Eponine gave a chuckle when Carter talked about his luck with the women judges. It was true. Those women were as hard as stone, which made her want to be one. Unfortunately, due to the fact that she really did turn to stone, she couldn't run for the office. It was one of her life's greatest disappointments. But he was right about more than one thing. "It makes my victories that much more delicious." Eponine found her victories in front of a female judge were some of the best she had ever experienced. For this reason alone she believed judges should only be women. They were more scrutinizing and punishments tended to be harsher. That was the way it was supposed to be; if you did a crime, you did the time, and enough to make sure you wouldn't do it again.
"I can see why your legs are such a powerful asset, though." The comment made her smirk and she felt quite haughty in that moment. Eponine knew she was beautiful, and though she didn't need a man to tell her that, whenever one did, it only affirmed what she already knew. She watched his eyes linger on her legs and she knew her gaze was a sultry one. This one had no idea what he was getting himself into. The thought made her grin wider. Her legs were much more powerful than he was probably expecting.
"So how late do you expect to be this evening? I'm not keeping you, am I? I would hate to be the reason you lost a good night's sleep. Might put you off your game a bit. Especially after the drinks." Eponine's smile softened a little. "I'm never off my game. And I don't sleep anyways, so there's no need to worry there." Her wicked grin was back again as she gazed across the desk at him. "But I wouldn't mind losing sleep if it was your fault," she said in a quiet, seductive tone. Perhaps that did cross the line a little. It might be best if she just walked away from the situation, before anyone, including his wife, got hurt.
With a sigh she got to her feet, and meandered around to the side of his desk, leaning a thigh against it, the edge falling just below her hip. "That was inappropriate," she said, though she wasn't apologizing for it. "Am I overstepping my bounds here?" It was a fair question. She wanted to give him a chance to decide if he wanted to continue with this or not. Her face was calm, waiting for his answer. As she waited, she watched him with her heavy brown eyes, wondering if he would give in or not.

"I'm never off my game. And I don't sleep anyways, so there's no need to worry there. But I wouldn't mind losing sleep if it was your fault,"
Her voice was quiet and seductive and Carter, being a man who had maybe a drink too many, was falling under her spell. His lips parted slightly, but it was the only physical symptom of her seduction over him. She was quite blatantly inviting him to take advantage of her, or was it the other way around? Was she asking permission to take advantage of him?
He hated how tempting she was, how he had this decision to make. How sexy would it be to take this incredibly beautiful woman on his desk? But Cassidy... He gulped, watching as she got to her feet and came to the side of his desk. He turned to her, still sitting in his overstuffed, leather swivel desk chair. He was reclined, and looked relaxed though his heart was hammering. It had been too long since he had seduced anyone, and even longer since someone tried seducing him. He'd been hit on, but this was different. There was no one there to hear or see them, aside maybe for the photograph of his wife and daughter. No one would know of his affair, or attempt at one.
"That was inappropriate," The way she said it was unapologetic, and Carter was under the impression she wasn't feeling it was inappropriate at all. "Am I overstepping my bounds here?" She most definitely was, but he had invited her to, which made it far more appropriate. His gaze moved from her milky, exposed thigh on his desk to the heavy lidded, doe eyes. They were rich and warm, and he hoped she wouldn't notice the mild lump forming in his groin.
"Yes, but not unprovoked." He admitted, with a gulp. "I certainly would be glad to be the reason you lost sleep, but unfortunately I have far more to lose by participating in a rendezvous with you, despite my overwhelming desire to, than I have to gain." He had to fight the urge to reach out at touch that gorgeous leg, which he was watching once more, before looking back into her eyes, his own burning with desire to do all the things in which he would never be allowed to with her. Marriage sometimes seemed like a prison, even if he adored the woman he was shackled to.

