could understand him. But nothing was coming, not even the smallest sound. The pounding in her head was dissipating though, and all the heat in her face was slowly becoming cool as the blood rushed back into the rest of her body. August's hand was in her hair when she heard a chilling voice that didn't belong to him. "Wakey wakey..."
She was still dizzy when she opened her eyes, but the world wasn't spinning nearly as much. There was Sebastian, sitting on the couch holding...was that a camcorder? Why was he holding that? And what were the black lines in her vision. It took a long moment to realize they were bars. Her hand reached out and at the cool bite of steel, she felt a rush of panic take over. She looked down to her feet, her blue eyes wide with fear. It was a cage. This crazy bastard had her in a cage. It was only just large enough for her to lay flat and be able to straighten her legs, and tall enough that she could sit up, but she was lucky she was so small. Her hands were gripping the bars above her, and beside her, terrified and unsure what to do.
Close beside her head was a water bottle and a protein bar. Was that it? Surely he planned to feed her more. The thought of starving scared her even more, and she pulled herself up to a sitting position. The door to the cage was by her feet, and she squirmed to get her hands on the catch. It wouldn't budge. The catch was on the outside of the cage and the bars were too small for her to even get a hand through to jiggle the handle. It also needed to he pulled up from the outside to release the door. In a blind panic, she brought her feet back to it and pounded her feet against the door. It was no use.
Her large, teary blue eyes turned back to Sebastian with the video camera. "Please," she sobbed. "Please, just don't make me stay in here. I'll stay put I promise, just don't leave me in this cage." As she cried, she brought her hands to her face and she curled into a ball, her knees curling into her chest as her back rested against the thin metal bars of her prison. "Just let me go home," she sobbed into her hands, knowing it wouldn't change anything. All of her pleas fell on deaf ears, and she knew she would be trapped here for a long time.

Again, the girl gave the generic pleads for her freedom that every hostage before her ever did. Please let me go! I won't tell anyone I promise! I want to go home! I didn't do anything! I'll be good I swear! They all begged for the same things and for once, Sebastian wanted to hear them beg for something different. Like beg him to take them to bed or beg for a cheeseburger. Something different to spice things up. But it was always the same old thing.
Leaning forward with the recorder on he didn't look directly at the little lamb that was trapped in the cage. He watched her through the small screen that was hinged to the camera and tilted his head to the side as if he were examining it more closely. "Say hello to your boyfriend, little lamb." He told her in a taunting little voice and hit a little knob to zoom in closer to her face. Sebastian wanted to make sure August saw just how scared his little pet was, showing just how much control that Sebastian had over the situation.
When he was satisfied with what he had on the camera so far he turned it on himself and flashed his best, smug grin into the shot. "Maybe next time you blow me off you'll think of someone other than yourself." His words turned into a growl and his expression darkened before he turned it off and set the camera down on the couch beside him.
Turning his attention back to the little caged lamb he offered her the same dashing smile he'd given to the camera just a moment ago. He could be nice sometimes, when he wanted to or needed to. "You really should pick your friends a little more careful. Getting yourself mixed with gargoyles is dangerous business little lamb."

Maxi was crying into her hands, curled into a ball, when she heard Sebastian shifting on the couch. She knew she had to compose herself, think clearly of a way to get out, but she couldn't calm down. Her heart was racing, and she was hyperventilating. A full blown panic attack seized her and as her palms pressed to her eyes, she felt as if the cage were closing in on her. She wasn't claustrophobic, but she was starting to feel that way. "Say hello to your boyfriend, little lamb." Maxi looked at him, pulling her hands from her tear-stained face, and she could hear the zoom on the camera. Her face twisted into an agonized mask as she hugged her knees and rested her head against them, watching the camera. She didn't want August to see her this way, and she turned her face from the camera.
"Maybe next time you blow me off you'll think of someone other than yourself." Maxi peeked over at Sebastian again, feeling her heart burn with fury. This wasn't August's fault. This was all Sebastian's doing! How dare he blame August for what happened to her?! She didn't want August to feel guilty for this. Sebastian had caught her, but only because of her own stupid mistake. And it was Sebastian's choice to take her; she didn't blame August for any of this. There were other ways to get August to do what he wanted which didn't involve her. Her hands clenched on her legs and she looked away from Sebastian again as he turned off the camcorder.
"You really should pick your friends a little more careful. Getting yourself mixed with gargoyles is dangerous business little lamb." For a moment she didn't look at him, but when she did, reluctantly, she saw that smug smile on his face. What she wouldn't do to throw acid on it. Maxi didn't often become angry, but that didn't mean she was incapable. "I don't see anything inherently bad in gargoyles," she said in a low, soft voice. "But it's the ones like you that give them a bad reputation." Her eyes were full of her fury as she glared at him. With a sigh, she put her forehead against her knees, closing her eyes and finally feeling herself calming down a little. She was light-headed from hyperventilating, still, and while her heart was still racing, she was able to breathe. "Why would you think August could get you that ring?" she finally asked, still not looking at him. The question indicated she wasn't as ignorant as perhaps he thought, and also gave her a chance to get more information, information she had known she couldn't get from August. Before now, she hadn't been involved enough to know. Now, she was far too involved to know as little as she did about this situation. Her eyes peeked up at him as she waited for his answer.

