Carter could feel his blood begin to boil as she went on and on. The look on his face clearly portrayed his feelings on the matter at hand. Both of them. He couldn't believe the words spewing from her mouth! This wasn't the Cassidy he'd met. Wealth had changed her a bit, as it did most people, whether she was willing to admit it or not.
"Better be careful, Cassidy. Don't want to start sounding like you belong to the upper class." He practically back, his eyes narrowed. "Don't make it sound like a crime to discuss my personal matters with someone other than you. I deem Cheyenne as a friend, not hired help as you so kindly put it." He had nothing to say about the way she was positioned on his desk. He should have told her to knock that off, but he simply didn't care if she mock flirted with him. Nothing would ever come of it, so it was harmless. "And despite what you think of her, she is well put together and intelligent. She keeps this place running just fine, so I would appreciate if you ceased the bad mouthing. She has done nothing to warrant that from you." Even if her dresses were short and low cut, she always looked professional and well put together. She took pride in her looks, something Carter appreciated very much considering he did the same.
"Now on to my second point. I never said I was going to New York. I never planned on doing anything behind your back. I received the email all of twenty minutes ago. The idea of going east was only proposed five minutes ago. I haven't had time to process let alone discuss it with you. Hell, I didn't even have a chance to discuss it with the woman who proposed the idea in the first place since you barged in here like an angry hurricane." He stood up and moved around the desk again, putting his hands out to attempt to take Lilly. "I have never been unfaithful. I have never given you true reason to think that I have or will be. But if you continue to treat me as though I am a scoundrel, at least allow me the opportunity to make your claims true."

Cassidy wanted to grab the stapler that was on Carter's desk and hit him over the head with it. Or at least throw it into the wall and hopefully break it. "It's not a CRIME to discuss personal matters with other people. But it's not professional to discuss them with your skanky assistant!" She blew up, her arms waving around in front of her face angrily. She hated Cheyenne and although she'd never outright said it to the little tramp's face yet she had half a mind to storm out of there and go tell her right away. But she didn't. She had to deal with her husband. "I don't like her. She's a deviant little... skank!" Cass couldn't think of anything better to say. That's how she felt about the girl.
She knew she'd been around Carter too much. She was calling people 'hired help' and treating them like dirt more and more often. Not that she wanted to. But sometimes people were just.. well, they were ridiculous! She'd always tried to be kind and give someone the benefit of the doubt when possible. But sometimes it was just too difficult!
When Carter began talking about being unfaithful she'd thought back to the times that Hillary had been around. She'd never thought anything had gone on between the two of them except for when they had tried to hurt Hillary and unfortunately they were successful. She had to remind herself that Carter had been a playboy before he'd met her. She'd had a hard time trusting him in the beginning because she was afraid he'd be unfaithful. But once Lily came around and they had moved she never doubted him.
When Carter went to pick up Lily Cassidy tried to intervene and reached out in an attempt to take Lily from her father. "Give me the baby. I changed my mind. I'll just take her to the meeting with me where I know she'll be safe. Last thing I need is you handing her off to that witch. I don't need Lily to catch something." Cass made a face, feeling her mood growing worse and worse as the conversation went on.

The more Cassidy spoke ill of his assistant, the more he felt the urge to slap some sense into his wife. She was acting like a jealous child, and not a trusting wife. Carter had done plenty in his time to make previous partners fear his unfaithfulness, but he was no longer a philanderer, and hasn't been for quite some time. Cheyenne had kept his firm afloat, despite her unconventional ways. He found Cassidy's words to be hurtful and inappropriate. Cheyenne may have been flirty, but it was all harmless and neither had taken the step, or ever would, to make their relationship more than what it was; a boss and assistant who were just slightly more than acquaintances, but not quite friends.
"This is my place of business." Carter started calmly, though his nostrils were flared with his irritation. "This sort of outburst may be appropriate in your clothing shop, but I assure you my firm is not the place to be yelling about hired help and skanky women. Cheyenne is my assistant, and I would never allow her to waltz in here and call you those names. She would be fired in a matter of seconds. You, on the other hand, are my wife, and play a larger role in my life and I cannot, and do not want to write you off. However, if you continue to put down my employees I'm going to be forced to ask you not only to leave, but to refrain from coming back, something I certainly don't want to do, but will if necessary." He knew it would set her off, but she had to know this was not okay to do. He would never do this to her!
"As for Lilly, it's absurd for you to take her to the meeting. It will hurt your chances." Again his tone was firm, calm, but irritated. He was tired of these outbursts, tired of having to deal with an adult acting like a child. He himself was prone to some immature behaviors, but Cassidy put the icing on the cake! "But I can see you;re in a mood, and when you get like this there's no way to get you to change your mind without you being spiteful, something our daughter doesn't need to witness any more than she already has, so this is what I'm going to do." Carter folded his arms and leaned back so he was resting against his desk, his legs crossed at the ankle. "I'm going to stand here and let you make your decision, and not bother to fight you. If you want Lilly, take her. If you want to leave her, leave her, but do not, I repeat do NOT blame me this evening if your choice blows up in your face. I will not take responsibility for your hasty, childish behaviors."