Eponine could see Carter's struggle, yet still she waited patiently. His eyes fell to her legs once more, and the returned to her eyes. Just from his look she could tell he wanted her. "Yes, but not unprovoked. I certainly would be glad to be the reason you lost sleep, but unfortunately I have far more to lose by participating in a rendezvous with you, despite my overwhelming desire to, than I have to gain." That was the truth. For Eponine this was a means to an end. Carter got her hot and bothered and he was a way to release it. A one time deal, one she might think of occasionally with fondness, but who knew? Maybe he wasn't up to her level. For Carter, though, it was a much bigger deal. He stood to lose everything from one rendezvous with her. That would be unjust, to lure him into that situation. Carter was the confessing kind of man, she could tell already, and his confession could cause both of them much more trouble than a sexy romp on his desk was worth.
She felt compassionate. It left her feeling sexually frustrated, but maybe she would hunt down Sebastian before the night was through. He was always good for relieving sexual frustration, even with all of his crazy. Carter's guilt would only put a damper on the whole thing anyway. With a small smile, she stood straight once more, making her way towards him. "That you do," she agreed softly. When she reached him, she leaned down and kissed his cheek softly, her hands resting on the arms of his chair. It was a light kiss, teasing in its own right, but it was bordering between sweet and seductive.
When she pulled back, she smiled at him one more time up close and then stood straight again. "You're a good man, Carter. I hope one day I'm as smitten with a man as you are with your wife," she said with a kind smile. She walked towards the door of his office, looking back to him. "If anything, I hope I've made you more eager to go home to your wife and maybe start on making baby number two." She gave a soft laugh. "And don't worry about that sexual harassment lawsuit. I've got too many cases right now to start up another one." Her smile was devilish, but not in the same way it had been before. Guilt was not a turn on for her. If Carter ever left his wife and Eponine was single, she would give it a go, but right now, there was too much of a black cloud hanging over their possibilities. "I'm here most evenings, if you ever want to stick around and get some legal advice...or make inappropriate conversation again," she teased, standing in his doorway now.

He was both relieved and disappointed that she agreed with him. He knew putting his marriage on the line for some great sex wasn't worth it. He could have great sex at home, but that wasn't the point. It was the new and unfamiliar he wanted, but he loved Cassidy dearly. She was important to him and to risk it all on one night of excitement just didn't seem worth it. If anything it made him feel slightly bitter. He wanted more freedom while still having the luxury of having his beautiful wife, but as the saying went he could not have his cake and eat it, too. Carter always hated that saying. Why couldn't one have cake and eat it?
It was difficult to remain still as she leaned down, those soft lips pressing to his cheek. How he would have loved to feel them on his own, but he remained still, taking in the feelings she instilled in him, her exotic, unfamiliar perfume arousing him further. It took a great deal of control not to grab her and push her onto her desk. He'd have liked to see more of her legs...
"You're a good man, Carter. I hope one day I'm as smitten with a man as you are with your wife," He didn't feel like a good man. He felt like a dog. He felt both guilty and bitter for his impure thoughts of a woman other than Cassidy. "If anything, I hope I've made you more eager to go home to your wife and maybe start on making baby number two." She had certainly made him eager. So much so that he might just leave the work for the morning and go home so he could find his release, and then work on the laptop in the living room until the wee hours of the morning. As for baby number two... if he had anything to say about that, they would never come into existence. One was more than enough for him.
He chuckled when she mentioned the suit again. "I wasn't worried about that." He assured her with his devilish smirk.
"I'm here most evenings, if you ever want to stick around and get some legal advice...or make inappropriate conversation again," He felt his heart leap a little. Or was it his groin. Either way he was glad to know that she might be around if or whatever reason he found he could sleep with someone else. Perhaps Cassidy would be open to an open relationship. Even as he thought it he knew it wasn't so. Cassidy didn't seem the sharing type and she would expect the same in return which was certainly an issue for Carter.
"I will certainly keep that in mind, Eponine. Thank you for keeping me company and distracting me. It was a very, very welcome distraction, and I hope to count on you for more in the future." He grinned and gave a slight nod and sigh. "Enjoy the rest of your evening." He watched her go with a heavy heart. He wanted to do terrible things to that woman bent over his desk, but he was glad he had denied himself the temptation. It would have been incredible, but knowing his relationship with Cassidy was unharmed was a relieving feeling. He sighed once more and looked at his computer screen. He was nearly finished anyway. He'd just stay until he was through.