"But it's the ones like you that give them a bad reputation."
With a shake of his head and a bit of tsking, Sebastian found what she said to be amusing. August was no choir boy but then again he didn't act the way Sebastian did either. "How many do you know, lamb? August? That's one gargoyle out of however many of us there are. Sorry to disappoint but we're cruel by nature." Although that wasn't the case for all of their kind, he'd met his fair share of monsters out there just like him.
"It comes with the territory," he told her and raised his brows at her almost in a flirting sort of way. He didn't care if he told this girl the truth or lied to her. In fact, he wasn't sure which he wanted to do yet. That was part of the fun in the game of capture the girl. You could tell them anything, make things up and have them think you were someone entirely different. Although this time maybe he should just stick to the truth. Because if he gave this girl back to August then she'd find out the truth anyway.
"Why would you think August could get you that ring?"
"So he told you," he wasn't surprised that August would spill about what Sebastian was after. He was never the trustworthy type in his eyes. "Because he has pull with the council. If anyone knows where that ring is it's the council. Plus August is just so easy to manipulate," at least that's how Sebastian saw it. August had always had a bit of a temper around him even if the other gargoyle tried to hide it by faking civility.
"You better hope that he gets it because it's your life that's on the line little lamb," He smiled at her again and ran his knuckles along the cage almost like he was trying to taunt her before getting up to his feet and walking away from her.
"Do you drink? If not then now would be the time to start." Alcohol always loosened the women up, and who knew? Maybe he could loosen her up enough to find out just why August took her in as a 'lover'. It was worth a try and he grabbed a bottle of brandy out of the liquor cabinet along with a cup with a straw sticking out of it. Setting the cup down he uncapped the brandy and poured a little into the cup and slid it across the table until it hit the cage. He knew that giving her a regular cup would be hard but with the straw then if she wanted any of the liquor she would be able to get it with ease.
"So, you were about to tell me what makes you so special to our little August."

"So he told you." No, I overheard, Maxi tried to say, but Sebastian kept plowing on, so she let it go. "Because he has pull with the council. If anyone knows where that ring is, it's the council. Plus August is just so easy to manipulate."
That last statement confused and angered Maxi. August wasn't easy to manipulate, not in her eyes. He was smart and crafty and he always maintained control on a situation. How was that easy to manipulate? Then again, he had lost control of this situation. But that was her fault; she blamed no one but herself. How could August care about such a stupid woman as herself? Her eyes fell to her knees as she felt tears bubbling in her again. Even if she made it back to him, he would be so angry with her.
"You better hope that he gets it because it's your life that's on the line, little lamb."
She turned her eyes to Sebastian, wary of what he said. Could this really be it for her? Her eyes were full of hesitation and fear, not sure if he really meant what he said but afraid that he did. She wasn't ready to see her family again. What about Ezra? Lionel? Rebecca and Brett? August? Her death would devastate everyone who loved her or cared about her. Especially August...she couldn't let Sebastian kill her. August would blame himself. Maxi didn't want that to happen. She had to get through this. But how? His knuckles brushed the cage and she glared at him, hating the smile on his face. How could he threaten her life and smile?
"Do you drink? If not then now would be a time to start."
Her look shot daggers at Sebastian. Why the hell was he offering her alcohol? Why did he think she wanted it?! Her teeth gritted as she watched him pour, wondering if she should drink it or not. What if he poisoned it? She couldn't trust it. Whether there was poison in that bottle, or ruffies, she wasn't drinking that until she saw him do it. Even then, there was a slim chance of her drinking that liquid. It wouldn't do her a damn bit of good, just make her loopy. "I drink, but I wouldn't drink anything you offered," she shot at him, her voice low and soft. It was the tone she took when she was angry. He slid the cup to her, the straw sticking out, and she ignored it, turning her head away from it. She was disgusted with everything about him and everything he offered.
"So, you were about to tell me what makes you so special to our little August."
The question softened her a little, making her sad to think about him. Her arms were still hugging her knees into her chest, and she let her hands fall down to her ankles, her jeans cool against her legs. "I told you on the way here, I don't know. I'm just a teacher...I have friends, but I don't go out a lot. I'm plain. I don't know what makes me special," she replied softly. She didn't know why August felt so deeply for her. "Yours." How could he be hers? She was so plain, so ordinary, and he was so extraordinary. What made him come back to her? She didn't know, she just knew she didn't want him to be out of her life. Maxi cared for him so much. Even now, she was more worried about how he would handle her being kidnapped than the fact that she was actually kidnapped. Her heart was breaking to think of it.
Her eyes turned back to Sebastian, cold once more. She didn't need him to make fun of her for how much she cared for August. That wasn't a topic that she felt was up for discussion with him. "What makes that ring so special?" she asked, veering the subject matter away from her and August's relationship. She wanted more information on the ring that had gotten her kidnapped in the first place.