Cassidy took it all in. She listened to everything that Carter had to say and by the time he was done talking about how maybe her place of business might have been tacky enough to have angry spouses yelling all over the place, she simply nodded her head and gave a little meek grin. He wanted to act like his long legged trollop was okay to have in the office? Two could play that game, alright. She needed to hire another sales clerk anyway with how busy she was starting to become. "Fine. You're right. You take care of her and when I'm done with my meeting I'll come back and I'll get her." How dare he speak to her the way he was! Sure, things had changed since they were in New York, two perfectly good strangers sharing a cab. But it didn't mean that he could treat her like just anybody. He'd be a fool though to think that Cass would just roll over and take it just like that, but she hoped he'd let it go for now. "As for Lilly.." Cassidy reached for her purse. She didn't bother to bring the baby's bag since she knew her meeting wouldn't be too long. Once it was done she had every intention on coming back and picking the baby up. "I have a couple of diapers just in case she has to go. But I did just change her before I came here and she's dry for the moment. Here's a bottle. Don't overheat it. And here's a few of her toys to keep her entertained." Cass pulled out diapers, a small travel size package of baby wipes, an extra outfit in case she decided to spit up all over her current one, a bottle and a few little toys along with a pacifier. "She should be content with her frog but if she isn't then you'll have a few other things to keep her happy. Are you sure you can handle her?" Cassidy asked and raised a brow questioningly at Carter. Sure, Lilly was Carter's daughter also, but it didn't mean that he knew what the hell he was doing.

"Fine. You're right. You take care of her and when I'm done with my meeting I'll come back and I'll get her." The reaction nearly made him topple over. Had she just simply went along with it? He tried not to show his confusion, allowing his face to stay stoic. She had never agreed so easily before! Maybe she realized how childish she was being. Maybe for once he had actually gotten through to her! He felt a little proud of himself for defusing the situation and getting Cassidy to act like an adult. It was a little odd; she had never been one to fall for his charms, but she seemed to respond well to him when he was being authoritative and rational. Maybe he should act this way more often... He listened carefully to what she had to say as far as their daughter was concerned and the things that she had brought for her. By now Carter knew how to care for the baby, though he didn't necessarily like to because Lilly still saw him as the enemy sometimes. She would scream and fuss and he wouldn't have a clue which lead to frustration on both their parts and him giving up. "Are you sure you can handle her?" They both knew he couldn't handle her, but what choice did he have? He could say no simply to irritate her, or set her off further by mentioning he had two women in the other room who would be more than willing to help with baby duty, but he figured there was no sense rocking the boat when he had finally, for once, gotten her to cooperate. "If I have a problem I'll call. I'm sure I can handle it." He said smoothly, deciding it wouldn't be that bad. "I guess we'll see you soon, then."

"I'll keep my cellphone on in case you have any trouble." Cassidy said and gave her husband a sweet smile, causing her cheeks to dimple a bit. He was going to regret ever talking to her the way he just did. She'd give him a taste of his own medicine soon enough that was for sure. "And I'll come back and pick her up when I'm through. It shouldn't be longer than an hour."
Cass reached her hand over to touch Lilly's cheek and made soft little cooing sounds to her daughter, babbling nonsense to her for a moment with a big genuine grin before she stopped. "Okay angel, you be good for daddy. Don't torture him too much. Be sure to save some for me when I get back." Her eyes landed back on Carter and she gave him a bit of a cold, sharp look before looking to make sure nobody was eavesdropping by the door. "Just one more thing."
She turned her attention back to Carter once again and lifted a finger up and pointing it to him. "Don't you dare hand her off to your bimbo assistant, either. I don't want Lilly to catch something from her." If skank was a disease then Cheyenne would be patient zero in Cassidy's opinion. But then again, there was always Hilary. Hilary carried the bitch virus.
The thought of Hilary again made her realize she'd been acting more and more like a bitch herself lately. Maybe it was just the lack of sleep that she was getting? Maybe the stress of her business and having to practically force her husband to spend time with their daughter. Maybe it was just the lifestyle period that she wasn't able to handle. She didn't know, but she started to think maybe it was time for a little alone time for herself. Something that she would pay almost anything for these days.
"Both of you better be good. I'll see you soon." Cass said and began to back out of the office but was slow about leaving just in case her husband wanted to say anything else. Or maybe even walk her out.
